Our room was a family room - 1 double and 2 single beds - and was consequently large. It had more than ample storage and living space. There were lots of little touches such as cotton wool, cotton buds, beside the usual shower and shampoo, provided. Tissues were more than adequately provided, even on the landing cabinets and so were available to all. No aircon but a large pedestal fan and we noticed several electrical heaters in the room for stays in cooler seasons. The lady who waits at table at breakfast who I think said she was born in Finland is a treasure. Nothing is too much trouble and she never stops moving - a real hard worker and very pleasant to talk with too. Breakfast is freshly cooked to order from a fixed menu. Overall, for a very reasonable cost it was situated a pleasant but appetite inducing walk to the centre of Ely where three good eateries can be found along the waterside. There are others in the city away from the river too. The Cathedral is not to be missed, just be a bit smarter than us and ask for your ticket to be extended free of charge to an annual pass so you can return and photograph those bits you missed. We didn't!!
The blind in the bathroom did not completely cover the window, although it looked onto a golf course, I think, so maybe it wouldn't be an issue, but it did look a little odd. There is no refrigerator/cooler in the room, which would have been great for keeping our water cool when we stayed during a rare English heatwave! I never saw the bar open during our 3 night stay. It would have been lovely to enjoy a relaxing evening drink in the large, welcoming garden.

Very characterful hotel in a lovely old building, with beautiful gardens around. Rooms are a decent size, the first time I stayed (family of 4) we got a massive room with a 4-poster double bed and two singles, the second time (one parent and child) an attic room that was still a good size for a double and two singles. Lovely breakfast with plenty of choice, but I had to request a discount for children as I thought it a bit much charging the same price as for adults.
The bed was pretty firm in this room. The curtains didn't block out much light, which is an issue in the middle of summer for me.

Friendly helpful staff, brilliant location close to the centre but with lovely relaxing garden to sit out in the evening and daytime. Fabulous food - breakfast was home cooked and included smoked haddock as well as full English and freshly prepared fruit salad, stewed plums etc. Bedroom and bathroom well equipped with good quality toiletries and biscuits/teas etc. Free parking was a real bonus. Relaxed atmosphere- would recommend for a visit to Ely.
I prefer plain light rooms so the decor wouldn't be my first choice but it's been nicely done and a minor concern.

Our host was very welcoming and friendly and the house has masses of character. We both really enjoyed our stay and would definitely choose this guest house again if in Ely. Also it is located just a few minutes from the city centre and has ample parking. We had both dinner and breakfast and both meals were excellent. I particularly liked the beer battered cod we had for the evening meal, it was bought fresh at the market that day.
The only issue really was that the water had to be turned off at night due to a leak in the mains. However I believe the guest house manager is working to rectify this so it shouldn't be a problem going forward. The water was on during normal day time, so didn't cause a lot of issues. For me the positives outweigh the negatives.

Friendly host, kind and hospitable. Location of guest house very good. Room pleasant and spacious for a single. Nice warm room, shower great too. Very comfortable bed. Very nice, well presented breakfast and very welcome, tasty dinner on first night. Generally very happy and definitely would like to stay again when I go to Ely. I recommend the Nyton for a very good value, pleasant stay.
Nothing really. I felt well rested and relaxed having slept well. It is straightforward, comfortable accommodation but don't expect 5 star facilities many of which I don't need anyway.

Ideal location to walk into Ely..breakfast was good..bed/bedding was very comfy room was fair size and had all the necessary things you would need during your stay. Lovely lounge/dining/bar area very relaxing. It was clean altho there were marks on the bottom of the divan bed it was clean but think the whole place could do with a deep clean and windows doors freshening up with paint etc..it does have an older worlde feel to it panel walls lots of wood which is very nice. I t was hood value we paid £75 for one night i would not of paid anymore!
The hotel is a lovely old house but decor etc is in need of upgrading its very dated especially the soft furnishings/curtains in lounge could do with replacing as many looked old and faded the decor in the room was very miss matched and old..bathroom was OK agan looked old. We stayed in ground floor room which overlooked the garden..we felt the TV was small for the size of room and the sound proofing was non existent you could hear people talking walking etc ftom the room above us which was not ideal..but with it being an old building I would think this is not easy to rectify!

Despite some negative reviews. I had a great time here. It was only used as a stop gap for the night but it excellent value for money. Had tea and coffee. TV. Kettle. Hair dryer. Iron. Plenty of space to hand clothes and draws and a nice comfy bed. Plus a lovely view and couldn't hear any traffic. The host was pleasant too. I unfortunately couldn't try breakfast as I had ab early train back but that didn't deter from my lovely stay. I'd come again 😊
Not really anything to do with hotel or staff but the people upstairs were quite loud. Kept stomping about. Took me a while to get to sleep. So perhaps the floorboards are a little thin. Staff could be a little slow responding to emails but it all worked out for the best in the end anyway.

Our host, José, was a stand-in for the usual host at the Nyton. He was exceptional as a host, both friendly, happy to have a chat, and accommodating. When checking the reviews for this location beyond booking.com, I was a bit concerned by recent reviews, but I found none of the issues highlighted. Our room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was modernised and easy to use. All windows were well insulated and curtained. It was lovely. The free breakfast ranged from a choice of five simple but fulfilling options. Furthermore, there was an adequate selection of drinks and breakfast snacks from the adjacent bar.
The soundproofing from the bedroom door to the hallway wasn't amazing and you could hear doors opening and closing from other rooms down the hall, as well as voices. There wasn't noise beyond 9.30pm which was helpful!

The room was very warm and cosy, beds were very comfortable. Shower was a bit slow but there was hot water and it was clean. Dining room was clean and smart, breakfast choices were excellent and cooked food was very nice and a decent quality. Very quiet at night.
This is an old house and is in need of a huge cash injection. There were wires all over the room where electrical items had been added over time. The television is much too small for the room. We drove past it several times in the dark as the signage for the entrance is not clear.
