This is a beautiful, rustic property that is decorated in 1960’s vintage folk and Appalachia style. The owners go the extra mile to make guests feel a warm welcome by turning the lights on in the room, proving a s’mores kit, free and a paid coffee bar, banana bread and a wood burning stove in the lobby. The bed was comfortable. The soaps and shampoos were natural and scented with essential oils. There was a coffee bar and fridge in room with available snacks for purchase. It is within walking distance to the downtown shops and restaurants. It is important to note that there are sidewalks and pedestrian crossings from the property to the town! Sometimes a property can be close to town and “walking distance” but really be unwalkable due to the lack of sidewalks and the journey being on the shoulders of dangerously curvy mountain roads.

It was a little hard to find places to put stuff due to all of the decorations. The bathroom did not have any countertops. There is very low lighting in the room. The AC light shined in my eyes all night. However, besides the AC light all of the other dislikes are more like individual preferences. My husband loved the low lighting.

We love this beautiful cozy modern Inn! It’s so lovely with an outdoor fire pit to roast marshmallows - s’more’s (you will find some in your room), there are bikes to take a spin around town, reception area has a bar for vine in the evenings, & breakfast drinks. The beds are super comfortable and our room had a fireplace (they seem to all have one). The bathroom had wonderful amenities, nice towels, and bathrobes. We were blown away by everything at the Outpost Inn. Also, they have super soft shirts & sweatshirts for sale . Of course, we purchased some. 😀

We would have loved to stay longer!!! This is a great place to stay.

The Outpost Inn was an exceptional, unexpected, and healing experience for me. I headed there on a whim from the Charlotte area to mend a broken heart. I had never been to the area and picked the Inn because of the outdoor fire pit, honestly! The experience was so much more than that. It was just what I needed. The hostess upon arrival, a lovely young woman who greeted me and made me feel welcome and right at home. The decor of the main living room/bar/check-in area was so tastefully done, warm, and welcoming. It's a place I could envision living. I did not want to leave! I met some very kind women at the bar for some great bonding time. Again, just what I needed, and I hope to return soon!

Adding a light breakfast would have been a nice addition.

What a wonderful find! The remodeling done over the past couple years looks great, the rooms have a great feel, the whole property has a relaxed vibe, the staff is casual and friendly, and there are many places inside and out to lounge and relax. Many little touches, both decorative and provided, make it feel home-y in the mountains. Walkable to town, though it's more likely you'd take the short drive. The king bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom well appointed. And the price was very fair. Unquestionably, we would return here when in Highlands.

Location was great, even though on a major travel route in/out of town. Staff very friendly. Vibe best described as Woodstocky cool. Bed was super comfortable and studio room was great space. Hadn't spun vinyl in over 30 years so listening to Al Green on a record player brought us back with a big smile.

Road next to hotel was being paved so parking limited during our stay. Staff's cars, Delivery vehicles and paving machines occupied the few available spaces and that required guests to park around the block and walk to the hotel during the day and night. Understand this is a temporary problem, but I think the 6 parking spaces along the street should be reserved for hotel guests. Banana bread and fresh brewed, tasty coffee in am a nice touch, but not everyone like bananas so maybe a second choice or flavor rotation could be considered.

We had an overall wonderful stay in Outpost Inn. Very comfortable beds with a fireplace to warm it up when needed. I would like to highlight the great service received from all personnel, always very kind and supportive with all requests we had.

Price was a little bit high considering that breakfast was not included. You could order a coffee and some breakfast there separately, but the standar coffee was over 7 us dollars.

I did not see breakfast,but the location is excellent-walking distance from the the center.At first they offer to us different room-small,but nice looking.But the heater did not work.I asked for another room.So ,the lady from the front desk checked the availability and in couple of minutes we had another room with fire place-very worm and clean and very nice.Untill waiting for the room the lady offer to us glass of champaign or beer for welcome

The check in time is very late for me.Even I sent message to the property about early arrival,we had the room at 4:00p.m.

We stayed in The Grand, room 13. The room was perfect for us. The shower was amazing! The room was immaculate and easily accessible from the parking area. It has a fire pit outside, which we enjoyed on our first night. There is a coffee/wine bar in the lobby. The lobby is decorated so nice! The location was perfect for shopping and eating downtown.

Great place with a quirky vibe, but clean and well maintained. Nice social spaces in the lobby and with the fire pits, but the room was very quiet and private considering the unusual layout. Close enough to walk to town but far enough out to feel away from the hustle and bustle.

Cars drag when entering/exiting the road to the back parking lot. No outlets at bedside for phone chargers.

Shower drained very slowly - maybe drain pipe needs cleanout? Hue of light bulb over bathroom sink should be warm (2700K) to match the overall warm atmosphere of the room, rather than cool blue.
