Wildlife: Howler monkeys right out side our room, several birds and butterflies Grounds completely covered in foilage, feels like living in the jungle Secluded Access to local beach, great for sunsets and free cocktail at 5pm from the hotel Excelent service very good buffet breakfast was included Various tours on offer Electric carts for hire to travel to Tamarindo town (15 min walk or 5 min drive) Lovely pool setting with bar service, free insect repellant although insects don't seem to be major problem here Plenty of external restaraunts to vary your menu

Whilst swimming at the beach is possible it is rather rocky, better to go to Tamarindo beach The pool started clean but then became rather cloudy, I suspect something broke down. Just started to improve when we left

Everything at this property was exceptional. From the staff, rooms, pool, grounds but especially THE FOOD was simply incredible. Most of their ingredients are sourced from their local organic farm and their emphasis on organic, vegetarian and gluten free options is so thoughtful, we just LOVED everything on their menu but there's plenty of meat options as well. We ate their every night and most lunches and didn't get tired of the menu, there are so many options. And the included breakfast buffet plus a la carte options is the best free breakfast I've ever had from a hotel. So fresh, healthy, delicious with so many options for someone like me who has so many dietary restrictions (gluten free, egg free and low tyramine (migraine) diet) I usually can eat nothing at a free breakfast buffet so I was SO happy and so was the entire family. Also, everything else was just wonderful, Playa Langosta beach was just steps away and much less busy from Tamarindo. Yoga classes were wonderful, the instructors were GREAT. And what hotel offers free, delicious house mixed fresh cocktails at sunset every night???!!

Nothing!

Luxurious boutique hotel - one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed in.

They seem to let people who aren’t staying in the hotel use the pool? There were some very noisy American children there on 1 day who were ex pats from the USA. A sea view would be perfect but difficult to achieve and sea was only a short walk away.

We had a fabulous stay at Cala Luna. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful. Johnny at the front desk provided impeccable service and Eddy helped arranged multiple excursions for us. The food was amazing. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable. A group of monkeys live right beyond the wall of the resort and we were able to observe them many times right outside of our room - so fun. We also had spa treatments and they were the best! We took the free bikes into town one day and enjoyed Tamarindo. The sunset happy hours are really special. Thank you!

It is an oasis in a busy area like Tamarindo, very calm and cosy. The breakfast and all the food in the restaurant are impressive, fresh, well-cooked and healthy, beautifully served. Nice swimming pool, but sometimes there are no available sun beds. The room was well equipped, spacious, stylish, and clean. A cleaning lady pleased our little one and us as well with funny creatures made of towels after tidying up the room

I do not like the location of our room. We saw and heard air conditioners serving the hotel's needs, and it felt like a backyard location.

Really beautiful property and the rooms were so spacious. Some of the staff was outstanding! Great access to the beach.

Really just some odd customer service things… we were there for our 10 year wedding anniversary (which I let them know ahead of time). I booked massages, and when we asked about being in one room, they said we would have needed to let them know ahead of time… well I think if someone is booking an anniversary trip and asks for massages, maybe you should ask if they want them together at that point? I’d just assume a couples massage would be together. Also, our actual anniversary was on the night we ate dinner at the hotel (food was outstanding) but they didn’t even acknowledge it… thought that was really weird for an upscale resort. Anyway, we’d stay again, but just lower our expectations as it relates to service/communication.

We had a great stay at Cala Luna. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was clean, comfortable and had great amenities...including sunscreen and bug repellent! The drinks at the restaurant were tasty and the breakfast delicious with a great spread of options. Love that we had access to the beach too! The grounds were lush, clean and we may or may not have seen a skunk LOL

The only thing we didn't love was how much we could hear our neighbors. Thankfully we only had neighbors for part of our stay but when they were there, we could hear their conversations and any tv/music they were playing...assuming they could hear us as well.

Cala Luna was outstanding in every sense. The service was spot on and incredible responsive. The spa services were extraordinary-among the best, if not the best we’ve ever experienced. The “farm to table” food and artisan cocktails never disappointed.

There wasn’t anything disappointing to be honest. One thing to be aware of for the area in general, the beaches are rocky in certain areas and this is not a low cost vacation spot. Expect to pay close to what you would pay in the US for similar food & drink & activities.

The property has a secluded and very natural feel to it with all of the lush tropical greenery. The pool was wonderful to enjoy. The breakfast was better than we could have expected. The fresh baked goods, fruit, juices were exceptional.

There is nothing I would recommend at this time, as we had all of our needs and wants met while staying there and would definitely go back.

One of the most gorgeous hotels we’ve ever stayed in, staff went above and beyond to make out stay perfect in every way, complimentary cocktails on the beach for the beautiful sunsets every night were the icing on the cake. Lovely (warm) pool with howler monkeys and beautiful birds all around. Delicious breakfast. Only a short taxi ride into the centre but nice to come back to the calm! Loved every minute!
