The staff were all really helpful and supportive. Shout out to Frank, Marco, and Johanes, especially with the kids. The facilities and the food (breakfast and dinner) were top. Checkin and checkout were smooth and easy. Family friendly and quality services.

We chose this hotel mainly for the private pool villa, which we paid extra for. However, the monkeys made the pool experience frustrating. You need to keep the wooden door locked, as they would enter the villa and take any food left out by the pool. I recommend the hotel take measures to address this issue.

The beach is not good for swimming. It doesn’t really matter as there’s a huge pool and private pools in each room, but if you were planning or hoping to swim in the sea you’d likely be a bit disappointed.

the unbeatable position and the spectacular sunsets, in a garden that seems a continuation of the jungle. the people, which have all made the difference . rarely met so many great and smiling individuals. if you can, pick beach villas and ask for 105 to 100: best sunset and quiet..

the accommodation is overpriced for the standards of a 5 star resort. the structure is showing the signs of age, with noisy AC , sometimes no hot water (repaired immediately) very bad internet, broken phones, mud on the seal of the shower glass . the premium villas have an open bathroom overlooking the beach meaning everyone passing by can see inside.. not a big buffet fan, but the set meal option didn’t convince

The restaurant area is lovely but a little tired and could do with a little refresh.

Fantastic location with brilliant villas and individual pool and seclusion. Bikes were fun. Birds and monkeys great to watch. Very good food.

The flooring round pool is lifting and could do with renewing. The Dhow, Mrs Residence was beautiful and clean and really impressive. The motor launch Mr Residence is really shabby with cracked seats and a feeling of being poorly maintained, which for a five star resort and paying a lot of dollars to go out on the boat feels a bit of a shame. Any clothing put down got brown stains on it. The skipper and crew were brilliant…. On both trips. Any gripe is a bit picky but being charged $5 for water in the restaurant seems a bit tight given the amount being charged for the other drinks.

The Residence was AMAAZZZING. From the rooms that each have a private pool to the staff who were EXTRA friendly. We enjoyed riding the bikes around the property. The food was good and Runi served us tasty cocktails at the beach bar. We visited for my Fiancé’s birthday and on his birthday they decorated the bed and gave us a complimentary cake with a sparkler and all. Shout out to Emmanuel and Yunsi* for the decorations. We also visited the spa and had a relaxing massage and they were able to accommodate us last minute. We also enjoyed riding the jet skis on the water. In the afternoons, they offer complimentary ice cream which was something we looked forward to daily. We also had some issues with our flight and the guys at the reception were gracious enough to lend us their phone to try and sort things out. Honestly this resort is worth every penny and we can’t wait to get back.

Villas are spacious and very clean. Toilets are big. They do room service twice a day. They provide bicycles to commute within the resort. So calm and perfect for relaxation. Highly recommended

The beach wasnt good for swimming because of all the sea weed. They keep removing it but it keeps accumulating. There is a good variety of food but they could work more on the taste of food although it’s not bad at all.

It was my birthday and I was surprised with a cake and staff sang for me including the live band during dinner.Very thoughtful and nice of them. By the time I retired to my room,another surprise was waiting. They made up the bedroom beautifully with flowers and candles and wrote a happy birthday with my name. The manager Rakeesh ( I hope I spelt his name correctly) was also very nice and arranged some entertainment at The Pavilion Restaurant . Upon checkout,we had missed breakfast and Benjamin was kind enough to offer us pizza. Thank you to all the staff at The Residence. You made my stay beautiful. Also the privacy of having your own pool was really nice.

From the time we stepped into the property, we knew we were in the perfect place. Calm, peaceful with the sound of birds to greet you as soon as you walk into the reception. The staff are absolutely out of this world- their kindness was remarkable. I find it hard to mention all the names here, as each and every single member of staff was exceptionally warm and helpful- to find this is extremely rare. Benjamin helped us out in literally almost everything- including arranging for some medication and testaments for our baby girl. Nitin, the bar manager helped arrange a custom baby chair for her as well and checked on us everyday. The general manager himself lent us the baby chair from his house- it was a truly heartwarming gesture.The property itself is green, lush, luxurious and absolutely opulent. Going for bike rides was something we looked forward to as the beautiful Zanzibar breeze lifted us away into a magical world of nature and its bliss. The backyard pool only steps away from the sea was something we absolutely loved as well. Now coming to the food- the food was magnificent and the service in both restaurants more than perfect. Service with a smile all the way! We looked forward to the meals while we walked down or biked down to the restaurant- anticipating what would be on offer that day :) Grill station was OMG ! The dinner entertainment was also carefully selected- not too loud, just right and very very enjoyable! We will miss this stay for a long long time, no matter where we go, there was something uniquely beautiful about the place.

That they were sold out for the rest of our time in Zanzibar- and we couldn’t stay longer. This is just a small suggestion- please switch to paper take away boxes unless you reuse the plastic ones. And for the coconut trees just above the pool- do remove the coconuts from time to time to avoid accidents.

The residence is a paradise on earth. The residence consists of different classes of villas. The villas contains all the comfort you need for an enjoyable and relaxing stay. The staff are very nice and very very welcoming. They are also very supportive and helpful. The residence has two restaurants and a bar on the beach. There is an activity club inside the residence where you can arrange some excursions and activities in Zanzibar.

The only lowlight i can mention about the residence is the food. Unfortunately, the restaurant(mainly the meal included in the package) doesn’t offer a large variety that suits to everyone. The diner included in the package is a set menu that includes an amuse bouche, a starter, a main course and a dessert. Usually the choices are limited to 2 options for the main course which sometimes doesn’t suit to all the people (like the Indian menu). The food is not bad but it really needs to be improved especially in terms of variety.
