The house was so beautiful and clean. Most staff were great and very kind. The location is perfect, super close to the beach and other amenities. There are two medium-sized pools, and it's a very calm and relaxing environment. It seems like it's more of an adult friendly complex because of how quiet it is, but we brought two kids, and they enjoyed their time!

We rented the large house for 3 nights for a family of 7. The ad said it's an air-conditioned home, yet it wasn't. Only the bedrooms had air conditioners, which is great. However, the main entrance, kitchen, dining room, and living room had no air conditioner, which was so hard to make our experience enjoyable. We cooked, hung out, and ate in 36C heat, and it was almost unbearable. We requested some portable fans, and they gave us 2 extra ones, and it helped, but it wasn't enough. For the price we paid for 3 nights, you would expect to have an actual air-conditioned home in Guanacaste to go cool down after being at the beach...

We loved staying here! It's in a quiet and natural setting with beautiful greenery throughout the property. It's a relaxing retreat as it is secluded in a wonderful way. The sound of birds and the soft music in the restaurant area gave a tranquil experience. The food was very good. All the staff are warm and friendly, from the reception area to the restaurant to housekeeping and landscaping. They all keep the rooms, grounds and pools immaculate. They all give excellent and prompt service at all times, especially Roger and Griselda. We look forward to staying here again!

Can't think of one thing we didn't like!

Can’t fault this place. It’s very family orientated. If you have WhatsApp it’s really easy to communicate with the hotel. You ask for anything and they are there within a flash. I know it’s not everyone’s forte but we were really appreciative of the fact that you can’t bring animals or smoke on the complex as I have very bad allergies. You all have your own table and chairs to sit out the front around the pool. You can even take your own food and drink on site and treat your room as your home. There is a gated entrance and you need a key fob to get in. It is extremely safe. If you like your Snorkling and scuba diving the office is literally a 5 minute walk, 2 minute drive or they collect you. The prices for these activities were reasonable. We say hump back wales swimming in the harbour too. It was such a good location.

Breakfast was basic but you can just make your own. Too many ornaments in the room so little space to put your things.

Wonderful location. The different areas are beautifully decorated and well kept. The breakfast is great too. The rooms are large and comfortable. Beds are comfy. The reception staff was always helpful and gave us all the information we needed. I fully recommend this place!

Some minor details that wouldn't keep me from booking this hotel again, as they are easily fixed: 1. The showerhead could be improved. 2. The bathroom mirror light did not work. Shower was very dark, even with the lights on. 3. We had some trouble closing the bathroom door.

Our stay with Casas del Toro was fantastic. Due to weather issues and airport closures were uncespectedly stuck in Costa Rica for 3 more nights than we planned. Casas del Toro was incredibly accomodating, allowing us to extend our stay and providing significant kindness at a very stressful time. The property is gated which made it feel very safe. It is a beautiful, well maintained property. We enjoyed listening to the birds and looking at the many orchids. The room was large, clean, comfortable with everything we needed. The air conditioner worked great to keep us cool. The location was minutes away from the beach and a grocery store. We drove to Potrero, Tamarindo, Brasilito and Las Catalinas with ease from the location. We were only able to enjoy the pool once due to the weather but it was lovely.

Would have loved to visit for the season when the restaurant is open for breakfast.

Rooms were comfortable and spatious.

Restaurant was not working because of the off season. There was a black ant infestation in the room. We brought take out and they got into styrofoam containers. There were 100s of them

The property is beautiful I was surprised, it feels like an ancient colonial building not unlike Antigua Guatemala. The rooms were more than Ok for the price, comfortable beds (even the couch). They told us the pool would be closed so we got a room upgrade. it wasn’t closed which was great to find after driving five hours from San Jose to rest there. If you go by 4x4, there is a ton of secluded nice beaches (especially playa Minas)

Not unlike most of Guanacaste, the road leading to the property gets awfully dark. We were there just before the new moon so no light at all. On that note, at 6:30 pm I missed the hotel entrance twice which I identified a million times better during the day. So whilst there could be more signs or lights, I could have also paid more attention

Writing this on behalf of my parents, who I booked this hotel for - They were happy with their stay at this hotel. The grounds were immaculately kept, customer service was excellent, room was comfortable! They enjoyed their stay in Costa Rica.

Transportation is required to most places. If able, I would suggest renting a car because it makes getting around a bit more tedious. With that being said, everyone was very helpful with helping to plan rides and call taxi's. One suggestion would be to have a daily shuttle that makes trips to places like Tamarindo or drop offs to the beach/ spots, Moonlight market etc and attractions in the area. A few more options for breakfast would be lovely as well.

We didn't have a car therefore the following 2 points were of importance to us. We were told the nearest beach was within walking distance. It would be if there were sidewalks. We did it once and took us a very long time as we had to walk in the ditch. We didn't risk our lives again. We booked this hotel because it has a restaurant and bar. To find out it was only open for breakfast therefore we had to taxi into town every day

I had not read any reviews for Casas del Toro before arriving at the place, so I was very pleasantly surprised with what I found. Nice, stylish, comfty accomodation very close to Potrero and Flamingo (the beaches I visited), supermarkets, the Flamingo Marina, and so on. Mediterranean-style complex, with very comfty rooms (coffee maker included). 100% recommended!
