Right upon our arrival we were impressed by the beautiful and lovely maintained garden. In combination with the very pretty hotel itself, it made us feel a little royal immediately. We also loved the spacious room and especially the big and very comfortable bed. We enjoyed the silence at the hotel, although you’re right in the middle of everything (Victoria Park, Post Office, Queen Elizabeth Plaza, etc.). With the help of Front Office Manager Ignatius Xavier we were able to prolong for another night, as we kind of fell in love with this place. On top of that he told us what to do and where to go and how to get there and was available at anytime. Due to the help of Ignatius we had a great time. Thank you once again! We highly recommend to stay at the Royal Cocoon!

Almost not worth mentioning, but the pressure of the shower was quite low. Apart from that it was amazing

It was all amazing - Location, Rooms and Service! Loved their outdoors with well kept gardens and lounge areas. Rooms were huge and nice views. Arranged transportation and tours for us, Driver was really friendly too and was a great experience. We'll be staying here for our future visits - If we get similar rates to match the overall value offered.

Breakfast was terrible & service staff was poor. We requested to have it early on departure day but it was all served cold. Service by the Manager and Receptionist (Baanujan) was exceptional but would suggest to tone down their hospitality a bit as it can get overwhelming - But it's a positive for many.

Royal Cocoon is a cozy and elegant hotel nestled in the heart of Nuwara Eliya. The atmosphere is peaceful and refined, with beautifully maintained gardens and charming colonial-style architecture. The staff were welcoming and attentive, doing their best to ensure a comfortable stay. The room was spacious and tastefully decorated, and the bed was absolutely huge — incredibly comfortable and perfect for a restful night. Special thanks to Chef Raihan, who was exceptionally kind and attentive. He gave us personal attention and was happy to prepare anything we asked for — always with a smile. Breakfast was fresh and varied, and the overall location is ideal: close to the town center, yet quiet and surrounded by greenery. A wonderful place to experience the charm of Nuwara Eliya in comfort and style.

There are two large staircases at the entrance to the hotel, which made access less convenient and took away slightly from the otherwise welcoming first impression.

We had an amazing time at Royal Cocoon. Despite not being impacted by the town's bustle, it was quite close to Nuwareliya town. Rooms are kept up nicely with cozy beds. We loved the royal interior design of the rooms. There is a lovely & well maintained yard with summer furnishings. A good spot to relax with a cup of coffee in the evenings. Manager Ignatus Xavier is a humble person. Staff also amiable and another highlight was Chef Rehan. He was incredible. Telling him where you're from is all that's required. He will customise the dishes the cook you desire according to your national preferences. He suggested Italian pasta and Mongolian nasi goreng to us. Those were delicious. In Sri Lanka, this was the only authentic pasta we ever had. we highly suggest this place. Many thanks!

I had an absolutely amazing stay at Royal Cocoon. This was my first visit to Nuwara Eliya, and both the hotel and the staff far exceeded my expectations. From the moment we arrived, the team was warm, welcoming, and attentive. They helped us with our luggage, ensured we were comfortable, and provided a delicious breakfast each morning. What truly stood out was the level of care and service. I had accidentally left behind a personal item after checking out, and to my surprise, the hotel promptly arranged for it to be sent to me via courier. That level of dedication is rare and deeply appreciated. A special thank you goes to Ignatius, who went above and beyond to make our stay seamless. He helped us settle in, offered helpful tips about the area, and was always available when we needed assistance. The rooms were cozy and well-maintained, the atmosphere serene, and the location perfect for exploring the charm of Nuwara Eliya. We got a free upgrade to the family room and it very spacious. I would highly recommend Royal Cocoon to anyone looking for a memorable and comfortable stay in the region.

Our stay at Royal Cocoon in Nuwara Eliya was absolutely outstanding. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and looked after better than at any hotel we've ever stayed at. Ignatius and Bavan were incredible — their care, attention, and genuine hospitality made the experience feel like staying at a $1000-a-night hotel. They offered fantastic recommendations for what to do in the area, and nothing was ever too much trouble. The property itself was immaculately maintained, with a spacious, clean room, a very comfortable bed, and great hot water. The location was perfect for walking into the main parts of town. Breakfast was delicious. The true highlight, though, was the people and the personalized service — it turned a great stay into an unforgettable one. Highly recommended!

Nothing. If you're smart you'd book here.

- away from the terrible noise and pollution of the city in nice residential area, beautiful old colonial hotel, has its own big garden - nice staff, very available - very quiet - very comfortable and big rooms - clean

- internet poor inside the bedroom (both wifi and 4G), but outside or at window good - good food but menu not very big and slightly pricey + should propose tours/activities around nuwara for individuals or groups with not excessive pricing. Options for eating and touring are available nearby so not improving here is lost opportunity.

The building is old but nicely renovated, so the atmosphere makes perfect match with the old British town, so you can feel yourself in the beginning of 20th century. There are very few rooms, so there is a feeling of home, not a hotel. At the same time visitors can easily avoid company of strangers because of many different common locations inside the main building and surrounding territory. But one of the main attractions is The Chef — not only the food is beautiful, but his individual approach to all the visitors and fantastic experience with different cuisines make the whole stay one of the most exquisite in the Island which is especially nice to have in the old fashioned Nuwaraeliya Location - easy to get to Victoria park, post office and old Gran Hotel. The food and the whole work of the Chef. Atmosphere and the staff friendliness

The floor in the bathroom could be warmer but we stayed on a very cold day.

We were only in Nuwara Eliya one night and stayed at the Royal Cocoon. The hotel only just opened after years of being closed. Getting an 150 year old Dutch colonial manor back to scratch would be hard, but they are doing an excellent job. Rooms are comfortable (best beds I have had all trip). Meals are pre ordered and carefully prepared to suit your tastes. With only 7 rooms, you get very personised service. One table wanted no spice, whereas I want buckets of chilli. Chef Amiz did an amazing job of preparing meals for our dietary requirements (vegan). We had Sri Lankan and Thai foods, and were offered both local and Europeon breakfast options. We are gutted we couldn't do one of Chef Amiz cooking classes as we were only there one night. The hotel manager (I'm so sorry I didn't get your name!), was extremely helpful and kind. He provided excellent advice for our onwould journey. The heater in the room was lovely. Who would of thought Sri Lanka could get so cold!!!
