We booked this hotel because we were worried about staying near the pier in Tønsberg where it might be noisy over the weekend. Since it was a hot summer, keeping the window open was essential. Plus there were parking options nearby that might be less busy than along the waterfront on the day of the concert at Foynhagen. The hotel has a lot of common areas to relax in the lobby and on tables outside. Breakfast was a warm welcome in the cafe on the property. The room was clean and comfortable and not too far a walk into town.

Our room was a bit small, but all the larger room types were sold out so that is our fault. The only rate offered was not cancellable (no refund option) - so I was hesitant to book until the last minute. As you can read in the reviews there is no front desk and check-in is automated via timed text message. While it worked out just fine for us, it would be nice if they had a staff member onsite during normal business hours to help out just in case.

We had an excellent stay at Wilhelmsen House. The location was great, the room was quiet, clean, and spacious—perfect for our needs. Everything was just as expected, and the price was very reasonable. It was also very easy to check in – we received a text message with a code, which made the process smooth and convenient. Highly recommended!

There was nothing we didn't like – everything was great!

New and fresh. Big room. Fridge in room. Big bed, a little hard for my taste, but have had much worse. Good closet space. Big and comfortable shower.

Had some struggle with getting in due to no reception. But clear signs where to call, and a quick fix. This due to us ordering late in the day. Would probably not have been an issue if we ordered the room earlier. Only cleaning and new towls every 5 days. Cleaning every 5 days is ok, but I like new towls every 2nd day at least.

Communication re entry. Was not told it was automated and info would be sent on sms. I was on an esim and therefore could not receive entry code. Why not sent by email as well? Also wifi password not received. I had to resort to calling someone who could provide code. Once in, all good, but could have done without the hassle....

Breakfast in the cafeteria was more than adequate and very reasonably priced. The lounge area was a comfortable, quiet and restful area where you could relax. My room (standard) was not too big but extremely quiet from internal and external noise; bathroom small but functional and all very clean. The hotel is very well situated being a few minutes walk from the rail and bus station, shops and hospital across the road. Bus stops right outside the front door of WH. All perfect for me and none of that ghastly piped music that pervades most public spaces these days! If you need something lively look elsewhere ....

Couldn't get the TV to work but then I didn't particularly want to watch it anyway. For the rest I could find nothing to fault at all. Excellent all round!

Location was perfect, close to train and bus stations, close to the harbour, plenty of restaurants. Room was sufficient, if a little small. Room had a fridge.

No staff on site. Breakfast was a little lacking.

Wilhelmsen is the ideal location for a visit to Tonsberg close to restaurants and other attractions and close to public transport as Oslo is only just over an hour away. The accommodation is excellent and the staff very helful.

There is nothing not to like about this accommodation and would recommend a visit. We have always stayed here over many years and never disappoints!

Having all the entry codes and administration sorted out by email in advance was really good: the ability to just walk straight to my room without any sort of in person check-in was really appreciated after a long journey. The gym was an unexpected bonus, which I was fortunately in a position to take advantage of. Also, the fact that all local takeaways seem to know where it is and are happy to deliver there removed a lot of decision making.

Would have loved to have a kettle in the room.

No information in room, I.e how to use the air-conditioning, the 2 chairs in the room sunk as you sat in them, but overall very comfortable.
