We were here 2 years ago and had a great time, so booked this place again but with slight hesitation as we were not sure if the service and our experience would be as good as last time but we needn't had worried as the staff knocked it out of the park again as the service was excellent and we left the hotel just as happy as last time. From the time we got there nothing was too much for the staff. The head chef introduced himself on the first day and asked us if we would like freshly made baby food for our 8 month old baby and for the 4 days we stayed there we received fresh baby food 3 times a day for him. Special mention to the children's coordinator Senuri, who was great with our 6 year old boy. She organised activities for kids each day and put them at ease. The Christmas eve buffet was phenomenal and well planned and organised. Special mention to our waiter on that evening, Charith, who although was a trainee had great communication skills and made our evening enjoyable. Apart from the staff, the amenities in this hotel are excellent and well looked after; especially the Pool, the gym and the various bars in possesses. If you are looking for a family friendly hotel where you can relax and have great food then look no further as this hotel is second to none!

Not a huge issue and I know this was the busiest time of the year but the rooms do need a deep clean as the hotel is surrounded by nature. We found deal flies and dust behind the curtains that should have been cleaned by the staff before we checked in.

We had the pleasure of staying one night at DoubleTree by Hilton, Weerawila, to celebrate our wedding anniversary and my wife's birthday. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, and the special decorations on the bed made us feel truly celebrated. A complimentary anniversary cake was provided — it was not only a lovely gesture but also absolutely delicious! The hospitality was outstanding, with all the staff being incredibly friendly and attentive. The food and beverage selection was impressive, offering a wide variety of tasty options for every palate. The hotel boasts a large, beautiful pool where our baby had a fantastic time splashing around. The kids' park was another bonus, making it a perfect family-friendly getaway. All the amenities inside the room and around the hotel were excellent and well-maintained. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are grateful for the memorable experience. Highly recommended for couples and families looking for a relaxing and joyful escape!

I booked this hotel as it was between Yala and Udawalaway national park as I initially planned to visit both. I also wanted a resort as there isn’t as much to do in the safari area other than safari and also the start of my Sri Lanka trip was very jam packed and we wanted to relax. I booked full board and the garden room. Which was amazing. The hotel exceeded my expectations. It was beautiful and the food at each meal was really good. I’m also glad I booked the garden room as we could literally walk out through the back door and the pool was literally just there. The facilities were really good and the staff were amazing. I would highly recommend the this hotel.

An amazing hotel surrounded by beautiful nature, filled with the sounds of birdsong and the peaceful melodies of the environment. The food was absolutely delicious. I had a full board package, and my favorite dish was the Sri Lankan prawn curry at the Turnstone restaurant. The service was incredibly friendly, and I felt well taken care of throughout my stay. A special mention to Harsha at the main restaurant, who took excellent care of my drinks and was always warm and welcoming. I also tried the Indian head massage at the hotel spa, which was deeply relaxing. The therapist asked how I was feeling and ensured the pressure was to my liking, making the experience even more enjoyable. The hotel has a large swimming pool set in the heart of nature, perfect for daytime relaxation. Throughout the day, I only saw about 10 people there, which made it feel peaceful and exclusive. I especially enjoyed sipping fresh coconut water by the pool – a truly refreshing experience. The room was very spacious and had everything I needed, including a minibar, coffee, and tea-making facilities. I thoroughly enjoyed my short stay at this hotel and would confidently recommend it to my friends. I will definitely return.

We had a wonderful experience at this hotel from check-in to check-out. The atmosphere was remarkable, immediately making us feel relaxed upon our arrival. The hotel's architecture was stunning, and the well-maintained swimming pool offered breathtaking views. The staff was incredibly attentive, quickly addressing all our requests with a smile. To top it all off, the dinner buffet was exceptional, featuring a fantastic selection of delicious dishes. We couldn't have asked for a better stay and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a memorable getaway!

The only downside was that the hotel wasn’t closer to our home—we would have loved to stay here more often!

Do not book yala safari from the property It was absolutely waste of money and worst experience. They charged us higher priced and took us from gate 1&2 where we could barely spot animals. Instead we realised after speaking to few locals it’s best to book from outside vendors for yala safari and ask for gate 4&5 tour to see leopards, elephants and have a sea walk.

The property is amazing! One of the nicest hotels we’ve stayed at. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The buffet dinner and breakfasts were good too. The gym is reasonably well equipped and we enjoyed our treatments at the spa too.

We don’t know if we just got a bit unlucky or if this happens every day, however when the sun sets there are literally hundreds of thousands (no exaggeration) of insects that flew into every open communal space imaginable. It was so bad that we went to bed early and didn’t go to the bar for a drink. The picture with this review is one small corner and doesn’t show the full scale of how many insects there were. The spa was great but the prices in the menu don’t include tax and we can’t recall seeing that caveat on the menu so what felt like a reasonable price for a treatment became very expensive!

Loved our short stay at Doubletree. The rooms are spacious and the property as a whole was very clean and well maintained. Meals were good but the restaurant staff deserve a special mention - especially Harsha - as he went above and beyond to take care of our family. The pool is a highlight - absolutely huge with an excellent shallow area on one side and swim up pool on the other. Pool staff were very attentive and friendly. Slightly further from the Yala Block 1 and Block 5 entrances but not a dealbreaker. Property as a whole is very luxurious and upscale. Would stay again!

A great hotel in an excellent location, about 40 minutes’ drive from Yala National Park. The surroundings are incredibly picturesque, with the hotel situated right by a vast lake, adding to its charm. The restaurant impressed us with both its ambiance and the quality of the food—meals were delicious and well-prepared. The hotel offered plenty of activities, and the staff was friendly and attentive, making our stay even more enjoyable. The value for money is excellent, making this hotel a great choice for anyone visiting the area.

Nothing we can think of

Our stay in Yala was one of the best days of our lives. The hotel location in the middle of the nature makes this place magic. Facilities are luxurious and brand new. Huge room, supercomfy bed. It was calm, perfect to chill with your couple. We were in the swimming pool and spa and it felt like it was just the 2 of us. Compared to 5-stars hotels in europe, the quality-price of this place was insanely good.

I didnt like to get an extra charge in terms of taxes and fees out of the price shown in my booking. I think its unnecessary and not nice. In my case I just noticed it in the check-in.
