I liked a dog box in the room, containing some useful items alongside key requests from the venue. I liked the walking routes you could borrow- though an indicator of road walking would be useful. I have a very reactive dog who lunges at moving cars. Sadly the speed people drive along the lane leading to the Black Horse Inn sadly doesn't make it a 'leisurely walk' I liked the warm welcome from the reception team and the fact they accommodated my requests - one of which was last minute 🙏 I liked the location of the Inn and the peace and quiet. I liked the setting of the room and the grass courtyard. I liked the amenities in the room & ensuite. I liked the food and service in the Inn itself and their willingness to accommodate a reactive dog.
The multitude of warning signs all over the site that were worded in quite a negative way. 1 sign is more powerful than 3 or 4 in the same area - it becomes overwhelming. And writing in a positive adult-to-adult tone is more engaging than a parent-to-child tone. I also didn't like other guests parking in such a way alongside my car that I couldn't get back into it.

Wonderful period property in an extensive plot which has been thoughtfully extended. Very warm and homely feel. Staff excellent with accommodation and serving staff being so helpful (e.g. arranging a takeaway breakfast so we could make Le Shuttle on time). Beautiful rural location but within minutes. of Maidstone and M20/M2. Loved the restaurant and great selection of wines (including locally sourced British premium wines) and local beers. Also a number of local walks around the North Downs and through the vineyards available at reception. Just the ticket!!
Neighbouring guest thoughtless - talking outside until 4a.m. and then having the nerve to use their ‘Do not disturb’ sign

The Black Horse Inn is our one and only place to stay when we travel from Chester to visit my wife’s mum and dad. This time was for my wife’s mums 80th birthday, going out for lunch, in the day. This must be our 10th 12th stay. We stayed in block 1, this time. In the evening, my wife and I eat in The Black Horse restaurant with her sister and husband. As ever the food is fantastic. The pub was busy with people staying in the pub and locals. It was a great atmosphere. John is a great host. I did have to ask the lady on reception to reboot the wifi / EV chargers as they had again ‘fallen’ off the network. This has been happening for a year now… maybe a wifi upgrade needed? Breakfast was the usual quality ingredients. We will be back again
There was no longer porridge as an option on the breakfast menu for my wife. The room we stayed in needs renovation

The room was very nice, cosy and clean and the location was great. The pub was an old pub, great features and a lovely warm log fire. I would definitely stay again (Just wouldn't have dinner there sorry to say)
The food was terrible,my tomato soup was very bland and I had to top up with salt and pepper for a little taste, my chips and mushroom/stilton burger was dripping in grease and the burger fell apart when picked up (it was that greasy) and the onion rings were full of grease I had to send my food back.To be fair this was deducted from our bill. The receptionist checking us in wasn't very welcoming

Breakfast was fresh, well cooked and delicious. Our evening meal was outstanding. Beautiful produce, well cooked and so tasty. Staff were exceptional and attentive at all times and the accommodation was clean and comfy and just what we needed for our over night stay. We definitely plan to return.
Continental breakfast area was fairly empty when we arrived and would have been nice to have Croissants and pain au chocolate available but staff were happy to refill the stock. The room was really clean, freshly painted, no mould in bathroom etc. I just found my socks were covered in dog hairs after walking around for a while. Not a big issue but we didn't have a dog with us.

Location was exceptional. Really liked the chalets next to each other and position near car park. Lovely green areas all around and nice views. Lots of walks on door stop. Very genuine and sincere staff all round which we really appreciated. The breakfasts were exceptionally good and extremely good value for money! The best fruit salads and fry ups with our individual food preferences catered for . Good room service as required.
Nothing could have been better

I was expecting a room in a pub, but the accommodation far exceeded my expectations in every way! The rooms are in a separate block a few yards away from the pub and large, very well appointed, and very quiet. Every member of staff I interacted with was friendly and helpful and it was genuine, not forced. The restaurant food was excellent - the Black horse classic burger was one of the best I have ever eaten. The breakfast was ample and tasty too. As the food is so good it is recommended to book a table if you want to eat in the restaurant. We were also told that food could be taken to the rooms, or eaten in the bar as well. Our stay was for the Kent Downs Ultra challenge and this hotel is ideally placed for that event. If the event is put on again in 2025 then I suspect this hotel will be packed with challengers!
Nothing, the whole experience was great

Lovely pleasant and friendly greetings at breakfast. Excellent cooked breakfast and good choice of cereal or yoghurt with freshly cut fruit if you wanted it. Large room with seating area which you don’t always have. Tea, coffe and biscuits provided and lovely hot water in the morning shower. Loads of parking and plenty of places to walk the dog. Interesting choices for dinner with different specials, Both I tried were delicious. Dog loft brilliant for like minded dog owners to have their dinner without making non-dog lovers uncomfortable but nice to be able to sit in the bar later on with the dog. I tried 2 of the 6 walks suggested in reception. Excellent laminated maps and all with very clear instructions. This was a fantastic idea when visitors don’t know their way about the area. It made for two really good walks rather than aimless wanders.
Not a dislike just a comment. If you are only 5ft 2in like me its impossible to turn on the bathroom fan owner the door.

The chalet was much larger than it appeared from the outside and beautifully decorated. Umbrella provided for walks to the main building. 2 lovely armchairs to sit in. Clean as a whistle. Dog accepted. Parking close to the chalet when available.
It was wet when we stayed so difficult to keep the floor clean and dry. The chalet area is built into a hill that is quite steep for my poor defective knees and the brick paving is slippery when wet. Coming in off the A249 is fraught with danger at busy times on the road. If you arrive when the bar and restaurant are busy it can be difficult to park.

Beautiful place, the pub and food were excellent. Breakfast was excellent, as were the staff. The room was ideal for what we needed, cleaners were amazing too and very nice.
The only thing would be the walls were very thin, we could hear our neighbours plug things into the sockets behind the bed and even a very loud yawn. Didn’t bother us hearing other people but as we had a baby and a toddler, did make me a little anxious that we would disturb other people.
