Stuff were friendly, room was very comfortable with comfy bed, the sofa bed was big enough to cater an adult, complimentary breakfast was also very good, overall a very nice and comfortable stay. All places in lake district were 1 to 1.5 hrs drive which we like it as we got to view the sceneries. Parking fee was nominal with 2.5 pounds per day which is just 2 mins walk to the hotel. We also had dunner at the hotel and price was quite nominal, they also offered us free drinks as one of the menu item was not available and replaced the same with a costlier item with a refund which was a very good gesture. If you want to visit Lake District and have a car, then this place is the best one for a budget friendly trip during school holidays where rest of the hotels are charging a fortune. There are plenty of eateries around this hotel if you do not want to eat at the hotel. Highly recommended. You also get free fruits which you can pick anytime from the fruit bar with free water 😊

Everything was very good.

Excellent hotel, stayed here for three nights. Much more than what you’d expect in a chain hotel - people make all the difference. Responsive, alert, cheerful people all across the ranks at the hotel. The breakfast spread is quite reasonable as well, enough to have a pleasant start and get going for your day. They had a handful of choices of cereals, yoghurt, fruit compote, fruit juices, bread, toaster, muffins, croissants, sausages, vegan sausages (on request), scrambled egg, baked beans, hash browns, and bacon put out In reasonable quantities for breakfast, and an excellent hot drinks machine. The breakfast space is well-lit, well organised and pleasant. They have a microwave in the reception to warm up any food if you needed at any time of the day. The vibe in the restaurant was a happy one, even right into the middle of the night. There is good parking available at the overflow car park (Atkinson car park) just down the road from the hotel. The hotel is situated ten minutes walking distance from the centre of the town, which has nearly all the high street shops. There are three supermarkets within minutes. In spite of the location, all the spaces around the hotel were quite tranquil. The hotel also provided good connectivity to other parts of Lake District - it took us just over an hour to reach the Windermere lake and twenty minutes to Roa island, for example. The free Wi-Fi was quite good too.

Would have loved the hotel to have a gym and a swimming pool. We went to the Barrow Leisure Park that is half an hour away instead. The fact that the leisure park has very specific times and opened only in the afternoon made organising things quite awkward.

My partner and I rode our motorcycle from Gloucester to Barrow in Furness as part of The Hairy Biker's Dave Day tribute(PART 2). The Hotel is situated in the middle of the Town Centre overlooking the main square and Town Hall. It was ideal for all that we needed. There was ample safe parking in the front for about 10 cycles and about 20 at the rear with over weekend extra parking next door. The staff were warm, friendly very helpful. The rooms were spotless and cleaned thoroughly every morning. The breakfast was full English, cooked to perfection, or continental and as much as you could eat. The lounge area was light and airy with a full screen t.v. with subtitles. Doubled as a bar in the evening. Can I take this opportunity to thank everyone at the Hotel who made our flying visit memorable and enjoyable, will absolutely recommend it to anyone thinking of staying in Barrow.

Breakfast was good for people that eat meat Nice stay overall Meals -half price offers were more reasonable for what you get. Nice pizza Big tip- You need to put origami on your pizzas for a perfect 10 taste, or offer mini sachets for people to add on for personal taste. Good leaflets of what is available around area within walking distance. Fairly good location though would be even better if you had a hotel overlooking one of the lakes or the sea Good stay overall, though :)

Despite informing in advance we had 2 vegetarians the vegetarian sausages ran out for 2 out of 3 days stay, so quite disappointing for vegetarians in the family. Rooms were a bit small for family, with double and single couch open felt very crammed to move around. Meals were very expensive, though the half price offers were more reasonable for what you get. Meals should be half price for guests ideally. Big tip- You need to put origami on your pizzas and small sprinkle of finely chopped green chillies for a perfect 10 taste, or offer mini sachets of origami/chilli flakes for people to add on for personal taste. Complementary hot chocolate sachets for young people would be nice. We had 3 people staying but only 2 cups in the room. Mini Fridge in room would be very useful.

The breakfast was great although there was a long wait for some of the breakfast items to come out but they were particularly busy on that weekend.

There needs to be greater focus or reminders about the payment required for the car park as I got home to a letter charging me £100 for dropping my passenger off in the car park even though I was only there 12 minutes. I did stay as a guest and wasn't reminded to include my details. it was raining significantly so I was concentrating on my partner who was unwell and also not getting too wet!

Holiday Inn Express - Burrow in Furness is a modern hotel and has all your basic needs. The rooms are modern, clean and the hot breakfast is great. The guest free fruit and water at reception is also a welcome gesture.

