My stay was straight after the cyclone so obviously not all the facilities were working. The stay was brilliant considering the challenges they had regarding lack of food, water etc. The island had its own generator so we were fortunate. I was treated extremely well by the management and staff.

Many hotels and resorts in the Pacific fail to keep their maintenance up and Hideaway is typical of this...no worse and no better. Personally it does not bother me that much but great snorkelling destination in places like the Philippines offer much better value. Owners of such resorts in Vanuatu need to move fast on this before they start to lose business.

Everything was amazing. It's clean, comfy beds, and the location is a must—just a few minutes' walk to the village, with a 24-hour boat in case you need to cross from the island. Beautiful sunsets, great place to spend your holidays ! As is an island, you can go for a swim directly from the hotel, or the volcanic beach is just 2 min away crossing to the village. Kayaks, snorkeling gear, and snorkeling tours are available for guests. The staff is the best. I can't remember all the names as there were so many, but everyone was so kind and helpful (kitchen, gift shop, restaurant, reception, housekeeping, the guys from the boat/dive shop). Stella, Dell, Jim, the Filipino girl, Sara, I think it was—they're 10/10, and all the rest as well. Will definitely go back.

We especially enjoyed the reef with many pretty fishes to see. We went out snorkelling every day and we would see something different each time. We also got to post a postcard at the underwater post box which is something different. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming and go out of their way to help you and ensure your stay is enjoyable. When you stay at the resort you have free use of snorkel equipment including fins, kayaks and a guided snorkel tour too! We stayed in a bungalow with shared bathroom and our room was very clean and comfortable and came with a fan (essential I think in the tropics) a kettle with tea/ coffee and a bonus of a fridge. It had everything we needed and was cleaned every day so was spotless. Great value for money. We enjoyed our meals in the restaurant at night and also took the opportunity to make use of the shuttle boat ( free ) that frequently crosses back to the mainland when we needed a change. We loved this place so much we stayed twice on the same holiday. If I ever visited Vanuatu again I would definitely stay again.

There was nothing we didn’t like.

The staff were beyond lovely!! Went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed! As a solo female traveler they all looked out for you, especially the boat guys making sure they’d be there waiting for you if you were out late, one of my transfers arrived an hour later than expected (island time) and the guy from the boat came and checked on me. The went scuba diving and snorkelling, saw a turtle and loads of fish!

The reviews are right the property is a little tired and worn in places but that didn’t bother me as the island is beautiful and staying so close to the water was really special

While only having a 24h layover in Vanuatu, this place was great to dive a little into the natural beauty of this country. The snorkeling was amazing with a colourful reef and plenty of fish to discover. The room was comfy, the communal bathroom clean. The airport shuttle seems to work 50/50. My pick up was flawless and uncomplicated and brought me straight to the island (check-in after 6pm was no problem)

My airport shuttle back to the airport however was a disaster. The driver Jim (who dropped me the day before, and who assured me it's only a 15min drive so I wouldn't have to leave too early to the airport) just decided not to rock up. So 1, 30h before my flight I was still stuck on the island. The receptionist tried her best to try for an alternative, but ended up refunding me the cost of the airport shuttle (2.000 VUV) and I ended up hitchhiking to the airport. Beside the stress, I ended up arriving just in time. So while I recommend this place for a peaceful 1 day layover, give yourself enough time getting back to the airport.

We spent our 20th wedding anniversary here as this is where we had our honeymoon. The location is great. Stella & the staff at Hideaway are so friendly & very helpful. The restaurant has lovely food. The snorkelling was great, unfortunately the coral reef isn't as good as it used to be. But if you head out a bit, it's fantastic. Our room was very clean & comfortable. The resort definitely needs a revamp, apparently the sale to the new owners hasn't done it any favours. No idea what they are doing with the walls they building at waters edge, & the pool? Definitely need the stairs back with the railing to enter & exit the water. I would definitely go back. Would be great too for day trips!

Shame the owners don't fix up the resort. Such a lovely island that could be so much better.

Breakfast was freshly cooked to order as was the other food and snacks, all the staff were lovely and friendly and couldn't have been more helpful, had wonderful relaxed and interesting dives with Kevin and Dell and some of the coral was quite amazing and in pristine condition

Nothing in particular that i didn't like, but for the price per night I was paying having AC in my room would have been nice

The location is amazing and staff were so accomodating and friendly, I could not fault them. The reef is beautiful and hiring gear is so easy. We also went scuba diving with Dell and he was amazing. All staff were. Room was great for the price we paid and having a private beach entrance and small garden was a treat! Felt like your typical island living

Breakfast is not included and not really worth paying extra for. An unnecessary additional cost for cereal and bread. This is a management thing though, staff made up for this with their smiling faces and warm welcomes. Rooms don’t have aircon which is fine if you can handle the heat

Relaxed and chill vibe. The island felt more like home than a resort usually does. The staff were friendly and personable The scuba diving booking excellent and closeby Charging to the room made it easy to relax on the beach without the need for phone/wallet. Snorkelling the house reef right off the beach was better than any tour I’d done in previous Efate trips- safe enough for me to do solo.

Great location for a relaxing holiday. Short bus ride to the city. However, don't pay too much for the public buses. A ride should not cost more than 150 to 200 VT to the city. Hot showers are available. Lots of activities are offered or can be arranged. Great for snorkelling (compared to Tanna though most corals of the house reef were dead, which made it easy to see the plenty and colourful fish).

The ferry to the mainland runs very frequently but expect to wait for a bit at times. The diving prices were roughly 50% higher than stated on the website, I decided not to go diving and went for snorkelling instead. Be prepared for a 3% surcharge if you pay by card. Most of the beach is coral - not sand.
