A lovely friendly welcome, great information on local walks, and swim spots. Fantastic value to have self catering facilities, and nice to share the communal space with other travelers. Bed comfy and dorm quiet, toilets and showers plentiful. Great location, and WiFi (in some areas!)

The gate to carpark is awkward for solo travelers: out car, open gate, in car, gate blows shut, out car again etc.... Must remember key and key card every time you leave dorm, but that makes security better too

It's been decades since stayed in a YHA, I have to say they've came on leaps and bounds. There was no restaurants nor alcohol on sail. So to be able to buy a dinner and a couple of Beers, then Breakfast in morning was great for me. I was heading to Folkstone, then France on a 3 week Holiday by Motorcycle. So to be able to use the Hostil for a one night stop and not have to unpack the Bike, was ideal and I was able to bring Bike into the Courtyard and park alongside the Wall to shelter it a bit. Again it was ideal. On way back on Wednesday 30th, I got the 2.30 Train from French side , which is confusing to think @ 1hr ahead leaving France on a 35minute journey, you arrive the same time you left. Anyway by the time I got up country around Cambridge, I tried calling Grinton, as Booking.com was showing no availability but they were closed at reception by then. So I ended up driving on and ended up in a Friend's House near Glasgow. To much driving for one day @ 520 miles !

For a Hostel, they had everything covered, I was even able to hire a Towel. Which of course meant I didn't have to use mine. Yes, I have to say I was impressed, as I don't use Hotels and B^B's, for m e it's Camping all the way. But @ £15.00 per night with all the Home comforts mentioned and just the whole convenience that it was for me. What's not to like ?

This hostel is beautifully located - not convenient for anything, but because of that it is serene and peaceful surrounded by stunning landscape. I went and stood outside at night just to appreciate the silence! The bed was the most comfortable bed I've experienced in a hostel, and the shower was lovely. Free drinking water taps, information about the local area and everything else you need for exploring the nearby hiking trails. The young lady on reception (a girl who was going to study nursing at Hull University, can't remember her name!) deserves a shout out for her warm welcome and patient nature when dealing with multiple guests at once. The best thing I think was the breakfast - a set price for as much as you like. Great set up for the long hike ahead! Loved my stay here.

The only thing that would improve this hostel is to have curtains on the beds. Otherwise, it's perfect!

Where to begin? Staying at the YHA Grinton was like being in a chateau or castle off the beaten path. It was the first destination on my motorbike tour and I absolutely loved it. Stunning views of the Yorkshire Dales. Great service and access to meals. Lovely social environments and I even met other riders on their tours. Showers and beds were very convenient, and motorcycle parking was safe and secure. It was also a great starting point for exploring the country roads in the Dales. Couldn't have asked for a better place, really!

Can't complain about anything. I wanted a place away from civilisation and I got it. I had a lovely time.

Staff were very friendly and the location, close to Reeth at the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, , is very special. Lovely countryside but not too isolated. Excellent walks from the door, great views and plenty of quiet areas to sit and read or chat. It was pretty busy on the Saturday night, Sunday breakfast was well attended and good value .

Nothing, really. We liked Youth Hostels in our youth and they provide so many opportunities still, for both young and old, to experience trips to special places. You are not staying at a 5 star hotel but the price reflects that. Our double room was warm and cosy. The bathroom upstairs was obviously a work in progress but the new claw footed bath was really nice and there was plenty hot water.

Reception staff were really helpful The view from room was great (sheep, pheasants, moor) Meals were hearty and staff in restaurant were lovely The self catering kitchens were great / well equipped and kept clean

I thought I had booked an en-suite family room but in the end the loos and showers were just across the corridor Some of the loos had different items not working such as hand dryers, no soap, holes in wall, People were wedging open fire doors, presumably staff as the wedges all matched. This is so dangerous - please don’t do it The big lounge was cold

the location was perfect for a walking weekend, with the start for the first walk literally over the road from the Lodge. The Breakfast was amazing, grandson had a full English breakfast and i had a continental breakfast with lots of choice. The beds (bunkbeds- exciting for a 7 year old) were comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the lady that served breakfast to my grandson helped him to be confident in his ordering

YHA Grinton Lodge is an absolute gem! From the moment me and my family arrived, we was greeted with warmth and hospitality. The location is stunning, nestled in the beautiful countryside of Yorkshire Dales. The lodge itself is cozy, there was 3 beds in the Pod, a heater, out door chairs to sit on and a chance if u choose to have a log fire , we roasted some marshmallows... The indoor accommodation was basic but clean and comfortable, What truly sets this place apart is the friendly staff who go above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay. There was a shared kitchen we decided to have a BBQ outside next to the Pods so we didn't try the food.

I particularly enjoyed the outdoor activities, theres so many beautiful walks and waterfalls close by it was so peaceful and rejuvenating. I can't recommend it enough for the price. We will definitely be going back.

I didn't expect such an amazing place. The staff were super friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and comfortable and we had an evening meal and breakfast and both were delicious and a fantastic price! The views were great, the atmosphere was friendly, we would 100% book again! The staff and their hardwork absolutely make that place!

The only negative comment I have is that the automatic motion sensored light in the family room wasn't ideal as when someone got up in the middle of the night for the toilet it lit the whole room up and woke the children.

Beautiful building in stunning location and a tremendous view. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. We booked a room for three with private bathroom and were allocated a room with 3 sets of bunk beds so we all had a bottom bunk. Bathroom facilities were spotless. Breakfast was great value with really nice coffee. Just a short walk from a nearby pub for food although they also serve evening meals and have their own bar.
