We took a chance and we were so satisfied that we made another reservation during foliage season. Everything was not only excellent, but there was charm everywhere. Best of Show goes to the 1926 Otis Elevator! It needs the desk clerk to operate it, but you'll never see it's like in another hotel. It's in perfect condition and big and comfortable.

No coffee maker in the room, but there was free coffee in the beautiful lobby area, so this gets an acquittal.

I didn't know when I arrived, but they will give you a free gym day pass to the local Athletic Center. WiFi was good. Good restaurants nearby (tho tough on Mondays). Big Shaw's supermarket very close, easily walkable.

Not sure what rooms are like in the main Inn building. I was in the 'annex' across the parking lot. The room was fine and fully equipped, but it did NOT have a desk-like furnishing that I could set my laptop on and sit at. Coffee/cocktail table in the room was functional, but it's not the same... Not the hotel's fault, but most local restaurants are closed on Mondays, so the few that are open can get seriously overloaded.

Location is wonderful. Staff is lovely. The property retains the old charm of a 200 year old Inn!! Be sure to check out the "West Veranda" in the evening!!

Fitted sheets did not fit the mattresses very well. No fridge in the room - yes I know the Inn is nearly 200 years old! In spite of this, definitely worth a stay!

The location is superb, right in the town center. We walked to most of the places. The front desk was very polite and helpful. I booked a king bed room for two of us plus a child. She saw my daughter and offered to upgrade us to a room with a sofa bed without extra charge. What a nice guesture.

The shower head water flow was so bad I didn't even attempt to wash my hair. I understand the importance of saving water for the environment, but with such dripping shower head, it's almost impossible to wash my long hair. Thank God we only stayed for one night, so I skipped washing my hair. If we had to stay for longer, I'd have to be in the shower for hours.

The location is great if you're visiting the town. Staff are always lovely, they even remembered us! This was our third stay in the last 7 months, and each time the sleep and comfort experiences have been great. We didn't benefit from the restaurant etc this time but the Jazz nights idea and special dinner evenings sound amazing. Hopefully will try those the next time!

Each room is a bit different, which can be a positive for some and negative for others.

The room was nice and super comfortable. Most of the staff was very nice and more than accommodating. Fantastic shower

The driveway was a little difficult to get in and out of. The staff were all super nice save one, who snapped at me for a situation I had nothing to do with. We were checked into a room that hadn't been cleaned yet, and I was fine with it, I was not upset or bothered - but one of the housekeeping girls seemed to be mad at me for it...... But all the other staff were wonderful.

Service was slow and food was warm-but not hot-when it arrived. Food was good. Wait staff was very good

The WIFI was non existent the entire stay, with no explanation from the Inn. That was very disappointing. The temperature of the shower was difficult to regulate, and ran very cold, then very hot, several times during the morning shower. Did not seem to happen during night time showers.

Totally delightful, elegant facility. Outstanding staff and services. Comfortable rooms with excellent amenities. The ambiance is great, plus it is walking distance to the downtown area and a wonderful organic grocer. Love the feeling of history not only in the Inn, but the surroundings. Just a lovely experience.

Everything to my liking. Nothing to dislike.

The staff was very helpful. We needed an early check in time and they came through with flying colors. They said they would try and get us in by 1:30 pm and we arrived around 12:30 pm and the room was ready. How nice it was to be able to get ready for the wedding we were attending without rushing and even having time to relax a little before the event.

The local phone number for the inn was not in service the day before we were supposed to arrive so that was a little inconvenient since that was the only number I had with me to confirm the reservation. Luckily I was able to get the toll free number to the inn and everything went smoothly with confirmation and the request for early check in.

Really liked the historic character and decor of the hotel, all nicely restored (especially the 97-year old Elevator, which required a hotel attendent to operate manually, making it an entertaining ride!). Nice large sitting area in the lobby. The bathroom plumbing worked flawlessly, which is often not the case in old hotels.

The hotel restaurant not being open for dinner on any of the 3 evenings we stayed (Sun-Mon-Tues), though was open for breakfast-lunch. Some may find the rooms with two full-size beds a bit 'cozy'. Don't bring lots of luggage ;)
