We arrived 2 hours early and although we didn't expect to be able to check in that early (we wanted to know if we could use the parking lot) they were able to accomodate us and let us have our room early and provided the parking hang tag so we could use the lot. Very gracious and accomodating! Comfy bed on the 6th floor - quiet and we slept really well.

Not sure this is a dislike but it felt like someone sat on the side of my bed when I was trying to go to sleep. When I looked back behind me to see if what hubby wanted, he was fast asleep in the other queen bed...Just a little "hmmm?" that made the stay interesting!

Everything was great from the ambiance, the location, bars, food, and service. We enjoyed sitting in the bar or the piano lounge after a long day of walking around Salem. The breakfast was amazing everyday, and the service was amazing. The ambiance made us feel like we were stepping back into the early 1900's. The location is in the center of Salem and easy to get anywhere in the town within a few steps. Would definitely plan another stay at this hotel!

Room was a little small, and the shower was separated from the bathroom, but my parent's rooms were bigger and the shower was connected to the bathroom. But, since the property is so old I understand there is only so much they can do to renovate these old rooms without upsetting the ghosts to much haha. We also only spent limited time in our rooms, so the size did not matter too much, and for the price it was very reasonable. Only critique would be, if you are elderly or in need of a wheelchair, may upgrade to a bigger room, but overall we had the best time!

Room was spacious - had a great corner view - bit of noise from the stairwell on the Saturday night I stayed when a wedding was on though. Staff were generally okay but not the nicest I've ever had. The staff in the bar were extra friendly - enjoyed my dinner here one night. Bathroom had full tub and great water pressure. Location was a bit of walk from train/bus but not too bad - would have been better without a suitcase rattling over the cobbled streets the whole way but that's the charm of this town! Located close to the Salem Witch Museum and near the quad/park.

The aircon/heating unit in the room was very noisy and would kick off randomly startling me from my sleep if it wasn't yet deep enough.

Tiny room for the price but it is high season... Loved the atmosphere in the hotel--very historic and comfy, seasonally decorated, and very inviting gathering places. Loved, too, its GREAT LOCATION... When we got tired and wanted a rest, we were only 5, at the most 10 mins from our lovely hotel.

Hard to get an uninterrupted rest so much occasional noise--daytime construction in a neighboring room, VERY LOUD room door SLAMS, and echoing guest conversations coming through the walls, even after midnight. But, hey, it's a historic hotel so it isn't going to have the soundproofing modern hotels have...

The hotel was very conveniently located. We were able to walk to everything we wanted to do. The building still holds its old charm. We loved all the character.

Really, the place was great. Good price, clean, friendly & attentive staff. If we had to pick one thing, it would just be that our bathroom was tiny making it a challenge for 2 people to get ready. We would just pick a bigger room next time. It wasn’t anything we couldn’t deal with.

We loved everything about the hotel! The location was amazing, the room itself was very clean and had a great vibe (and it always smelled so good every time we walked in). The floor we were on was very quiet and we had a nice view! Our room had 1.5 baths which was super convenient with two people! We also were able to check in a little bit earlier than 4pm. I was so grateful for that because we had taken an overnight flight and were exhausted. I just can't say enough good things about the Hawthorne!

Parking was a bit challenging our first day because of a few events going on. But once we parked for the day it was fine. Everything is so close it wasn't even really an issue.

I loved my stay at the Hawthorne. I was originally booked for 3 nights and I booked a 4th night in another smaller room in the hotel at the last minute and when getting ready to switch rooms the staff let me stay in the room I had been in which was so helpful and so nice. The entire hotel is so beautiful. I ate at both restaurants and food was delicious and staff was great! Location is perfect and there was plenty of parking during my stay. I was there in late May. I will definitely be back.

The mattress was a little firm, I'm use to a plusher mattress. I also had some issues with the soda vending machine on my floor. I could not get it to work.

We had an excellent stay at the Hawthorne. Staff were very nice, very helpful. The room was very nice with SUPER comfy beds. Nice size room. Excellent location in Salem, ten second walk to the popular Essex Street, the pedestrian section with great shops and restaurants. When we were there in November there was free delicious hot cider and/or hot chocolate in the lobby.

Nothing, everything was great.

The hotel is in an ideal location for anyone wanting to be able to walk around town- once we arrived, we didn't have to taxi anywhere until we left! Essex street shopping, the historical sights, and even the Hocus Pocus house were all within walking distance. The rooms were clean and had the character you'd appreciate in a historic hotel without lacking comfort and quality. Lobby was beautiful, restaurants downstairs were delicious and convenient. There aren't a lot of bells and whistles, but if you need somewhere convenient and comfortable to stay for a few days between your adventures in Salem, the Hawthorne is a great choice. We will definitely be returning.

Genuinely don't have any pressing complaints- the only thing that was a little tricky was that the elevators are a little small and there's only one set- but again, it's part of the charm of a historic hotel, in my opinion.

Location is perfect for walking to all the witch related tourist offerings in Salem as well as a good range of bars and restaurants. Staff are super friendly and helpful and the rooms are beautiful. It's an old hotel with loads of charm, rumoured to be haunted but we had no visitations! An added bonus was complimentary hot drinks in the lobby (which is fabulous) all day, freshly prepared by a staff member. Breakfast at Nathaniel's was delicious and good value. Would have no hesitation in staying there again.

Absolutely nothing. It was fantastic.
