The location is excellent, close to lovely walking routes and shopping centres, outlet shopping village and lots of restaurants. Including two within the hotel grounds, Puccini & Leonardo. The rooms are very spacious and you can find all you need for your stay including a coffee machine and kettle for teas.
The pillows were not very comfortable (they were hard) and there was no air-conditioning in the old part of the building. Since the temperature was extraordinary this summer they brought us a portable a/c which did help but was too noisy to sleep. We didn't eat breakfast in the hotel since it was very costly at €22 per person!

Easy to reach, on site parking, airco quite powerful, the room was very clean, the bed very comfortable. There was a small balcony adjacent to the room, no view though, but good if you want to have a smoke. Large tv screen, bedroom also spacious and clean. Very modern facility. Breakfast more expensive then average, but very good, both the diversity and quality. Staff very friendly.
Soundproofing isn't great: could hear bed squeaking in other room and people sneezing. Tourist tax wasn't included in booking.com price. The restaurant and breakfast are also very popular with locals: can get crowded and noisy, even breakfast.

Very well reachable with the car, and has a spacious outdoor parking. Friendly staff. The room was modern and stylish, inviting to have a romantic evening / night. The room was very clean and had a nice bed, the bathroom had a big bath tub and a big, comfortable walk-in shower. The bar/restaurant Puccini seems to have some great cocktails, I really enjoyed the Mai Tai. There are actually 2 restaurants but we did not eat there. The breakfast was tasty. I specifically liked the carrot and apple cake. At approximately 10 minute driving distance of the parking of Terhills / Elaisa wellness where we spent the day. It was raining the day we left and the staff was so friendly to suggest us to use the hotel's umbrellas while bringing luggage to the car.
The poster with the nearby cycling routes that was hanging against the wall next to the bed felt a bit 'off' though, a stylistic departure. There was a separate small room with the toilet, however to wash your hands you had to use the sink in the bathroom. As we were there just as a couple with 2, that didn't matter, however it might be not very handy if you are with 3 (the couch could be used as a sleeping couch).

The hotel has an old, authentic part and a modern part. The first time we stayed in the old part and we really liked it. The room is very spacious and furnished with a great attention to detail. It has coffee and tea making facilities, free water, but also all kinds of different little things that give you that extra warm, home feeling that you realise someone arranged this with great customer service in mind. We liked it so much that we decided to go again a few weeks later and decided to book the modern part to see how that is. When we arrived for this second booking and were standing at reception I realised that I had booked the wrong date! And for the day that we arrived, there was no availability, even in the vicinity because there was a major concert in the nearby town and all hotels were fully booked. However the lady at reception (Mary Lou?) understood our situation and took a great effort to find us accommodation and we are very grateful for this. Really old school hospitality, which you don't see much these days. What is more, the wrong date that we booked was no longer canceleable, which meant we had to pay some EUR 256 cancellation fee AND still pay for the other accommodation. She did cancel our room without charging the fee and we are very grateful for this as we had made a genuine mistake. So we will for sure be back to check the new part of the hotel!
all good

honestly the hotel exceeded my expectations. room was comfy, had everything you need and more. own patio which was enjoyable to sit outside and have a coffee.
my only criticism is the double bed was made up of 2 single beds pushed together which was slightly uneven, but as a single traveller it wasn't a major issue.

The staff was very warm and welcoming while always looking to make sure that we were taken care of. On top of that, they were very generous with their checkout time (perhaps it was because it was New Year's Day 😅 but, either way, we were in no rush to leave and it never felt like we were being pushed out). We will certainly return (at a time when the weather is better for a hike in the Hoge Kempen)!
The current page for the Hotel is really underselling the place. A lot of renovation work has taken place on a "newer side" of the property and those are the photos we do not see on Booking.com.

Fantastic stay. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Porta Cite. The room was clean, large, excellent facilities, the restaurant food was delicious, and the staff helped me organise the taxi with no trouble. I enjoyed my stay so much that I came back a second time to stay. The proximity to Elaisa Wellness is also great, which is why I stayed both times.
Nothing.

The hotel was beautiful. The staff really friendly. The air conditioning in the room was amazing. Really nice to have a cool down. The breakfast was also amazing. Really nice. Loads of options. Hot and cold.
The restaurant joined to the hotel were rude. Said they were fully booked when they had 1 family in. My mate looked like a scruff with his shorts on and they clearly didn’t want him in there. Turned their nose up at him.

We had a lovely stay in a very spacious room that is very clean and luxirious. The kids loved it as well and there was nothing that could break easily, so I could relax. We will make sure to visit again.

Very nice stay after a trip to Elaisa Wellness. Breakfast was provided with attention for detail. My girlfriend said: Extraordinary! Our room was modern, clean and nicely prepared for our arrival.
We arrived on time and there was nobody to open the front door. After a quick call, the friendly receptionist showed up and we had a smooth check-in.
