Room was clean and there were enough amenities and its very quiet. I slept very well. Also, there was enough room to leave my luggage and my laptop while I went out to see Skara Brae all day and the city waiting for my next journey. The staff were very kind even the reception at the restaurant I wasn't a guest and I just borrowed fork to eat the food I bought from Tesco and she gave me the whole set i.e., spoon, fork and knife with table napkin, I told her Ill wash it when I bring it back and she said oh god don't! we'll clean it for you :-) very kind.
The price :-) but its understandable I went in summer and the island probably only make money during summer. Plus, I didn't book far ahead. But it is okay because I went for very specific thing I just want to see the Skara Brae.

Location is great, food in Kirkwall Hotel is very good. The room itself is nice and cozy, with especially luxurious bedsheets! It’s fairly clean, warm and dry - what you need in Orkney weather :) All staff were lovely too. I also liked the Harbour Lounge where I could sit and work with a fabulous view.
While everything was good, the room at the Shore is very much overpriced for what it is. It had quite literally the “bin view”, very little natural light and lots of light on and off all night from the opposite window. The blinds are useless pretty much. The mattress was not very comfy. The whole building is old and smelly, no soundproofing at all. I didn’t mind any of this for one night stay, but would not recommend for a longer stay (unless perhaps in a room facing the harbour). I wouldn’t notice any of this if the price was at least three times cheaper!

The staff were amazing, and very responsive. The room was large and well equipped, with two comfortable armchairs, bed, desk, nightside tables, and food stand. The washroom was also nice. The location was great, close to the harbour, the old town, and the bus terminal.
The bed was a little hard. We had a room overlooking the harbour, which was nice, except that we arrived there on a Saturday, and there was a huge amount of noise from the pub around the corner. If you are coming on a weekend and noise matters to you, request a room away from the street.

I regularly stay in Kirkwall overnight as I live on the north isles and the bed was the best I've slept in by far, the bedroom was cool and airy and the shower had great pressure which are the two most important things for me.
It would have been nice to have a small fridge so I could store fresh milk but that's me trying to think hard for something to say negatively as it wasn't a negative thing at all.

The pillows where way too soft and it would of been nice to have some firm ones inside the bedroom to choose from. Everything else was ok- lovely EXCEPT the view from room 16. TO PAY £110.00 and not have a view of any kind. Is sad... next time id expect to pay no more than £50
The buffet breakfast was lovely but even though in chaffing dishes. My food was not very hot. Appart from that a lovely selection. Maybe add a soya yoghurt for those who are Vegan/ Lactos Intollerant etc...

Comfortable room at back of hotel, so no street noise, friendly staff, good breakfast. Great location - is effectively like an annex of the Kirkwall Hotel - you check in there. Don't be put off by the entrance to the Shore, just go to the Kirkwall next door, and the staff will look after you.
A bit of noise from the ventilation shaft directly below my window, and rooms arent well sound proofed from each other - but it was a Sunday night, very calm and I was tired, so I went to sleep immediately

Spacious, comfortable suite. Breakfast was at the Kirkwall hotel next door. Good choice of food. Friendly staff. Barman gave me almost a double shot for a single as it was the end of the bottle. Good location on the waterfront. Free parking nearby which always had spaces.
The Shore has a bit of a run down appearance, but the rooms inside were great.

Our room was large & comfortable with windows at the front towards the ferry. Big comfy chairs to lounge in to watch the Olympics. We followed the Shetland locations around & swam at Bains beach. All terrific.
Dogs sitting on the furniture & people feeding them out of a dog bowl after their dinner was chopped up at the table!!!

It was so easy to get to the North Isles ferry in the morning and I was able to check in to the Shore late from the Northlink Ferry from Aberdeen which got in to Hatston at 11pm I had a single room. The view out the window was the fire escape but the bed was very comfortable and there was a neat super clean en-suite. There was a cafetière and biscuits supplied. It was a single traveller’s haven!
Well the view could have better but there has to be a fire escape

The location was great. The room was very clean and comfortable. We actually had two rooms, and loved that children could have their separate room with two comfortable beds.
If I really need to find something negative about our stay it could be that the reception was in another building, and the ground floor of our building was looking a bit abandoned, but that didn't influence quality of our room.
