Lovely location right on the canal. We had room 4 at the top of 2 steep spiral staircases but worth it for the views. The large bedroom with exposed beams was very well equipped. A central bedroom light plus smaller side lights, very comfortable beds, bag in room for recycling, plenty of electricity sockets in room including by the bed. Good WiFi, coat hangers, kettle, tea and coffee, biscuits, 2 chairs to relax on in the bedroom, tv very easy to operate compared to some other BandB’s we have stayed in recently! Good information pack with lots of info on places to visit, places to eat. Big bathroom, large fluffy towels. Very good breakfast with lots of choices. Breakfast tables had maps of local walks on them under glass. There were walking maps to borrow during the stay. Free parking. Sid and Rachel very approachable and helpful. A quiet 30 minute walk along the canal to the Royal Oak pub – excellent food, well priced and very friendly. 4 holiday cottages on site and a 5 pitch camping/caravan site. Cambrian cruisers boat hire also nearby, all family operated with obvious pride in their property.

Beautiful property in a gorgeous location. The rooms are so lovely and clean and comfortable. Check in/check out super easy, great communication with the owners. Fantastic breakfast too! Overall a brilliant stay!

Noise travels! Of course a beautiful old property but the noise between rooms really travels so may not suit everyone. We thought we were being really quiet and respectful of other guests but unfortunately this wasn't the case, you can hear every movement. Not a lot the owners can do though so while I wanted to provide a fully honest review, I hope this doesn't put people off. It really is a great place to stay.

It's a lovely location by the side of the canal, surrounded by boats and fields, with terrific view of the Beacons. The room was very comfortable, with all the facilities we expected plus lots of information on walks and local attractions. There were tea-making facilities in the room and fresh milk downstairs if you wanted it. An excellent breakfast was provided. There is also a conservatory and patio for guests to use, which is a nice bonus. Car parking is provided for guests as well as a separate entrance to the rooms and guest spaces, so that you don't feel that you are intruding on the hosts privacy.

Minor points but think there could be better towels, perhaps a larger main bathroom towel and possibly a bath mat. Maybe more soundproofing at the door to prevent noise travelling, acknowledging it's understandable to hear floorboards creaking with movement in a period property and it's hard to fully prevent noises being heard.

Ty Newydd B&B is located amid stunning scenery. The hosts, Sid & Rachel, were very accommodating, ensuring a smooth and pleasant stay for my mother & me. The accommodation maintains the traditional look of a B&B with modern amenities & refreshing decor, which made for a lovely stay. We were both pleasantly surprised by our short stay and would definitely choose to stay there again should we ever return to the area.

The hosts were very welcoming and likeable. They were helpful with ideas for activities and made us feel at home. The breakfast was excellent and was served quickly. The location, aspect, and decor of the B&B were also better than expected. The space to dry our walking clothes and boots was also a fantastic touch. We will stay again for the great views of the Beacons, the tranquility, and the breakfast.

Only very minor criticism is that the lighting in the bedroom could do with another side lamp for added cosiness.

Very warm and friendly welcome. Room was very comfortable, clean, good facilities and spacious. Nice view of canal from window. Good selection for breakfast. You were not left feeling hungry. We came for a wedding so did not have a chance to fully explore the area but we were able to walk along the canal in the evening before wedding to a village for a meal in a lovely country pub. We would certainly book again and use cottage as a base to explore the area. It's literally a short drive from Brecon town itself. Excellent value for money

We had a great stay at Ty Newydd. The place is charming, comfortable and very quiet. The surroundings are so pretty, with a view on the mountains and a little canal passing by, which allows for nice walks. It's also close to beautiful hikes in the Brecon Beacons. Sid was very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. I would definitely recommend to anyone considering a holiday in the area.

Gorgeous B&B, you can tell a lot of work has been put into it. Sid was very welcoming upon our arrival as he showed us around. We loved the view from the room, and the room itself was very clean and spacious with lots of character! In the morning we were seated in the conservatory for breakfast overlooking the canal and the mountains, it was really beautiful! The breakfast was very delicious, too. Probably one of the top B&B's we've stayed in, and will likely visit again!

This place is a little gem. Very comfy and clean. Great location, right next to the canal with a lovely walking path to a lovely little pub 20 minutes walk away. The views across the valley are spectacular. Great breakfast every morning to set you up for a day of exploring this beautiful area. Having parking was great too. Sid was so very helpful with all sorts of maps available for walks in the area. Would not hesitate to recommend.
