This is the cleanest hostel I have stayed in. I loved the layout of the property. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The food was good and affordable. I felt comfortable and safe the entire time. They have a group chat that keeps you updated on events and tours. I learned how to make a margarita, salsa dancing, took a bike tour, and tried out yoga, all for free. I will be returning in the future.
The music gets loud at night and vibrates the whole building. I thought it would be just over the weekend but it's like that every night of the week. If I was there with girlfriends to party and have fun, I wouldn't have cared. I was there to relax, so this was a personal issue and not the hostels fault. They did turn the volume down when a few people complained. So they are respectful of the guests.

An amazing hostel with plenty of events and potential social interactions. They provide a great breakfast side to the swimming pool, which is also the central living area of the hostel. Ideal place for working travelers, with space for dining or work, generally pretty quiet. The bunk bed was comfortable and very quiet (despite the evening disco music party going on).
The bathroom and shower room had a lot of stuff leftover and not properly cleaned. Despite the cost to stay, there are annoying tip boxes in the room asking for tips to the cleaners. Parking on the street is available but could be tricky to find.

Wow, many things! Ok, as a world traveler I’ve lived and and slept in many places… and the Mayan Monkey is top of my list for amount of accommodations, level of service and overall vibe of the property. There’s a kitchen that’s well maintained, fridges for food or ingredients, 2 full cook tops , pots, pans, a dry storage area & clean filtered drinking water provided in mass. That’s just the kitchen. The property was under renovation while I was there, they were updating the paint and working on some finishing touch ups. The area stayed clean and open during the whole time except while the ceilings were being painted maybe a 24 hour closing of the common area. Punctual, efficient, welcoming. The rooms, there’s dorm with 12 bunks and some solo room options as far as I saw. The bunks are super nice. Very I want to say Japanese? Wooden overlay, outlet, night light, high quality privacy curtain, a shelf in the bed area for personal items, locker spaces designated to each bed number with an area for a personal lock. Cleaners come in every day to clean the floors toilets and showers, again very welcoming staff. The Bar, I was hesitant at first to hang out in the bar area but boy did that change once I gave it a chance. They host karaoke nights 2 times a week, beer Olympics once, a team contest, ladies night and 2 for 1 burger night (x2). A lot of shots are offered during the games as well, for singing karaoke, returning the beer pong ball and maybe a few others. This may change but it was my experience. There’s a pool directly connected to the bar, you can sit in it and drink at a poolside bar top! The pool is definitely a chillin pool in my opinion, maybe a meter and a half deep. Next! The sun beds, there’s tons of shaded spots and sunny spots for chilling or laying out.
To the Owners… Que Verguensa - my friends greed kills a light faster than most choices and yours is very apparent in the small details you’ve overlooked. And a profit share of nearly 27%? ->for the all people who actually make you the money… is one way to do business. - however if you don’t compensate fairly the people who keep your whole show running, you will eventually experience a loss in visitation and profits. Don’t switch up in 5 years and you’ll see the consequences of such choices in mass. One can only step on people for so long before they leave or seek to destroy you. Good luck…

Breakfast was great, I'd definitely recommend adding it onto your reservation when you book as it's a cost effective way to start your day & breakfast is a great time to meet fellow travellers. Location was a bit out of town but still walkable. Love the pool area & the DJ's etc & I was in a room far away from this space so I didn't hear it. Beds were best beds I've ever had at a hostel & slept like a rock!
The only thing is one of the receptionists always acted like you were taking up so much of her time by even asking her a question about anything, one of the least friendly hostel staff I've encountered in the world of hostels!

Pedro from the reception was really helpful and nice person. He made us feel really comfortable asking anything. The rest of the staff was nice as well. The hostel is nice, a lot of activities at night and nice yard. The private rooms are generally good. Breakfast has a lot of options.
The noise from the night activities was really loud. We asked for a quiet room but since the private rooms are faced to the yard, you can hear anything and it seems the hostel doesn’t really care for people to go to sleep, for example in the yard you can’t speak without shouting. If you have outdoor plans during day that starts early - I wouldn’t recommend sleeping there. The rooms are generally nice, but our AC has leaked on the shelf, and the shower sprayed all around the bathroom. The breakfast has many options but a lot of things were missing - and you had to pay extra full price for a cappuccino - which was odd considered that you pay a lot for the breakfast.

This hostel was a really pleasant surprise. It is a huge property and feels more like a hotel. It is designed beautifully. I stayed in a dorm with 12 beds which sounds a lot but it was designed so well with 2 runs of 6 beds, extremely comfortable and large spaces for each bed. The separation of the two sections due to the design of the large room means it only feels like you are in a 6 bed dorm. There was free yoga every morning at 8 and 10 which was fantastic and in a beautiful communal area. Kitchen are was adequate with fridges and equipment. This perhaps could be improved. A kettle would be good as would a proper dispenser for the water which is provided free but difficult to negotiate the very large water bottles for refills! The bar area and pool are lovely. I didn't eat there as I was self-catering but there seemed to be an extensive menu. There were also free activities each night e.g. cocktail class with a free drink which was nice. The location is a little out of the way but close to the road to the beach and to Chedraui supermarket and also the Collectivo stop to the beach (the cheapest way to get to the beach from here)
As mentioned the kitchen could be improved with the addition of a kettle and water dispenser.

The place is really amazing and Social Vibe & Activities** – The hostel’s energy is infectious! With nightly parties, yoga classes (6 days a week), and group chats to keep everyone updated on events, it’s impossible not to make friends. The poolside bar and communal spaces are ideal for mingling
Mayan Monkey Tulum is amazing—great vibe, comfy beds, and perfect location. The staff is friendly, and the bikes + daily activities make it a top pick. My only complaint? The $3-5 ‘cleaning fee’ feels unnecessary (and adds up over priced food and drink bar Manu). But overall, still one of the best hostels in Tulum!

Door shock absorber was broken, the maintenance guy come see it but it was not a problem, but when people lets the door close, it was as if he was slamming it. No toilet paper at the morning. Outdoor toilet door not locking and the other hard to close + Toilet paper inaccessible in the other one. The Chichen Itza tour was not the price announced at first (32US), I did't check the paper correctly because I was last minute, in the bus the additional charge was +60US + some fees at the Cenote) The tour was maybe to adapted to the clients of this hotel ? I feel obliged to spend money at the stores we visits

The structure is amazing! It doesn’t even look like a hostel. From the common areas to the bedrooms, it’s very impressive. They have activities during the whole day, which helps to connect. I also love the fact that they have a bar, a pool, a space for resting and a coworking area. The place is very spacious. The staff was really nice and there are places to eat nearby. Also, the included breakfast is great, with a lot of options.
The water from the showers is a bit salty, so I suppose it comes from the beach. Although the hostel is located in a nice place, it’s neither close to downtown nor the hotel zone. So in order to get to other places, you need to either rent a bike/motorcycle or get a taxi, which is kinda expensive

Everything looks soo good and aesthetic. The rooms are nice and clean with private bathroom just for the people you share the rooms with. Even though you share a room you have your own little closable cabin kinda so it's still as if I had my own place almost. The communal areas were also stunning. There is a very calm and peaceful vibe inside the hostel and a more party/connecting vibe in the public area where you find a nice pool and bar. The staff was very friendly and even remembered my name and helped me wherever they could. Spoke proper english as well!
