The best thing in this property was breakfast! Really amazing service and great food. Rooms were also nice and clean.

I didn’t like the fact that they wanted to charge us more. And also booking showed in the beginning the price of 76euros + 6euros taxes. Then on the last page price was already 81euros +6€ taxes. And in the end when we went to the property they charged us 12euros for taxes, and in total they were asking 108euros! We had to fight to not be charged so much. So eventually we paid 92usd total.

I liked actually everything during our stay. We unfortunately did not enjoy the beach as the weather was acting when we were there and it was raining a lot. We were 2 people and had 3 bed room (late booking). Room itself was nice, clean with clean mosquitiere. The staff took care of mosquitos twice a day (sprayed the room) but in this period of the year they were not a problem generally Pool was clean and well taken care of. Breakfast was the same every day, but it was nice - fruit plate, toast, eggs 3 types and 3 sides. Fresh juice which I loved. Placed directly on the beach, lovely views. Helpful polite staff. Great evening restaurant with tasty food. Beach is known by huge low tide but I did not mind. I liked and also joined locals in the morning during the low tide and learnt about farming of seaweed. Would I come back to the resort? Yes. It is quite place great to relax. A few other resorts near by if one want to try different restaurant. Paje is like 8 minutes with tuktuk (10 000tzn which I learnt later was double of normal price for locals but still cheap) I like Paje, it is a lot of life there in the evening. Bwejuu is a good starting point for Jozani trips, Jambiani, Mtendu, not very far. The famous Rock restaurant is like 10 minutes driving from there. We had a car si for us was this place a great relaxing point after day trips. Not many tourists and more of first hand local experience

Acloset for clothes would be nice. And something to dry wet swimming costumes, towels

We had a fabulous stay at Mayai. The resort was beautiful, right by a calm and serene beach, the staff were super kind and friendly, facilities were great and food was delicious. We loved hanging at the restaurant and looking out into the beach. Would recommend 10/10 to anyone visiting Zanzibar. Special mention to the owner Mr Tord and our guide Mr Seif who made the trip extra special for us. I cannot be thankful enough to Mr Tord for his thoughtful recommendations, for preparing the staff ahead of our trip, and helping me curate the tours suited to my child. Mr Seif took us around, made sure we experienced the local culture and food, and he personally took us snorkeling as my daughter and I cannot swim. It was my daughter’s first snorkeling experience and I’m grateful to him for swimming with us and ensuring our safety. He speaks excellent English so communication was very easy, do ask for him when you’re in Zanzibar. Overall a wonderful trip and we’ll definitely be going back!

This place is perfectly located. It is in a quality location and, up to Tiki beach, you are far away from the annoying beach vendors, boys from killimanjaro trying to make a living selling trinkets to the tourists along the coast at Paje. Great Pool Great Consierge service

There's nothing to dislike about Mayai. There's a warning to some that the restaurant area is open. It is called Ocean Breeze Restaurant, after all.

The resort was amazing with great breakfast and amazing staff. Everyone made my stay so wonderful and it was close to Paje without being right in the action so you could enjoy a peaceful beach experience. The internet was so fast which was necessary as I was working during my stay. The staff was just incredible and kudos to the whole team.

I liked everything.

New resort with super nice employees and a lot of attention to different details like handcrafted sustainable furniture, comfortable beds etc. Easily one of the best places to stay around the southern beaches. Healthy breakfast and a good restaurant for lunch and dinner. They had no problems catering for quests with food allergies. Quiet neighborhood, perfect for relaxation.

Standard rooms are not that spacious, but you didn't come to Zanzibar to stay indoors :)

We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay at Mayai Ocean Resort. We stayed in one of the junior suite rooms which had an outlook onto the beach and was very spacious and comfortable. The location was excellent with access direct onto the wonderful beach which stretches for miles in either direction, and with save bathing. All of the staff with friendly and helpful, and the there was enough variety in the restaurant menu to keep us interested for 10 days. The quality of the food at both breakfast and dinner was excellent. The Mayai Ocean Resort is the perfect location for some chilled out time under the African sun. We hope to return one day.

It is a new Resort, the welcoming was excellent by the receptionists, as soon as we walked in we felt how warm the place was and how ready the staff is to please you with everything you might need. Bartenders, waitresses, securities, housekeeping, even the chef wanted to make sure we were good taken care. The design of everything, rooms are impecable and beautiful, good taste. Perfect location, views, food and drinks. Do not even hesitate to book this hotel. I am not a person that writes reviews. But I had to do it for this one. This is basically a message to the owner more than a review. Please do not change anything. Working in the industry I can feel there is a great work behind. Hats off and congratulations!

The stuff, room, ambience was good

I didn’t like location and it was too quit, boring for me, probably for hunny moon it’s good

Wonderful staff, beautiful hotel. We really liked the location being sufficiently far away from Paje to escape the busier area but at the same time it was only a 2.5km walk to reach the many stores/ restaurants etc. Breaktfast and Food in the restaurant was delicious and the rooms (had a standard double room) are all equipped with mosquito nets and come with a very handy balcony. Definitely a 100% recommendation.

Only minor points that we would like to mention which could be improved to make the hotel even better: a coffee/ tea making facility in the room would be great and we would have liked the music to be a bit more quiet during the day. As we were frequently using the sunbeds on the beach directly behind the restaurant we would have preferred to also hear the sound of the ocean (and rather local music instead) . But again - minor points only.
