We spent 2 nights on Puzzle in November - not the best time to stay on a narrowboat in England but the brilliant central heating made it totally possible. It was very cosy and had absolutely everything we needed. If you're looking for something unique and bespoke, this is definitely the place for you. Martin was an excellent host, meeting us and allowing us to be flexible in checking in and out. There were a few little extras waiting for us on board which were much appreciated plus tea/coffee and condiments etc. For our second night, we bought food from the Tesco superstore (5 minutes walk away) and cooked in. It's a shame the weather was too chilly to sit outside on the deck for drinks or breakfast or to open the side hatches but we'll just have to come again when it's warmer! Ely is a great place and I highly recommend the cathedral tour and Octagon Tower tour.

The wi-fi connectivity is very poor generally in Ely - something to bear in mind if you need to work or use wifi for streaming etc. We knew this beforehand as it is explained in Puzzle's info. Access to Puzzle is along a pontoon and then over a little bridge without a handrail so be prepared and don't get too drunk ;)

The boat looks stunning, everything you need is there! Loved the porthole cushions for privacy! First time on a narrowboat and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were shown around by the man who did all the refurbishment, very helpful. Hopefully get to stay again 🙏

There was nothing negative.

Well located close to the centre of Ely, plenty of restaurants in easy reach and in the centre of town. Peaceful mooring, with parking available nearby. Close to train station (~5 minute walk). Narrow boat is modern and very well appointed, with heating for those chillier nights. Kitchen fine for preparing light meals, safety equipment complete, including lifejackets.

None of these points were a problem for us, but you might to bear in mind: If you want perfect peace and quiet, you might not like the proximity to the train line, but the noise is barely noticeable inside. Steps must be negotiated to arrive and alight. Great for couples and maybe for families with young children. Would be a squeeze with more than two adults.

It was a very different experience staying on a narrowboat. The welcome pack of prosecco, chocs very nice touch. Well equipped kitchen. Cosy and warm. Location great for shops, pubs, restaurants. Host was very helpful and attentive

We felt the bed was a little small for two adults definitely not a double more a 3/4.

Was absolutely perfect stay on Puzzle. So quiet and peaceful with a perfect location. The wine and chocolates were very much appreciated. The boat had everything we needed. Having breakfast with the swans was amazing and we enjoyed just watching the boats go by. The location was great, close to everything and some great riverside walks.

Getting access to boat may be tricky with mobility issues.

The uniqueness of it in a beautiful and quiet location yet within easy reach of all the facilities we could ask for. Spotlessly clean with thoughtful extras like milk, Prosecco and maltesers
