Absolutely immaculate presentation from the grounds to the bedrooms, restaurant, bar and all communal areas. Staff professional. Food was exceptional both the breakfast and the degustation menu…high quality food and fantastic presentation. The chef does an excellent job. The trainee waitresses were great also. Liked one could exclusively book the pool, sauna and steam room for one hour each day.

Apart from the excellent degustation menu there were no other offerings for dinner which was a shame and resulted in us venturing out for the 2nd and 3rd nights of our stay. The bathroom was small and had poor lighting. The staff in spa lacked the professionalism of the other staff …two of the three days of our stay the sauna and steam room were not ready for our allotted time.

The welcome into the hotel was fabulous, we received a flower garland, some tea, a massage and a tour of the hotel, including meeting the chef personally. Our room was beautifully decorated and being from England, it felt like a home from home for us. The plunge pool/ sauna was fantastic and we were grateful we could book this area to have it to ourselves. We had the 6 course tasting menu for dinner both nights which was about £40 per person - unbelievable value for the food that was served. Michelin star level food at dinner and breakfast, everything tasted divine.

The beds were a little bit hard for us but other people may think differently. There was also bright light shining underneath our door from the hallway all night, maybe something underneath the door to block out the light would help?

The Bellwood Manor was absolutely stunning. We wished we stayed one more night. We for sure will be back.

The only comment I have re. our stay was the woman sitting behind the desk at the spa. When we had our assigned time to visit the spa she blamed the cleaners for why the sauna was not on as oppose to taking any responsibility. She was aloof and unhelpful. However, management was amazing and from beginning to end Yomal was in communication from the moment we booked, to needing accomodation for our driver and providing us breakfast at crack of dawn. I have given this property 10/10. It was by far our favorite place to stay in Nuwara Eliya. Look forward to returning.

The Bellwood Manor is an excellent boutique hotel. It offers a quaint reminder of the colonial era with exceptional service and represents Sri Lanka very well. The staff are personal, attentive and responsive to any/all needs. The entire staff go above and beyond to make sure your stay is comfortable. Truly a remarkable service experience. The breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner service are designed to be personal and enjoyable; they will tailor the selection to your preferences. The property is exceptionally well maintained with a detail eye obvious in all the staff and leadership.

The positives far outweigh any small issues. Nothing to critique.

This is the nicest hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff are unbelievably kind, courteous and helpful - especially Janaka and Yomal. The room was insane - so beautiful and the attention to detail on things such as lamps, wood, taps, is utterly beautiful. Bathrobes and slippers provided, water, tea, coffee and chocolates. We were blown away on our 2 night stay. The spa was beautiful (private for 1 hour), the grounds and views are great, 6 course dinner was delicious and afternoon tea was a treat. We played billiards, the bar was beautiful, the library was lovely. There are not enough words to describe how amazing this place is. Walkable to town too, but we only left for a few hours because we just loved experiencing the hotel so much. This hotel is obviously more expensive than others you could choose but it is honestly worth it - book it! You won’t regret it.

Drinks were expensive at the bar but we understood this - alcohol is pricey across Sri Lanka and here there is bound to be a premium. Maybe some soft music in the billiard room and bar would be nice.

The Bellwood Manor was by far the best hotel we stayed at during our week in Sri Lanka – and honestly, one of the best places I’ve ever stayed at in all my travels. A charming manor full of character, set in a stunning location, where every single detail is thought through with so much care. From the moment we arrived, the staff were absolutely amazing – kind, attentive, and incredibly caring. We were truly pampered from start to finish, and I’ve never experienced service like that before. They even took the time to share the fascinating history of the manor, which made our stay even more special. The quality of both the interior and exterior is outstanding. The woodwork, the materials, the decor… everything is done with impeccable taste and gives off such a warm and luxurious atmosphere. Even the garden is immaculately maintained – the grass was trimmed like a golf course, which just shows how much pride they take in every corner of the property. The dinner was like something from a gourmet restaurant – refined, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The pool and sauna area, located in the old stables, is absolutely fabulous – luxurious, peaceful, and completely private for us. Our room was gorgeous, but the real standout was the exceptional bathroom – spacious, elegant, and just perfect. We also loved the billiard room, super classy, and the cozy bar, perfect for relaxing at the end of the day. We were genuinely and sincerely blown away by this place, and I recommend it wholeheartedly. One thing is certain: we’ll definitely be coming back!

Bellwood Manor is an absolute gem! The staff were not only very friendly but also incredibly accommodating, making our stay seamless and enjoyable. The location is perfect for exploring Nuwara Eliya, and the stunning views from the manor of horses, cricket fields, and tea plantations add to its charm. The spa is a true highlight; the masseuse is phenomenal, and we’ve never felt more relaxed. The chef and service staff are top-notch, delivering an exceptional fine dining experience (while making kid-friendly meals as needed, too). This stay was rejuvenating for my entire family, including my young son. I can’t recommend Bellwood Manor enough—it’s a haven of tranquility and hospitality! While the drive up to Nuwara Eliya can be tough, I would come back to Bellwood Manor in a heartbeat.

This was by far the best accomodation we had in sri lanka. Starting from the quality of the service which was incredible thanks to Kavidi and Janaka. They were very attentive to our needs, they even organised a horseback riding tour for us which was amazing. Chef Thalina was incredible as well. He is dedicated to making delicious meals and cooked to perfection. The manor is gorgeous, the rooms, the common areas, the spa, the garden, everything is beautiful and feels very warm. You immediately feel like home, we watched the olympics with the staff drinking a cocktail it was beautiful experience, we will be back again for sure.

one night was not enough :-)

This is one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever stayed in and I’ve traveled the world. This hotel is great for people who want to come and have a peaceful stay alone or couples who want a romantic getaway and for families. The general manager is there to look after you personally and will go the extra mile to make you feel at home. They were so friendly with my daughter. I just can’t say enough good things. The chef makes you whatever you want and makes the most delicious meals. The breakfast was outstanding. The fireplace was just right! The after tea was delicious. We took a horse ride to the Buddhist temple just up the hill. The staff will arrange whatever you want. The smiles never stop and they are genuine. The rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable very beds. This was a very welcome stop for us in Sri Lanka. I can’t wait to come back. This hotel is worth every cent!
