Absolutely stunning place, very secluded and peaceful with tasteful decor and a cosy but modern feel. The dining room and living room with big windows and a view over the sea and mountains are spectacular! They offer a range of great experiences and delicious food, and all the staff are helpful and friendly. The farm animals are very cute and there is even a dog, cat, and rabbit in residence! Absolutely recommend this place as an escape in an other-worldly landscape.
This is often a positive but just so people are aware, there is not really any other infrastructure nearby - if you're staying here without a car then you'll be eating all your meals here too, which isn't a bad thing (but can get pricy)! You also pay for everything: borrowing snow poles, snow boots, feeding the animals, etc. Again, that is fair enough, but it might have been a nice touch to allow guests to borrow snow shoes for free, as they aren't in high demand and seem quite low maintenance.

What a cute place! Very peaceful. Well appointed. We stayed for 2 nights as we made our way around the Tromso area. We prefer private places like this over hotels. The farm had cute goats and chickens, sheep and horses. Guests were welcome to interact with the creatures. The breakfast was plentiful with enough interesting variety for various tastes. It was a good location to stay and then go to the wilderness center 30 mins away for some snowshoeing with husky dogs. Also a good location to circle the entire island in one day. The home cooked meal in their restaurant was delicious. Both the vegetarian options and the oven baked lamb were excellent. The staff were all very nice and helpful Would stay again if we return.
The room was just a little bit smaller than expected, but was comfortable. We had a room with a window right next to the walkway to and from the dining area so we heard people outside our window when passing by - not a big deal but good to know if location is important to picking a room.

Beautiful location with the beautiful view.
Breakfast hours are 8-10 in the morning. By 8:40 almost no food left. And no food added. If you come to eat after 10 in the morning there is no food added and you told there is no more food left. Totally unacceptable!

Absolutely lovely place in a beautiful spot. We stayed here for three nights to relax away from the city and it was wonderful. The food is homemade and delicious (loved the homemade kombucha), the beds are comfortable, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The main building is a lovely place to relax - meal area downstairs and a lounge upstairs. Quiet, cozy, nicely decorated and with stunning views. I loved that outdoor shoes must be left at the door and that slippers are provided - really adds to the coziness and comfort. We didn't end up making use of the sauna sadly, but it is in an incredible spot overlooking the water - I regret not using it! We did book the dog sledding offered nearby, which included transport provided by the hotel - this was a fantastic experience and I can't recommend it enough. Loved meeting the resident dog and cat who would come say hello in the main building. We were able to get the bus from Tromso to the hotel (luckily as it only runs a few times per day). The hotel can organise transport for you at a competitive rate but this needs to be booked in advance.
Meals and drinks and facilities are expensive - although I understand this is pretty typical for Norway! As a hotel guest you can visit the farm animals for free, but all other activities must be paid for individually.

Any review I write won't do justice to how much we adored our time here which is better described not as a stay but as a truly wonderful experience. The setting is stunning and the cabin we stayed in just perfect. There is a very gorgeous open resturant area available to enjoy all day and upstairs an equally beautiful lounge area. The decor of both is beautifully curated and reflects Norwegian aethetics at its best. If that wasn't enough to enjoy the views of sea and mountains from the large open windows are breath taking. Breakfast is a pleasure with local produce served in inspired ways that add to the whole Norwegian experience. We took advantage of renting snow shoes and from the front door there were hours of beautiful landscapes to enjoy hiking independently in. The staff will give you a map with route suggestions. We also took on the challenge of ice bathing in the December sea, perhaps not for the faint hearted, but an unforgetable, wonderful experience. A less brave experience is the spa - what a treat that is - taking in the incredible views from the warmth of the outdoor spa. We really enjoyed the evening meals which give you the opportunity to try regional dishes. We found the staff to be very helpful and were very patient waiting late at night for us when our plane took two hours to clear arrivals. My impression is the staff are very committed to quietly providing efficient service. And they have the most gorgeous wee dog!
Be prepared to pay for all extras. I tend to agree with other reviewers that snow shoe rental could be included for guests.

The Jacuzzi and Sauna are great as well as the distance to Tromsø and the city lights. The main house is very comfortable and the staff is friendly and helpful. The view from the eating area is amazing. We really enjoyed our stay and could relax perfectly with a stunning view across the fjord, especially in the morning and when it was dark with magical northern lights dancing for hours! If we needed extra food at breakfast (bigger vegetarian options), the staff would prepare it for us.
You need to be aware that you cannot prepare food for yourself here. If you are there with public transportation or as such you will have to eat at the provided restaurant of the farmhouse. It is good food but there is no other option.

The farm hotel was reasonably close to, for example, the island of Sommarøy, and it takes about half an hour to get there by car. The rooms were simple and clean. The shower and bathing facilities were modern and very clean. The farm had goats, sheep, a dog, a cat, chickens, and a bunny. Guests could freely interact with and observe the animals. According to the staff, some of the animals were up in the mountains at this time of year. We left early in the morning, so we didn't have time to eat breakfast, but the staff offered to prepare sandwiches for us to take with us. Recommended!

Everything about Yggdrasil Farmhotel Retreat was incredible. The location is about an hour from the Tromsø airport so a little far but the most beautiful location with views I will remember forever. My partner and I stayed only one night in January with hopes of seeing the northern lights… So blessed and lucky they made an appearance while we were there around midnight and lasted for hours!! Watching the lights dance in the sky felt like a dream. The owner, Maria was so sweet and lovely we had wonderful conversations about many things. The hospitality from every staff member was very warming and welcoming, the food absolutely delicious, homemade right there in the lounge/kitchen area. My first time trying traditional Norwegian food, definitely did not disappoint. There’s a yoga studio as well which was incredible for my at home workouts and stretching to maintain movement while on vacation. The weather was very cold in the negatives but we did take a nice walk outside and enjoyed the sauna & cold plunge into the Arctic sea in the afternoon. Overall we had an incredible experiences. When I make the trip again to Tromsø yes or yes I will be staying here once again.

Snowed heavily during my stay giving every window a beautiful view. The dining room also combines as a reception and a lovely boutique gift shop.
No fridge in the room or tea & coffee facility. I consider this to be a basic facility offered in most medium to high value guesthouses. In my experience hot drinks and at least one bottle of complimentary water in your room is a given standard. My bathroom had a massive crack in the mirror, I accept that an accident might have recently occurred but no explanation or apology was offered.

The retreat is in a lovely quiet location with great views. The main building where they serve food etc is wonderful. There is a beautiful restaurant looking out over the sea, yoga studio and a snuggly living room on the top floor - agin with great views, a small bar and a wood burning fire. We had dinner one night and it was delicious. The bed was super comfy and the staff are all welcoming and friendly.
Only small things but would have been nice to have a bit more fruit available for breakfast. It would be great to have parking available near the accommodation (especially as there is space) as it’s quite challenging walking up the hill from the car park especially if it’s dark or there’s bad weather.
