Stayed in two different rooms (as booked them separately). Both very decent rooms one twin, one double and the hotel was very quiet both nights. Very clean overall (but the bottom edge of the shower glass in my first room could do with descaling). Staff very welcoming and accommodating. I stayed for the horse trials nearby for which it is really well located. I didn’t use it but the bar area looked clean and comfortable. There wasn’t much room in the car park (the hotel was full), but there is plenty of roadside parking outside. The box of Danish left for early departing guests is a nice touch. The kitchen was closed my first night (Fri) due to a private function but there is a decent takeaway a few doors along the street.

There wasn’t a chair in my second room. Although there wasn’t a lot of spare space, it’s good to have somewhere other than the end of the bed to sit to watch the tv. Breakfast at the weekend is not until 8.30 which was far too late for me. It didn’t matter too much as I knew I was leaving early but I wouldn’t have known if I hadn’t had to check out and back in (due to having two bookings). There were other guests who didn’t know looking for breakfast at 6.50 when I came down.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Venue is close to Ely, Cambridge, and Bury St Edmunds, all very historical, and was the reason for our break. Having a lift was a plus and they provided a good breakfast.

We were woken very early, a number of mornings, with a delivery lorry with it's reversing beep beep warning going. Had some small bathroom issues couldn't get the sink to hold water and we took a while to master the shower. Generally though very good venue for a stay and would recommend it.

Looked after by lovely staff from arrival until departure. Lovely food and service. Lovely to have bar and restaurant. Beautiful location and went for a lovely evening walk and visited church. Drinks were carried up to our room for us. Would definitely visit again. Chose location to access Ely. Could have walked it, but there is a large free car park at Barton Road which was excellent. Lovely base in order to visit Cathedral.

Too hot in room, but in fairness we could have opened skylight and there was a fan we did not use

The room was comfortable clean and nice, quiet and I slept very well. The staff has been very nice and friendly

Unfortunately there wasn't any public transport during the weekend and the connection with the town centre is non-existent if you are not going there with a car. (Clearly not the hotel's fault for that).

Nice Pub.Fairly quiet location..Plenty of free parking. Nice room & comfortable bed. As Restaurant not open for breakfast on Monday mornings we were given a selection of cold food in a carrier bag free of charge.

Didn't eat there as Restaurant not open Sunday night or Monday morning but menu looked good. T.V.reception not good. Kettle did not work in our room.Could do with another chair in room.

Room and breakfast was great, variety of evening meals, staff were welcoming - clean and tidy place - will definitely use again for our staff

Introductory email comes off a little unwelcoming and officious - but get that they dont want to be messed around with no shows and cancellations - and the welcome in person was far better.

My wife and I are mature cyclists. We travelled around Norfolk using two Sustrans routes. We stopped at five different hotels about 45 miles apart. Each hotel traditionally catered for other markets. All the staff we met on tour were friendly and helpful and all were clean. The room at the Little Downham Anchor was the most compact of our stay.

Really lovely room and very clean and quiet.

I thought there would be more kitchen equipment to help us make our breakfast. The kitchen was big and had a kettle, sink, microwave and cutlery / crockery but there was no bread knife or saucepans to cook anything in!

The breakfast was expensive for what it was - £25 for two continental breakfasts.

We could have been told that breakfast was not a full English, and the price before we had it. A bath mat in the bathroom would have been useful.
