As a historic property loaded with architectural delights (elevator, fireplaces etc), it was a delight. We loved the location and the town is charming.

The furnishings and bathroom were a bit "long in the tooth" and the shower head was for anyone 5'6" and shorter (all of us were 5'10 to 6' tall.) The cafe is being "reimagined" and was closed, so breakfast was a robust continental. They need a microwave. I made a breakfast sandwich with hard boiled eggs and ham and cheese on a toasted English muffin but couldn't heat it in a microwave to melt the cheese. Using the counter top "oven" would've taken way too long.

Simple breakfast. Nothing hot really. Simple registration and checkout. Little interaction with the staff. Which is OK with me. Friendly interaction when there was any. Good location. Friendly historic area. If you are into history and "charming" and "rustic" accommodations I would recommend The Brandon Inn.

Just understand that this is an old building with few accommodations. A old 1906 elevator that must be run by a staff member. Walking the stairs otherwise. This wasn't really a problem for us an we are history buffs. This is not a modern 4 star hotel by any means, but that's not what we were looking for anyway.

This is a lovely historic Inn, rich in ambiance and period furnishings yet fully modern in comfort and amenities. The rooms are spacious and nicely appointed. I've stayed here three times, and each stay the decor in the rooms has been different, so nothing cookie-cutter here. The beds are very comfy and the linens of high quality. The public areas are just wonderful. Coffee in the "Garden Room" overlooking the patio & pool area is relaxing. There is a nice breakfast area serving coffee, juice, fruit, cereal, meats & cheese and breads opening to the Garden Room. Nice. The location is ideal. You can walk to restaurants, the one grocery store in town and to the various shops. A special gem.

Sometimes, the traffic is a bit noisy, but that is minor compared to everything else.

Breakfast offerings were what we expected, the usual choices that many hotels advertise as 'continental' - nothing exceptional but we could start our day with hot coffee (individual pods), some toast, pastries, boiled eggs, yogurt and fruit. We were there on a weekday morning so not many guests in an old, empty dining room, furnished with what looked like small patio tables. The hotel shows its' age but we were happy with the room - clean, with a comfortable bed and a renovated and spotless bathroom. For dinner there are a couple of good places for dinner within walking distance.

There wasn't much to dislike. The hotel is an older building so there were some slanting floors and a bit of an abandoned feel (mid-week in winter) but it actually felt quite charming.

Wonderful historic hotel in a charming town. Spacious and welcoming rooms, lobby and common spaces full of fascinating period details that make the place truly special. The staff were extremely kind and helpful. There is an elevator dating back to the early 1900s, which can only be operated by staff—a very understandable choice given its historic value. But they are always available to operate it for guests, either for luggage or simply upon request.

The breakfast was far above the norm in quality and variety of food, making it possible to eat a healthy meal instead of the high carb and sugar laden offerings in most hotel breakfasts. The staff were very helpful with our luggage when checking in and out. Our room was spacious and bright and very comfortable.

We had trouble adjusting the temperature in the room. We were told it’s a new system so should have worked. Guess we needed instructions.

Right as we arrived the owner greeted us with a warm welcome. He even took us up with three manual elevator. It definitely looked like he puts a lot of care into making the inn a gathering place - there were dancing lessons in the ballroom. The room was big and very clean. The beds were super comfy. The environment was quiet. It’s neat to sleep in a historical place. The breakfast is definitely not a grab and go but more like a proper little breakfast with English muffins, bagels, coffee, juice, fruits… etc all set up in a nice dining room.

Everything around it closes at 8pm. Hard to get a bite to eat if you just come off the road. But that’s not because of the property itself, it’s just a little sleepy town.

The historical ambiance and decor was great! We love that it was dog friendly. The bed was huge and comfy! The breakfast staff was very attentive to refilling items and the food was tasty.

We were disappointed that the jets didn’t work for the tub when that was a main reason I got that type of room, and no one tried to contact me ahead of time to notify me or offer a discount for the lack of advertised amenity.

We were visiting for a graduation and we are happy we stayed at Brandon, a 15-20 minute drive to Middlebury College. The hotel is sort of “old world” charming, but not updated. The staff is polite and attentive if needed. The first floor spaces were open and a pleasure to be around. The elevator needed a staff person to operate and although we were on the 4th floor we were traveling light and did not use the elevator. Our room was a good size and we enjoyed it. We did not use the pool area. Overall a nice stay. If we were in the area, we would probably use it again.

Everything was as expected.

It was an old hotel with a lot of the original woodwork etc. Very cool. Slightly modernized-WiFi, USB, door lock-that was helpful. Room was clean and beds comfortable. It had a very good and simple continental breakfast- fruit, yogurt(excellent), muffins. Good location in downtown Brandon. Walking distance to a breakfast spot(eggs, pancakes, etc) and a good pub. Also nearby was a supermarket and drugstore. I could easily stay here a few days to explore the area. Also close to to Middlebury, Killington, Rutland, state parks, hiking. We enjoyed our stay.

Bathroom was small(it’s an antique building that predated plumbing and electricity). Limited elevator(another antique that was cool but needed some work).
