We enjoyed everything about the property. It is a beautifully restored medieval farmhouse and Francesco was the most gracious of hosts, even though we showed up earlier than we said we would. Our room was very comfortable and large. Breakfast was amazing with the best cappuccino coffee. Francesco helped us organize a tour of a Parmigiano Reggiano factory and gave us fabulous recommendations for restaurants and museums in Parma. The location is great with plenty of parking if you’re traveling by car.

Review: A Charming Rural Escape Near Parma Our stay at this cozy rural house near Parma was nothing short of delightful. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with the warmest hospitality by our host, who went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. The breakfast each morning was a highlight of our stay. It featured an array of homemade goodies and locally sourced ingredients that made every meal a treat. The cleanliness of the house was impeccable. Every corner of the property was spotless, making us feel right at home. The rooms were beautifully rustic charm decorated. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, adorned with soft linens that guaranteed a good night’s sleep.

One minor drawback was the immediate surroundings, which weren’t particularly scenic. However, the house’s location near Parma was excellent, offering easy access to the city and its attractions. Once inside the house, we felt like we were in an oasis, completely secluded from the outside world.

Quiet and rustic. Lovely place! We wished we could have stayed longer as it was nice to just chill in their study or the outside but it was very hot (it is summer after all ) …. still worth the view of the garden and just the vibe of the old country! Francesco was very responsive, accommodating and helpful. the rooms are cool and spacious and the family loved it ! Location was ideal just 8 mins by car to the city center. Breakfast was a lot and had a good variety of pastries,fruit.

Beautiful property with quirky interiors in a very convenient location to visit Parma. Our hosts provided us with lots of information about where to eat and where to park in Parma which was extremely useful. The breakfast was amazing…all home cooked and local and a great selection of food served in a lovely breakfast room. Our host packed up the breakfast we didn’t eat for us to take away for lunch. Wish we had stayed longer than one night.

A charming family farmhouse just outside the centre of Parma. The property has been lovingly restored and our room was very spacious and comfortable as well as full of character. Francesco and Angelica were very attentive hosts and we very much enjoyed our welcome glass of Prosecco and a wonderful breakfast.

Podere Merlo is a charming, tastefully renovated farm in a quiet rural setting but only minutes from the centre of Parma. The accommodation is delightful, spacious and very comfortable and the breakfast of local fruit, cheese, yogurt and homemade pastries was excellent. Francesco is a gracious host who went out of his way to answer our questions and help us make the most of our brief stay in Parma.

What a marvelous spot, tucked away and quiet, on a beautiful property. The home was well-decorated and quaint in the best way. We loved the decorations and charm of our room, enjoyed walking around the gated property, and our interactions with the hosts were very positive. The couple who owns the B&B went above and beyond with all the little details and the breakfast, in particular, was phenomenal, including homemade, lavender-infused panna cota. The B&B is slightly removed for the city center, so a car or taxi will likely be necessary, but it is absolutely worth it. You will wake up to the sweet smell of the garden and the birds, rather than city noises. We will return to the B&B Pomdere Merlo if we find ourselves in Parma again.

if you like architecture, you will love this place. I’ve been in Italy for three weeks and this is by far the most beautiful place that I have stayed the building is absolutely incredible and the owners are very kind and helpful. I will definitely be back. This is a hidden gem

Francesco and his wife were wonderful hosts. Great communication and support before and during the stay. The property is very charming and the breakfast was to die for.

Just be aware that the property is on the outskirts of the city, just off the highway. Once inside the grounds you do feel as though you’re in the countryside, but you can still hear the nearby traffic.

One of the loveliest places I have stayed - the farmhouse has been refurbished to take it back to its glory days and you feel as if you have stepped back in time. The hosts take every care to make your visit an exceptional stay. You will want to come back over and over again.
