Our second stay at the Moorland, and we had returned for a celebration. We were not disappointed. Our room was clean and well appointed. Liked the desk in the window, from which to appreciate the fantastic view. We chose to eat in the restaurant on both evenings, and the food was very good, and reasonably priced. We found the atmosphere was relaxed, and the staff hospitable. Little touches to help make our visit special were particularly appreciated. Some lovely places to walk on the doorstep or a short drive away

Nothing major. The the plug mechanism in our sink didn’t seem to work as well as it should.

The location is absolutely amazing! Near the national park, surrounded by animals and nature. The people who work there were exceptionally kind. From the lady who cleans to the receptionist and restaurant staff. Everyday I was greeted with a smile and pure kindness. The beds were comfortable and we had a balcony looking over the nature, city and the sea. The roads behind the hotel are gorgeous! We have had a Sunday Roast in the restaurant. It was great and the service was great aswell. The location is quiet and peaceful.

Just a heads up, these were minor things. I wish that we had a fridge in the room and seeming its a very old building, it can get very loud in the morning. Someone was doing something with the chairs and tables i suppose, on the patio at 8 in the morning and it was incredibly disturbing. So bring your earplugs and you’ll be fine because the location overall is perfect!

The location is a little remote, which suited me as I had a car to explore the area,. My room had a great view of the moors from the bed, as well as the large window in the huge bathroom! Very picturesque, with sheep, ponies and sunsets! The guys running the hotel do a fabulous job, and run a very tight ship. At times, they could use extra staff, but if you are patient, it all works very well. The roast meals are huge and great value. If you're there on a Sunday evening, you get a cheap show by joining in with the local folk singers! Great entertainment!!

Nothing to dislike here. It's on old building that seems to be finding a new life. Great atmosphere!

We asked for a room with a view and we got one! Rooms are a decent size as is the bathroom and we had a little balcony overlooking the moors and Plymouth Sound beyond. Complete with Tea and Coffee making facilities. Bed was comfy, very peaceful. Attentive service at reception and in dining room. Dinner was very nice, good selection, cooked to order so takes a little time, breakfast excellent and no waiting as you pre-order the evening before. Definitely good value for money. All round a very pleasant stay and would happily stay again.

Public toilets downstairs, need a little more attention at busy times.

The Moorland Hotel certainly doesn't feel like a standard chain hotel. Although the building is somewhat uninspiring from outside the service & outstanding hospitality we received was second to none! The first thing that struck us was the amazing location on the edge of Dartmoor with superb views across the Moor & out to sea. We received a warm welcome & our room was huge, clean, warm & very comfortable. Furnishings maybe considered a little 'tired' but perfectly acceptable & more than adequate considering the reasonable price we paid to stay. The food & drinks are also very reasonably priced & the masala chai on the cuurry night menu is the best I've ever tasted! Breakfast was freshly cooked & delicious. Our overnight stay was supremely relaxing & we would definitely like to return. Thankyou to all the team at Wooter.

Idyllic moorland location that offers stunning views of Plymouth Sound and the Cornish coast. The hosts were warm and friendly from the moment we walked through the door and work tirelessly to ensure that their guests have a memorable stay. Fabulous food with both the evening and breakfast menu offering a good choice of well-presented delicious dishes. The restaurant is perfectly situated at the rear of the hotel allowing guests to take in the tranquil moorland setting whilst enjoying the excellent food and welcoming ambiance.

The building itself would benefit from a brush of paint here and there, but everything else that the Moorland Hotel offers more than makes up for this. The hosts, location & food are all superb.

Right from the start we were made to feel welcome, nice quirky place excellently located on the edge of the moors offered great views and a good area to explore,. we went a little ways up the hill and sat on some rocks and enjoyed a fantastic sunset. Room was clean and well presented and staff especially Sudeep were extra attentive without being intrusive and were genuinely lovely people. Couldn't do enough for you. Breakfasts well presented and individually cooked to your order. Make sure you try the Neapalese pork curry if you are lucky to stay incorporating a Wednesday as it is amazing and in the top three currys we have ever had. Well worth the stay and we will be back for sure. Thank you Sudeep and team.

the only bad things were that: We couldnt stay longer as we were having an amazing time. Couldnt have the Traditional Nepalese pork curry for every meal. (I have since learned to cook it though!) Set a standard that will be hard for others to beat in the future.

Such a friendly and warm welcome when I checked in, to be waited on at dinner & breakfast. After the recommendation for the duck, I was not disappointed, it was absolutely incredible, I've not had a dish taste that good in so long! Everything was clean and comfortable.

It is a very old hotel in need of some TLC, decorating is looking tired, the white shower tray was black around the seals, there was grout missing around some tiles and there was a slight musty smell, assuming mould. This would NOT deter me from staying again though!

We stayed for our wedding this weekend, decor a little dated and some peeling wall paper, but it was clean spacious and comfortable. The staff were absolutely incredible, we had a bit of a blip with one of the bookings not being sent through by Groupon, but they were soo helpful and made sure everyone had a room to sleep in. And we're amazing with a very panicked bride (me) when we figured out a booking went missing (not there fault at all) The chef in the morning was fantastic brought out coffee for us in the bar before we sat down for breakfast, and breakfast was absolutely amazing, everyone commented on how the mushrooms stole the show. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, super helpful, friendly and accommodating, offering us a spare space to get ready for my wedding day. You really helped to make our wedding weekend special, thank you all so much.

Nothing staff were amazing.

Beautiful views and natural surroundings. Close proximity to Plymouth, Exeter, truro, Port Isaac and more. Very friendly staff. Rooms with views of the moors. Lovely freshly made food. They dont like waste, so small breakfast, but can ask for more if needed. Locals from 5miles around come for food and drinks..very friendly and relaxing atmosphere. Definitely recommend and we will be returning for sure.

We were ok. But if you have problems climbing up stairs please ask for ground floor rooms if available as our rooms were on the 2nd floor, 2cflights of stairs. Other than that no complaints at all.
