Cannot recommend this hotel enough! Honestly I came away for a weekend on my own ( with two dogs ) and was going to go home on Sunday, I stayed till Wednesday. From start to finish the staff, was amazing and nothing was too much trouble. It’s reasonably priced, there is a communal fridge, microwave and toaster, plenty of tea coffee, toilet rolls, available, the location is brilliant for shops, tescos pets at home etc, free parking across the road, that I never once struggled to park! Lynda, Ruth and all the staff was amazing, even all the locals was all so friendly. And made my first solo trip a very pleasurable one. Thank you Stacey Gracie and Reggie 🐾🐾

We had a lovely pleasant stay for 3 nights. Rooms upstairs below the pub which was a advantage as when I wanted a quiet night upstairs, I knew my partner was fine in the bar below. Also our pug came along for his first holiday. Very clean and tidy and reasonably priced. We had a comfortable stay, I also liked that everything was to hand eg tea bags, milk and toilet rolls means you don’t have to bother staff. Would definitely return when in the area again.

Only one thing I would say is we needed more pillows not just one each.

Cosy pub with rooms. No loud music despite being bank holiday weekend. On street parking directly outside - no restrictions for Sat eve or Sun. Great location with large retail park just a few minutes' walk for shopping and just about every fast food brand.

Lock on the door to my room was a bit dodgy. Had to fiddle with it for a minute or two before I could get in.

Very clean, friendly staff, very comfortable and we felt at ease. My family and I felt more safer there than where we leave to be honest. Never heard anyone shouts or swearing. People were all well-mannered.

Just that the hotel is quite old but because of what I’ve mentioned above, it coated this negative feedback.

Excellent breakfast. All the staff were very friendly and made us and our pooch feel really welcome, Archie loved the attention from the reception and cleaning staff. Massive choice of beers and much cheaper than at home. We would definitely use the Ambrose again if we were in the area.

Very clean, comfortable bed, plenty of tea/coffee supplies and reserves of same. Fridge, microwave etc in hall to use if required. Car parking.

Sat nav too me to the wrong g end of Duke Street despite using post code, so would advise use of building number in addition to post code on sat nav.

We had been in Keswick and then travelled to the South Lakes Zoo. Afterwards, we decided that instead of driving back to scotland we would stay another night away. Being in Barrow-in-Furness, we chose the Ambrose. Very good location to the shops and food. There was a communal fridge in the hall, which meant we could buy and keep our drinks cold, definitely a wee bonus for the warm nights into mornings! The room was clean and comfortable, very good value.

Only stayed one night, so everything was as expected

The staff were very friendly, the room was very big and so was the bathroom. We were close to where we needed to be. You could not hear noise from the pub, also there was a rugby match on and you couldn't really hear thatl either.

Have stayed at the Ambrose on a number of occasions. Suits me for my needs. Its rooms above a pub, but they are quiet and allow you to get a decent nights sleep. Although it doesn't serve breakfast plates, cutlery and microwave are provided.
