i stayed overnight at this hotel because I was on a long trip and I was getting severe weather warnings. When I pulled in at 6 PM it was 40 degrees, but by the time I woke up the storm had hit and it was very unsafe to continue my trip. The staff were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to offer me late checkout (at no extra cost) and pretty much would not OK my leaving until there was reasonable certainty that I would not end up in a ditch somewhere! The rest of my drive was fine because the roads had been cleared, and as I passed multiple semi trucks abandoned in the medians I was oh so thankful for the manager's help! Please assure them that this traveller, at any rate, made it safely home!

Nothing not to like

The breakfast had a good variety, but the food was not as hot as I would have liked. The set up was nice and the area was clean and comfortable. My view was a parking lot and field. It was just Ok, but not great. The bathroom is great and I especially like the big step in shower. Bed is comfortable.

Other than maybe a little bit cheaper price, I don't think I can think of anything else that I didn't like. I visited my son and grandsons, and the location is wonderful for me. I used to stay in West Des Moines, but I feel safer in the Waukee area.

The room location was good. Room 231. Close to stairs so I could use them for breakfast both days. Away from noise especially the Saturday night party that was in breakfast area. I was comfortable with cool a/c and dark room and comfy bed. The location is only a mile or two from my son’s townhouse.

The breakfast variety was great but the quality was only fair. Just not much flavor or appetizing appearance. But I do appreciate having a breakfast included.

Clean, brightly lit, comfortable, and welcoming environment! Went for a show at Vibrant Music Hall, which was directly across the street; it could not have been in a better location. Front desk and kitchen staff were very nice! Definitely recommend!

Breakfast was a nice variety of options. We had eggs, sausages, and biscuits n gravy, which were okay but could have been more flavorful. In short, it filled our stomachs, but we didn't go back for seconds. But all in all, if that's the biggest gripe, you can expect to have a great stay.

The hotel was very clean (it even smelled clean as soon as we walked in) and looked very nice. It was quiet and located perfectly for where we were traveling. The room looked nice, had nice amenities, and the sheets were super soft! The room was very clean too. It looked and felt more expensive than it actually was. We did take the opportunity when we were checking out to tell the person at the front desk that we thought their hotel was lovely.

The bed wasn’t super comfortable for me, but that’s mostly because I have a back problem and it’s hard for me to be comfy on a hotel bed. My husband had no problem sleeping at all though. The person working the front desk (which I believe was the manager) wasn’t very friendly- did not offer even a small smile at all, and when my husband asked if the water from the bathroom faucet was ok to drink (we were from out of state) she rolled her eyes at him. We didn’t think it was a crazy question.

Seemed new and well maintained, and the room was fresh and clean, none of the having been smoked in smell so common in older motels.

I appeared to be among the first businesses to locate itself in a new subdivision or business park and I didn’t find that any restaurants had yet moved into the area. I was on foot so that was inconvenient. I’m sure that if I visit again in ten years, the place will have filled in with businesses of every variety, size, and function.

I chose this hotel based on the location and the price. We were visiting family in Waukee over Labor Day weekend and the Sleep Inn-Waukee was very convenient to get to from I-80 and from our family's home. The exercise room offered more options than the typical treadmill and bike. There were also exercise balls, medicine balls, and a wide variety of hand weights. The breakfast was consistently good with a variety of choices and the area was kept clean and well-stocked even though there were a lot of guests. The hotel is dog-friendly and I must have seen 10 different dogs over the weekend, but never heard any barking from our room. One woman brought her dog into the breakfast area and the breakfast room attendant was very polite in telling the guest that the dog was not allowed and offered to take care of the dog while the guest got some breakfast. The attendant took the dog for a tour of the 1st floor introducing him to other staff along the way 😆.

The door to the room that we were assigned at check-in did not close securely. We reported that to the front desk and were promptly assigned another room. However, we also noticed that the exterior side door to the hotel also did not latch securely so it could be opened without using a guest room card. While the hotel is not in a high-crime area, more attention could be given to guest security.

Breakfast was just average. Not great, but it did have plenty of food. I loved the big step in shower. Much easier than a tub shower combo. The king bed was comfortable. I had a little trouble regulating the room temperature at night. The sink drainage was slow.

Biscuits weren't warm. Had No potatoes. Eggs weren't hot. Sausage links were very good and the waffles were great. Orange juice was watered down on the second day. So I switched to tea . It was great.

Everything was perfect! The place is brand spanking new! So clean. Such comfy bed and linens. Quiet AC too. The fitness room had everything I needed for a good workout. The pool looks inviting. Nice variety at breakfast with great coffee machine.

No hot tub

The room was clean and spacious. It smelled fresh upon entering, almost like cologne. The beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed all the breakfast choices as well.

The pool area was not well ventilated. It was extremely uncomfortable, hot, and humid.
