The hotel is located in a semi retired area from the street and noise, surrounded by a forest. The design is modern, stylish and somewhat mixes perfectly the Japanese identity and way of living. The staff is helpful and welcoming, which was very appreciated, they offered guides and advice to experience better the city and its services. The breakfast served in the morning, also not in a cafeteria, but in the room, is of great taste and quality. We were very pleased to have it to start the day before heading to spa and onsen around the city.

Modern hotel, spacious rooms, very friendly staff and conveniently located to some of the main attractions in Beppu. Ample parking space, the staff can help in booking an Onsen and even provide a package with towels etc. if you to one. A standard set of sandwiches for breakfast is provided the evening before.

The hotel is a wooden building and as such, you'll easily hear people walking around and talking. The windows don't have curtains, just a rice-paper screen, which makes difficult to fully darken the room. The hotel is quite far from the city center. The standard set of sandwiches for breakfast may not be to everybody's taste.

superb setting in what is otherwise quite a resort town. discrete, peaceful and comfortable. Tucked out of the way within a short walk to Kannawa onsen area and a few restaurants. Beautiful hotel with lovely friendly and helpful staff team, even though the reception is not 24 hour everything you could need is taken care of effortlessly. Beppu itself is a bit of a challenge because there are a lot of coach tours but that is to be expected. The Negura hotel made us feel like we were in a different place altogether. We also had a car but easily walked to bathe a couple of times. If you’re trying to get round all the hells then there are buses, but I say slow down, relax, have a bathe and breathe it in.

Pretty cosy accommodation, a bit like AirBnB style. Room was nicely furnished, clean and minimalistic. Near to the jigoku hells (At least the first 3 hells)

Doesn’t seem to have elevator. Fortunately we stayed on level 1. Also their location wasn’t really clearly marked along the small lane leading to the hotel (or maybe I missed the signs). It would have been helpful if there were signs in English pointing us to the hotel. The open-air carpark was pretty dark at night. Fortunately it was winter and Japan has relatively low crime rate.

Location set in the woods next to the Hells of Beppu was just perfect. The property is stylish and immaculately clean. Really comfortable beds and good coffee.

Getting suitcases from the car to the room, the signage is misleading and they make you walk around the building for no reason. The paths are gravel and there are a number of stairs. This could be much better.

We stayed in a dozen properties on this trip and this is definitely among the top 2. The location in the woods is lovely, love the tranquility and peace. The room is spacious with a functional layout that’s practical and zen. Love the scandi style furnishing too. The bartender, Kevin, was very helpful and shared interesting local knowledge. Conveniently located across from the “hells” & onsens. Would recommend this location if one is driving.

The cold sandwich breakfast delivered the night before was a bit of a gap in the total experience.

It's a modern design hotel which is what we loved at the Beppu onsen area where there are many traditional hotels. We could walk to the hells of Beppu and nearby public onsens. The room and hotel are very tastefully decorated and lovely. I like the design a lot

The location is a bit far which requires a 10 min walk to the public onsens but after the hot bath it feels good to walk. Counter is not always manned by staff so for international guests who check out may experience difficulty getting a taxi if you do not speak Japanese.

The property was clean and modern, and the room was quite large with large beds. This was probably one of the largest hotel rooms I’ve stayed in while traveling Japan (which has been about 18 different accommodations). Various onsens were within walking distance, and the staff even called and made a reservation for a private onsen for my wife and I upon request. The staff also spoke various languages to accommodate many travelers.

No problems with the property itself, but we had some neighbors who were loud and disruptive during late evening hours.

Our room was spacious, uncluttered, and attractive. The large bed with two adjoining mattresses and a luxurious duvet was very comfortable. While there are no facilities on the property, a simple breakfast of sandwiches was delivered to us by 8:00 the evening before. The staff were very helpful and courteous and happily made phone calls on our behalf regarding our car rental and taxi arrangements. Beppu Hotel Negura has been our favourite place to stay in a whole month of travels in Japan.

No complaints at all.

The breakfast was very nice sandwiches and it was being sent the night before with some drip coffee to go along with it. Clear information shared before check in, we had been informed that no lift available. Thus, we packed light for the night to reduce the challenge. The receptionists are very friendly and provided clear guide on the room's information during check in. They had helped to carry my mum's bag to the room since we stayed on second floor.

The tablet used during check in is a little difficult to key in with. The beds are too soft to our likings. The complimentary water required to collect at reception area, it is difficult as can be pretty cold to walk out at night.
