The balcony with the river view was wonderful, as were the thermal water place. We loved that it was possible to rent bikes directly from the hotel, though it was a pity they had to be returned by 7 PM and not later. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. We also really enjoyed the live piano music in the evenings.

The breakfast was really disappointing. There’s an employee making omelets, but I didn’t like that he used the same pan for everyone. My omelet had a meaty taste because the person before me asked for meat. There’s not a lot variety for vegans, and it seems the omelets aren’t made from fresh eggs but rather from Industrial egg liquid. The shower also leaks water even when the door is closed, causing the bathroom floor to flood – the shower door definitely needs better sealing.

The hotel is wonderful, and a wonderful deal by the standard of comparable hotels, at least for North Americans. Its historic buildings have been sensitively redone, with airy modern public spaces. Individual rooms are capacious, high- ceilinged, with luxurious bath, powerful air conditioning, private balcony overlooking gardens and river. Immaculately serviced. Very nice on-site restaurant with lovely, tree-shaded river terrace and sweet staff. We took every dinner there for 4 nights (usually choosing the buffet option) which is a great option given Bad Schandau’s lack of dining venues, and were never disappointed. Likewise, given this picturesque but small spa town’s limited parking, the 18 Euro daily hotel garage parking option is actually pretty reasonable.

Really nothing. The Toskana thermals baths next door, to which hotel guests have complementary access, is pretty tired looking, but would be good for keeping kids cool and occupied on one of the sultry days this region can have. Also, if you’re going to do real walking/ hiking among the amazing sandstone formations of the national park behind the town, go to Tourist Info and get a real map— the one the hotels hand out is worthless.

Perfect location - in the city center, ferry boat and bus station in front of the hotel, easy acces to rail station. Excelent breakfast with plenty of choice, very tasty. English breakfast, continental breakfast, fish, vegetable, salad, fruits, pancakes… Hotel is clean, staff is nice and helpful. Clean smaller wellness with a river view terase in the fourth floor is nice and guests have also free entrance to Toscana bath. With guest card from hotel you can use ferry, busses, local trains and tram in Bad Schandau free of charge. I can fully recomend this hotel and hope I can come back one day.

We missed coffee machine or a kettle in the room, would be very comfortable to have a morning coffee on balcony and watch the river. There is an international railway line behind the river, with closed windows we hadn’t any problem to sleep, completely quiet room, but I can’t imagine how to sleep here in summer without air condition, with open window it must be too noisy. But the other rooms with a city or cotyard view will be probably ok. I didn't like the very small (shot glass size) disposable plastic cups for wellness, too much useless waste every day. The same with disposable slippers for guests in the room. Why does anyone give them? After all, they are not at all suitable for wearing or for wellness, another unnecessary waste.

Lovely, spacious and comfortable room with choice of pillows and plenty of storage space. Excellent breakfast in a lovely location with views over the River Elbe. Hotel was right in the heart of town with easy access to ferries, buses and shops as well as the national park. Staff were helpful with my various enquiries.

The room air conditioning didn’t really work properly and it was 34 when we were there so it was quite uncomfortable at night. The shower was over the bath which had a curved bottom and an extremely stiff shower screen so it wasn’t the easiest to get in and out or use without slipping.

Arrival not as it used to be before the renovation Stuff is just not really how I expect in a 5 star Hotel or how it was before renovation 2014 we arrived they welcomed us drove our car away, took our laggige to our room.. This time, I would not even feel comfortable to ask them to take it to the car by leaving which would be normal for me to a 5 star Hotel. The welcome and reception adea needs an update just not in the flow. Yet, everyone is good intentions that we appreciated.

Fantastic staff -especially in the restaurant at breakfast and dinner who made me feel very welcome and cared for! Amazing breakfast and the pool area was super clean and relaxing! Brilliant to be have the travel card too.

The lounge areas weren't as welcoming/comfortable as they could be - would be nice to be able to get a sandwich/snack in the bar area, the evening buffet at 39 euros/head was a lot of money- the food was no doubt good as all the other food I had was good but it's a large outlay if you don't have a big appetite

Great breakfast, great facilities, cleaning and everything does help to get a proper rest and relaxation. I have been there for a second time and Im sure I will be back, its a great place to unwind and recharge your batteries.

Excellent restaurant quality and very good breakfast. The services provided by the hotel and the facilities have high quality standards.

The bed and pillows were uncomfortable considering the price, and excellent quality of the rest of services. Then, at check in the receptionist told us that the voucher at Toskana Thermes was valid both for the day of arrival and departure (we stayed only one night). It was annoying that this info was wrong, the voucher was valid only the day of arrival. The communication from reception operators and their English level shall be improved.

We loved the friendliness and service level of the staff, the breakfast was amazing, the garden and patio and views were really nice and we thoroughly enjoyed our evenings on the patio. The thermal spa nearby, was very relaxing, although a bit of a walk through the outside, so definitely requires getting dressed to go back and forth.

The 1st room, the one we initially booked did not have air conditioniong and on a 30 degree day it was very toasty. We were able to switch to another room with air conditioning for a small upcharge, but unfortunately that room and bathroom were significantly smaller. There was no bidet in the bathroom of the 2nd room and instead of a double bed, it had 2 twin beds, which did not fit together seamlessly, but with a gap, and that was not that comfortable.