The negative is the staff at reception. They can be a bit arrogant, particularly, the caucasian lady with the dyed purple hair. She berated my wife during the checking in process. The restaurant is nice with a broad menu but, frustratingly, at 6.30pm on a Friday most items were not available as they had run out of ingredients including rice (I would have thought they could run someone down to Tesco 5 minutes away). Because of this we ordered takeaway from a joint elsewhere. By the time we got back, the tables were empty but told we couldn't use their tables. Some flexible discretion would be good especially with two 84 year olds involved.

Location is very central, for transport, local shops, cafes and entertainment. Breakfast is lovely, hot, and various cereals, toast and everything you'd expect to set yr day. Staff are helpful, pleasant, and nothing too much trouble. Busy at times with coach parties, but didn't disrupt the ongoing day. Good selection of beers/spirits and was pleasant to sit in the seating area, and of course TV showing how our GB teams were getting on(Olympics) Housekeeping were brilliant and room always tidy, and replenishment of tea/coffee/milk. Holiday inn should be pleased that it chose barrow-in-furness for its location. My first stay here was a year ago and nothing had changed .. except the weather.

The rooms were clean and modern. We had an issue with our room with a smell concern and a non functioning fan in the bathroom, but the staff were quick to resolve this and put us in a new room. Also, any request to the staff was no issue and were always helpful even when I came down and asked them to fill 3 bottles with water. The inclusive breakfast was perfect, and we had everything you could need to get your day going. They even offered takeout bags so you could take your breakie on the go. I was unsure if you could take the hot food out, but it was perfect for the pastries and toast. You could even make your coffee/brew in takeout cup, which was perfect to take on the go

Both rooms we were put in were facing the main road. Luckily there was not much on in the town during our stay so the traffic sound was not bad but given we had a young child with us would have expected being placed in a room facing inwards and not out facing the main road. Also, the second room we were moved into was directly next to the entrance to the floor, and meant we could hear everything coming in and going out and their conversations as well as the door bangs as it shuts behind them.

The staff we're amazing, so polite and couldnt do enough for you. The place was spotless and the staff we're constantly busy trying to keep it that way. The room was a good size, the aircon worked, the bathroom and bedroom were spotless (well done housekeeping) everything was pleasant. We went down for breakfast around 9:30 and a few things had run out as it was quite busy, however the staff we're all over it trying to restock breakfast items and cutlery. Withing just a few minutes everything was in full swing again. It was quite impressive to watch. So well done team!! The sofa bed wasnt terrible either, my daughter had a great night stay there. Ths Holiday inn in wakefield J40 however, you could literally see the springs of the sofa bed through the material. It was terrible. Extremely poor. Room 132 if anyone wants to know. An absolute night and day contrast compared to our disaster stay at Holiday Inn Wakefield J40. Wakefields site was terrible and an embarrassment to stay in. The staff had ZERO interest in working or helping guests, food was genuinely disgusting and the place dirty. Soooo glad Barrow in Furness is nothing like Wakefield. Goes to show theyre not all operated the same and therefor the pitfalls and lack of control from senior management. Surely as a brand you'd want everything to be the same high standard across the board. These senior managers need to get a grip. But anyway, Barrow was a delight and Im so happy I stayed there. Will definitely return and use Barrow Holiday Inn again. Thankyou Ladies and Gents for all your hard work and commitment to your guests. It shows!!! Be proud of yourselves and keep up ths good work! I highly recommend Barrow In Furness

Beds could be better, however we made do. Car park is too small and if youre not early enough you then have to pay for parking across the street. I understand this to be a small amount however still not ideal. Disabled parking really isnt great to rely on 2 spaces in your iw Car park and then its out to public disbaled bays. But...... not alot you can do with the infrastructure. However there is a derelict builidng to the rear of the building (used to be a cheap furniture place). This could always be purchased and levelled to a nice car park for your guests. Just an idea.

We arrived for "Dave Day" and were made a fuss of. Very friendly social and informative staff on arrival made us feel welcome. The hotel's location was fantastic just over the road from town hall where events were taking place. A bar / resteraunt in lounge area with comfy seats and a terrace outside. Although no onsite parking, a carpark was just a walk away and free to use as hotel guests. Free WiFi was also appreciated. Room was nice and clean and had lots of facilities - ensuite, good TV, and electric sockets with usb to charge devices. Leaving us with a gift in our room for "Dave Day" was a lovely gesture and surprise when we returned to the room after our day, we both felt it was very thoughtful and kind. Will definitely stay again when next in Barrow.

Room appeared tidy and clean, however a lot of dust in the air during the night induced my asthma. Sorry to say the bed wasn't that comfortable either. Room was very hot during first night but we opened window. We worked out the thermostat on our second night finding a handy info card with instructions which made the room cooler. Room was on the small side especially with sofa bed out made it difficult to manoeuvre around but we coped ok. Breakfast was self serve with lots of choice disappointed that it lacked continental variety croissant only no cheese, fresh tomatoes or meat slices.
