The property is very nice, in a very safe for family especially with children, secluded location, right in front of the beach. The food was very good and had a lot of variety. We really like the Japanese restaurant and Italian. The staffs were excellent and very friendly provided great service. The food there was so good. However, you would need to make reservations ahead of time. The Italian restaurant was only opened on Friday to Sunday, so keep that in mind. The sauna was very nice too. I only found out on the last day so I only used it once but I felt very relaxed and refreshed after using it.

The only thing we didn’t like is there is no elevator in our building. It’s only one floor so it wasn’t a big problem for us. Just need to mention it the message that you want a room in a building that has elevator.

There was a relaxed flow to the day on the resort with large windows of time to go to the free buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner and with plenty of drinks and snacks throughout the rest of the day. In between there was life around the pool area and I particularly enjoyed the aqua aerobics as well as reading at the beach cafe where you could be mesmerised with both the ocean and the swimming pool area at the same time. Dipping in and out of the pool througout the day was great as well as the sunsets down at the beach.

The room was somewhat tired with lots of minor things not well maintained - the airconditioning leaked drops of water on the floor, the door to the veranda was very stiff but able to be opened, the flyscreen door to the verandar was broken. I wouldn't have expected these things in such a high level resort. Also you should be aware that the resort is about 2 kms from Tamarindo beach / town and the resort offers no transportaton there so I took a local taxi that cost me US$16 for the return trip.

Clean facility, at the very end of town, so it was quiet. Also right on the beach. Easy to dip in the ocean or take a nice quiet stroll. We were there three nights, which gave us the opportunity to try one of the restaurants included in the price.

It was very hard for us, a group of 18, to book in the restaurant for all of us - no table could seat more than 4. It was not possible to do tables of six or eight we were told. After adjusting the time, because we could only be seated outside at this size group, we get one table for all - wonderful….except there was a scheduled show, right outside, with loud music. We had not been told, and, as it was our first time here we could neither know about the outside stage being right by the outside restaurant terrass. Luckily the staff at the restaurant worked with us to move inside! Which by the way was practically empty and had lots of space!

The check-in process was very long, as there was a huge line to check-in and get keys right at the check-in time. But the staff was very nice and attentive once you reached the front. The food is really good, but again, there can be lines, but if you go at a different time than everyone else, then you can avoid the lines. We were sad there was no show on the night we were there, even though it said there was a show. Also, there were no activities specifically for kids, even though the schedule showed kids activities. The only activities that happened that I saw was some pool dancing.fitness, and some games set up by the pool (darts and mini golf hole). The room was really nice and the beach is beautiful - right out front! You can cross the little stream and walk along a lovely long beach (playa langosta) with lots of sand dollars. Incredible sunset beach.

The cost to add a child/person to the reservation at the hotel was a lot more expensive than adding it on booking.com. So I had to cancel my booking on booking.com and re-book on the website to get the better price. The lines to check-in can be very long if tour group comes same day as you. Some of the activities and entertainment they advertise on their schedule do not happen.

I liked that we didn't have to do anything. Everything was organized and well set up. Food and drink was constantly available. The resort was well maintained, both inside and outside. For those who want a beach experience, this is the best beach location in Tamarindo, Costa Rica.

The only thing that was not to a high level of excellence was the restaurant La Fontana. Although the meal was "free," we were confused by the menu and wine list. My seafood linguine was fabulous and generous. My husband's ravioli was hard and didn't have much ham in it; he didn't eat it. Italian restaurants begin with bread or bread sticks and end with coffee; both of these were lacking. Also, we were uncertain about leaving the restaurant and whether we were to leave a tip or not. Basically, we needed more info about the restaurant's protocols.

Resort is very well laid out, from most rooms you don’t have to walk too far to get to the lobby, restaurant, pool or beach. We had an ADA room because my partner has mobility issues and it was perfect - nice room with safety bars and close to facilities. The staff are very accommodating, food at the buffet is great but go early before favorite items run out. It’s not a fancy resort but clean, nice pool, good food. The beach has some good surf - part of it is rocky but there is enough area to get into the water away from the rocks. The resort is only one mile from Tamarindo if you want bigger beaches but Tamarindo is a busy congested tourist town. Jusy the travel planner was extremely helpful to find us an excursion that met our needs and also transportation to the airport, She booked us on the Palo Verde boat tour which is a great way to see some wildlife and the villages along the way. Francisco was our guide and driver - he provided us with so much cultural information on top of his kindness! Also if you want a great head to toe massage - just walk down the beach to the right of the hotel( opposite way from the river) , there is a woman named Julie who gives a great head to toe massage for a reasonable price - total luxury while listening to the ocean waves!

Wish they had the bar by the beach open later and some evening music by the beach would have been nice.

I really liked the distance from downtown. It was quiet, but close enough to walk into town. The service was very good. The food options were good. Having the "wet bar" in the room was really nice. The local surfers come to the beach near Occidental, so they were fun to watch. There were plenty of lounge chairs near the pool and on the beach. I liked that it seemed to be a family friendly place so there were not a lot of drunk/rowdy people there. The rooms seemed well insulated so that we did not hear the neighbors. Seeing and hearing the Howler Monkeys from our balcony was an added bonus.

The wifi kind of stunk where our room was located - it was good in the lobby and by the pool.

I liked desserts , main food , the pool was nice

All the rest of it, the staff were wonderful; especially the travel agent for the tours, she was amazing

There could have been some more up to date information in the brochure, like how laundry works (as the information was out of date).

Nice and spacious room, clean with daily service at convenient times during the day, nice architecture and landscaping of the overall resort, well-taken care of vegetation, excellent location, large swimming pool - most of the time the water temperature was warm, decent food variety at the main restaurant, good selection of games to be played at the pool.
