A lot! This hotel is great. We stayed in the premium double room, I think? It goes right out to the pool and was so convenient not to have to use stairs with three little ones (this hotel is very kid friendly too!) The rooms are spacious and clean. The beds are very comfy. It was nice to have a little porch area to dry clothes and sit outside. There is a cooking area. The pool is gorgeous and everything seems really chill and secluded from the city. The beach is right across the street and there's an open shower by the pool to wash off sand before going back to the room. And all the restaurants that we went to were less than a five minute walk.

It's not that big of a deal to me but the bathroom was really small. And there was no bathroom by the pool. It would have been nice to use a pool bathroom inside of our own for while we were swimming to keep our room floor from getting so wet.

We had two rooms with one on the second floor and one room right below on the bottom floor. The upper room had a double balcony where we enjoyed cocktails after dinner. It's right in the midst of Tamarindo restaurants and shops. It was also across the street from the beach. We liked the proximity. Beautiful pool and jacuzzi. BBQ island as well. Secure parking. Family run business I believe. In that parking on the main street of Tamarindo can be difficult, we appreciated just parking our car on site and walking as everything is within walking distance.

Since it is in the midst of all the party action, we did hear some of that as we fell asleep.

The room comfortably fit my entire family for days! Fridge was huge. You CANNOT BEAT THE LOCATION. It is across the street from the beach. They lock the place up at night and it was very secure. The AC in the rooms was strong and necessary for the humidity of Tamarindo. The staff and their dogs were a lot of fun - great suggestions and tips on activities.

You cannot choose your neighbors. Ours were a little loud in the early part of the evening but really got quiet after 9pm. If it continued late into the evening I would have felt comfortable talking with the staff for help but it never came to that...

We were upgraded to a king bed which was great because that’s what we are used to. The pool was clean and refreshing. The location is excellent and any noise at night was drowned out by shutting bathroom door which has louvered windows and having the AC on. Right across from the path to the beach, my favourite stores and the waffle monkey where we had breakfast on the beach daily. You can walk anywhere in town from here.

The two small things that could have been improved, is a bedside table or even a shelf above the bed. There is enough room to move the bed from the wall and put a 6”shelf/ headboard type thing behind. The other small thing is coffee packets. There is a coffee maker with no coffee.

The staff is friendly, accommodating, the rooms have a decent size, comfy bed, the pool is great! For the price, a really good option.

I loved the outdoor kitchen, though I wished for more amenities & structure there ( plates, cutlery, no oil, salt, pepper, no basics for cooking, really old cookware, etc). In general the outdoor is very well maintained, the indoors has gotten into the years & could use some replacement here and there. No hair dryer.

The hotel is in a great location across the street from the beach, right in the centre of town and the price is very reasonable. The rooms are shabby but the king size bed was very comfortable and the AC worked well. The pool was big and there's a small outdoor kitchen if you want to cook something although utensils are limited.

We didn't have any hot water, we mentioned it to the guy who checked us in and he said 'yes you do' he didn't offer to check it he just kept saying that we HAD hot water. I would stay here again soley based on location and price but my husband wouldn't, the cold showers were a step too far!

In the heart of the city. No need to drive anywhere to go to the beach, restaurants and shops. The onsite pool was very refreshing at the end of the day and I feel the car parking on the building facilities to be relatively secure.

Well with being in the heart of town it tended to be a bit noisy at night. We had left the bathroom window open and the door closed for the air conditioning but think if we would have closed it it would have been less. If you are someone needing ultimate quiet to sleep you may want to bring earplugs or rent far outside the city and drive in.

The hotel was conveniently located right in the heart of the fun part of Tamarindo. Everything was easily walkable and we had a view of the pool from our balcony doors. At night we were also able to watch the lightning from the storm rolling in. The property is beautifully landscaped and the entire place has a very welcoming and home vibe.

The only downside to our stay was the noise from the construction happening along the main road but of course this was no fault of Hotel Mar Rey.

The location is amazing and the staff were so friendly and kind. The rooms have great balconies with seating. The pool was clean and there was a great area for preparing food. Beds were very comfortable.

Some street noise, but that can’t be helped because it is in the middle of everything! Coffee maker in the room, but no coffee provided. Shampoo and body wash not labeled and no beach or pool towels provided.

The staff was the best part of our stay, so helpful and friendly you felt like family. The property was on the Main Street directly across from the beach so a great spot with lots of restaurants etc. near by. It was very quiet and the pool was lovely. I highly recommend staying there.

The bathroom could use an upgrade and some paint. Nice shower though.
