We liked the smooth check-in process and the Hotel has a secure place to park a car. The location is right on the beach and so was our room. The sunsets from our patio were really spectacular. Sea shells washed up on the beach and the sand strand was easy to stroll along. The Hotel is located in the downtown area surrounded by lovely shops and terrific restarants. And yet, when you are in your room you don't hear any sounds from the street, just the sounds of the surf. There is a restaurant attached to the Hotel and it is active at night. But we were visiting in October in low season so there wasn't any night time revelry. We would definitely book this hotel again when visiting Tamarindo.

The shower is an eco shower - no hot water. The water is the temperature of the air, so not cold either. It proved to be invigorating! Sand gets in everything!

The location was excellent, in the centre of town yet very quiet at night. The deck chairs and hammocks reserved from guests were very welcome, and allowed us to have our own private space very close to the beach ( so close, on high tide the water comes lapping at your feet. It was very warm when we went there but the aircon and the ceiling fans were excellent and quiet, which was a real bonus.

The room we were in didn’t have much storage space to put our clothes and dry our wet gear. It’s something that could easily be solved, since the room was spacious and was more like a studio than a hotel room.

La Palapa is a fantastic location. Walk out onto Tamarindo Beach. We went during spring break so price was higher than any other time. Staff is absolutely wonderful and accommodating! Rolando helped make our stay perfect. Our room was #3 (closest to the beach and the loft layout that had a king size bed on main floor and a full size in the loft.) Small refrigerator/ microwave. Air-conditioning worked well along with ceiling fans. We did not have the included breakfast but just a few steps from the hotel is Buon Appetito (really good prices, cappuccino/coffee and breakfast...lunches too). The attached restaurant at the hotel is separate and seemed a bit pricey. Again, it is separate (not owned?) by the hotel. Hammocks/lounge chairs available for free as guests. There are so many restaurants and small shops surrounding the hotel! Loved our stay!

We loved our stay in the family room at La Palapa. The location directly on the beach was perfect -- we could easily walk to everywhere in town, and enjoyed the beautiful private beach lounge area every day. The staff were very helpful in arranging transportation for us, both to and from Tamarindo.

There were no power outlets in the upstairs sleeping loft, and the water pressure in the shower was quite low. The room was perfect for a family with young kids, but I think it would have felt crowded if our kids were much bigger.

The location is amazing. My room was on the 2nd floor with a balcony overlooking the beach and the lively activities including singers, horses, surfers and general revelers. The room was very nice and modern. Rolando at the front desk was FANTASTIC and so nice! Bonus: the monkeys were playing in the trees off the balcony!

The hotel itself is rustic and on the beach. It is not luxurious and quite rudimentary. HOWEVER, the room (#9) was very modern and updated with an icy cold AC. This is not the hotel if you have mobility issues. However if you are mobile, like the rustic, authentic feel, this hotel is great.

Wonderful location on the beach, close to shopping, restaurants and bars, Great staff, especially Rolando, who went out of his way to make us comfortable and welcome. Including a great breakfast at your choice of 2 restaurants.

We picked the wrong type of room, with bed in balcony and bathroom on 1st floor, not great for nighttime bathroom issues, though they did add a mattress on pull out bed to make my husband more comfortable. Also there were some issues with water going off for periods of times, not sure if that was just in our hotel or the whole area though.

Great location. Went in the off season (Sept) so not as crowded. Rolando was always super friendly and helpful with everything from tour tips to restaurants. Room was spacious.

Hotel restaurant prices way over priced. Drinks were watered down not only at Hotel restaurant but all Bars we visited. WE had to buy our own alochol to make own drinks. No Microwave in room to re-heat left overs. House keeping missed one day.

We enjoyed staying at the hotel La Palapa. The hotel is in a great location right on the beach. the sunset was amazing and we could enjoy it right from our deck. The staff was great and went above and beyond to accommodate our requests.

This was our second stay at La Palapa. The rooms are gorgeous even though they are small. The beach is lovely and there are lots of restaurants nearby. We went to a market in the town on Saturday morning and I understand they have one on Thursday nights as well. It was a large market, you can get all kinds of food and other items there. We got some empanadas for our road trip but ended up eating them on the plane ride home. Excellent.

The beach is a little busier than we like but it is good for people watching. Santa was there both years we visited!

Staff were very friendly. Grounds were very well kept and clean. Lots of chairs and hammocks. Location was central to everything and great views. Wifi and water all functioned well.

Water only provided first day. Bathroom a little small. Bed could use a foam layer or replacing. Room to hang wet clothes,towels etc.
