Booked for a one night stay after an activities day in the lakes. Communication prior to arrival was great with there is convenient parking at the front of the B&B. The host, Vickie, greeted us on arrival and was lovely and friendly. The room and ensuite bathroom were immaculate, very modern with everything you needed. Nice little touches like home made cake, shortbread, cheese snacks and a chocolate on the pillow were well received. Breakfast the next morning was absolutely fantastic and finished our stay off nicely. Will definitely be staying here again when next in the area.

Very nice B&B near the town centre. Tastefully decorated and had lots of little extra touches in the room which was nice. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed and a lovely bathroom. The owner was friendly and communication was good throughout the check in process. Breakfast was pre ordered the night before and there was a plentiful choice of menu items. I enjoyed my overnight stay and would recommend.

Parking was difficult when I first arrived but after driving around a few times, managed to get a spot right outside the front door, so worked out fine in the end.

Was it luck? Or is it always like it?? (Parking) Outside, after hours was free. It was easy to gain access and pick up our key. The staircase was wide and allowed us to carry our luggage up without any problems. Breakfast was as good as I could have wished for. I think it was individually cooked rather than cooked and stored en-mass until served.

We only stayed one night so it met our needs and expectations. There was free parking for a set time limit in the multi storey carpark but this did fit in with our arrival time and the free on road parking from 6pm

Lovely warm welcome and a spacious, well equipped, quiet room with en suite shower. Very comfortable bed and such a lot of extras from toiletries to edible treats. Vickie went out of her way to provide the requested fat free yoghurt at breakfast, which had a wide choice of dishes and was perfectly cooked and presented. We would happily pay more to stay in such a well positioned and presented accommodation.

Truly a great stay - we enjoyed everything.

Vicky, the owner, was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. The room was very comfortable and the en suite bathroom was faultless. It's central to Penrith, so plenty of places to eat in the evening. Great location for exploring the Lake District. A great find!

We managed to get one of the two parking spots at the rear. If we hadn't, not sure where we would have parked as all the spaces at the front were taken.

Everything about our stay! Vickie was a very warm and welcoming host, always happy to have a chat and offer restaurant suggestions for the local area. Breakfast was made to order and very tasty, with continental breakfast options (eg yoghurt, cereal etc) also available. The room itself felt spacious, modern and tastefully / thoughtfully decorated. We would definitely consider staying at Abbey House again on our next trip to Penrith.

Nothing in particular, we really enjoyed our stay! One point to keep in mind with breakfast orders is that, given hot breakfasts are made to order, guests need to indicate the night beforehand the time they expect to arrive at breakfast. We didn't find this bothersome ourselves, though others might prefer more flexibility.

The host Vicky was lovely..our room was ready early for us which was great..the room was really nice and comfortable .the welcome pack was an added extra,and the room was so spacious and very comfortable..I will be definitely be booking there again so we can use it for a base to navigate around the lakes..the breakfast was lovely and such a good variety..loved the coffee (s) by the way..

Host Vickie was really friendly and helpful, she even offered to take is for our car, which we'd left at a local wedding venue! The room was bright and spacious and with lots of extra details, like bathrobes, chocolates, lovely toiletries, cooling fan, and snacks in the room. It was modern, but still had plenty of character, and everything was immaculately clean. Breakfast was fab 👌🏻

Great location for stop off on way home from Scotland. Two minute walk to town centre & 15 min drive to Ullswater lake. Felt home from home and with lots of thoughtful touches like biscuits & spare toiletries. Parking on road in front. Had room at back or property, very peaceful. Great breakfast (included). Host very friendly & helpful, good communication prior to stay.

Pillow a bit hard but that’s down to personal preference.

Vickie was just the perfect host. Her wonderfully presented Abbey House provided everything that a pair of walkers could require. From the absolutely brilliant breakfast, to the bedrooms, everything was well thought out, and presented with a flourish.

The fact that we only stayed a week! We definitely could have stayed longer.
