Location is great, you can walk from Midagahara pass this lodge to Murodo. Nature path along the way is easy to walk and the sceneric so beautiful, however there are short path that quite difficault to climb. Owner of lodge help drive for me to Murodo in the morning 7:40, this is very helpful so I can start hike Tateyama from early morning where not many people around so I can enjoy the nature to heart content. Lodge also next to bus station so if I tried from hiking I can take bus from Murodo instead, but walk from Murodo also only 40 min and faster than waiting for the bus. Breakfast and Dinner are delicious also staff can refill rice and bread. Room quite clean however in moutain area it difficault to avoid insect but I have no problem else I would not travel to the moutain. If anyone want to stay in Tateyama longer than 1 night I would recommend this place.

You cannot beat actually staying on the Mountain when you do the Tateyama Alpine trail! This lodge was fantastic. I booked it very last minute and was lucky to get a twin Japanese style room. We arrived on a snowy and foggy day. Woke up in the morning to amazing blue skies. All the meals were fantastic. We ate ramen for lunch here. The dinner was abundant and really tasty. The desserts were delicious. Breakfast was also fulfilling. We didn't take a bento lunch for the following day, but it looked great. The staff were all incredibly nice. The shower room really clean. The hot bath was also welcoming at the end of the day. We were also given a ride back to Murodo after breakfast in the morning.

I am terrible at sleeping on futons with the bean pillows. So I had a terrible sleep. And the room was really cold. The hallway was much warmer than our small heater could warm the room. And the walls are really thin. So when the early morning skiers were getting ready at 5am... the noise carried through the whole lodge.

My stay in this hut was lovely. It’s located a relaxed 40-minute walk from Murodo or just one bus station away. The staff were excellent and very friendly, and they allowed me to switch my meals to vegetarian options (I wrote to them a couple of days in advance), which included a great selection of dishes. They let you know when it’s sunset time so you can go out and enjoy the view, and they also offer movie nights in the common area. The room was great and all wooden, and while the showers were shared, that was okay. There was also a small hot bath. They offered a free ride to Murodo in the morning, around 6:20. Overall, I highly recommend this place; the views were amazing, and the staff and food were great.

tatami room & futon was great to sleep on after a long day’s hike, stairs to the bedrooms on second floor a little steep so grateful that there’s a toilet at the end of the hall on the same floor for middle of the night needs. yukata & small towel provided, as well as disposable toothbrush, soap, shampoo, and conditioner. Amazing dinner & breakfast, also appreciated the after-hours communal movie for some relaxation. The location is right at the Tengudaira bus station if you choose to take the bus, if not, its a 45 min pleasant hike from Murodo. There is a free shuttle to take you to Murodo or Midagahara in the morning if you dont mind leaving early.

We loved staying at this mountain lodge so close to Murodo and great mountain hiking. The room is small the beds were reasonably comfortable. Nice mountain views! The shared bathing facilities and toilets were clean and surprisingly available for a busy inn. Japanese robes are available to use within the lodge. Many people were there for dinner and breakfast which were served all at once at 5:30 pm and 6:30am. The meals were generous with various small plates. Free shuttles back to Murodo were available from about 7am to 7:30am.

The pillows were like sacks of beans.

One of the more affordable lodgings within the Kurobe Alpine route! Very clean and well-maintained – rooms, toilets, bathrooms, coatroom and common area. "Hand" towel provided is big enough to double as a bath towel, so no worries if you want to pack light while traversing this route (plus you get to keep it as a souvenir!). Was very impressed with the spread of food during dinner and breakfast, (+ interesting snacks/drinks offered during supper). I liked how they screened a free show after dinner for visitors to chill or even just hangout together. Staff were very friendly and helpful, giving recommendations for hiking routes, offering a free shuttle service, and even so kindly renting out their equipment for use. Has a few boardwalks surrounding the lodge for short walks/treks out too.

This is a lodge located just a little bit below Murodo, which is famous for the snow wall (Yuki no Ōtani). breakfast and dinner is provided, you can also take lunch at the lodge with a reasonable price, which i strongly suggest it. We stay at April for the snow wall trip and not really feeling cold in the room, not even using the heater provided despite the temperature outside is about 3 Celcius. Will definitely visit again in another season!

Shared bathroom probably is not for everyone, 1 of my friend did not take the bath during the stay due to too shy to share bathroom with others. other than that, all is good.

I loved my stay here. The staff were absolutely lovely and very helpful. They provided snow boots for free when my trainers were too wet and put them in a heated room, so that they could dry. They made every effort to make sure I was comfortable and regularly chatted to me, as I was on my own. The food was very tasty (dinner and breakfast are included in the price) and they provide packed lunch for a fee if needed. The shower was hot and the hot tub was small but lovely to soak in after lots of walking. The room was nice and warm and had a great view of the mountains. They show a documentary about the snow wall. They reserved my bus to Bijodaira for me and because it was raining, they told the bus driver to use the horn when he was outside, so that I could wait inside.

It was basic accommodation but it has everything you need and the staff more than make up for it. The WiFi didn't work consistently but you're in the mountains, so that will happen. Breakfast is served at 6:30am, which is quite early for me.

This was a nice cozy Ryokan like hotel tucked away in scenic mountain ranges in Tengudaira. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The food was well prepared and presented. There were so many dishes with unique flavours which was amazing after tiring day of on the go.

The onsen wasn't available when we were there. Few of the staff couldn't speak English, so communication was difficult only occasionally. Have to plan around for showers as they are available for a limited time.

Absolutely everything. From the moment I stepped in and was greeted; seeing the interaction between the staffs; knowing what they are capable of; being helped when I was having some sort of problems; I was even told to watch the sunset: I do not speak or really understand Japanese, yet I know I really should drop what I was doing and grab my camera and get to the back of the building. Because they are enthusiastic yet really polite as tourists all know Japanese are.

It is so good I am feeling no other place can match now…
