The hotel is well situated and generally well presented. However there are so many small things that could make such a difference and make it a really special place and maximise its potential. Having bottled water in a room is an absolute given, regardless of the standard/ cost of a room. The TV in the bedroom whilst it powered up was not functional, no remote for this to. The one in the lounge worked fine. Absolutely nothing in the fridge, we booked a suite, at least offer one beer or a small bottle of wine and find a way of being compensated for this. The breakfast whilst ok could be vastly improved on, simple wins. Staff, location and the ambience of the hotel is very good and for very little investment it could be so much better. Bar closes at 11pm and no room service is available after this time… even travel lodges win in this regard. Definitely stay again come on guys you really are so close to being something really special. Please take this as constructive criticism it’s not vindictive in any way. Your hotel was the last of 7 we stayed as we travelled through, Spain, Switzerland, France and Belgium. We travel a lot and in no way am I attempting to be picky here. Great spa bath btw!

The building is quite old and has maintained a pleasant, spacious retro look and feel in the hotel indoor public areas. A large garden outside the hotel restaurant provided plenty of seating. The woodland location is very peaceful with little road traffic and plenty of opportunity for walks. The room itself was very spacious and modern with air conditioning, a large bathroom with a large bath and an excellent separate roomy shower cubicle as well as two sinks and a heated mirror with colour-adjustable lighting. The main bedroom area had a comfortable double bed with sockets and lamps on the bedside tables either side, a dining table with two chairs and a small chaise longue. There was a small fridge with mineral water that had room for a bottle of wine or a few beers, a cupboard & a large internally-lit wardrobe. The large HD TV was mounted on an artists easel which was cute and there was a nice view over the trees & gardens from the window. The staff were friendly and spoke German & English as well as Dutch. There was plenty of free parking by the hotel or in the hotel car park on the other side of the road.

While it didn't affect our stay, a few of the floor tiles on the ground floor by the lift were cracked and it would improve the appearance if they were better maintained. The waiter spotted that we needed an ashtray when we sat outside but did not replace the overflowing one he saw on our table.

Large hotel with cosy bar/restaurant, next to a fantastic wood, about 4km from the city centre. We had a (very) large room and enjoyed good dinner and breakfasts. The hotel oozes with vintage decorations and features, but without becoming too much. Interesting: we do travel a lot, but this was the first time we enjoyed adjustable matrasses (from soft to hard) by means of electric pumps. A first for us, but remarkably enjoyable and useful!

the sitting area in our room could have been more cosy - but we loved the fact that we had one.

The setting was lush next to the forest, the way the hotel still has the original fittings was brilliant and the breakfast was the best I've had on this trip across Europe. The staff were really helpful too.

It was a little far from the train station but if I'd reasearchrf properly I would have found the regular bis that stops about 200maeay. Try the 9292 app for public transport, suggested by the staff at this hotel, it's brilliant across the Netherlands.

The location is great, at the entrance of the forest. The surrounding is beautiful and parking is free. Very big bathroom, and very friendly front desk stuff.

The facilities in the room are truly outdated, they really need to be renovated. The beds are way too old and soft and they are not comfy. Cleaness is also an issue, one can see easily dust on the table after cleaning.

I reserved a single room and although it was really small, it was all I needed. Wifi was amazing, the location was peaceful. Breakfast delicious, just maybe not a lot of choice for such a price. The staff was probably the nicest staff I have encountered and I travel a lot for work.

The first bus station going to the centre was 22 minutes away on foot.

Hotel Mastbosch is a nice hotel that looks like just a little chateaux in the forest. It is located next to the forest Mastbosch which offers many options for walks or jogging etc. The staff was very nice and helpful, whether I needed a hairdryer, triple AAA batteries or just advice, they always solved my problem. Also when I needed a taxi, which is not often easy in Breda, they managed to call me a car. One day I had a dinner in the restaurant and it was absolutely delicious. The carrot cake was just a little piece of art. Also the candlelight atmosphere was very lovely. As for the room, it had a huge spacious desk and good chair, which is for me a must. The room itself is big and you can regulate the heating (it was kind of cold outside, but inside I felt warm and cozy). The bed was also big and quite comfortable. The furniture in the room is a bit old-school but in a good way and it matches the atmosphere of the whole hotel.

This is not the fault of the hotel, but during the weekends there is no nearby public transport (line 6 does not operate on Saturday and Sunday).

Our daughter has just moved to the area and we wanted a base to visit . We have found the most excellent base!! The hotel is full of character and the welcome was genuine.The breakfast was a real treat - very fresh.
