We arrived at the Rokeby inn to find that the owners had notification that the booking had been cancelled…….! (Notification was from booking.com) I had no such notification at all - I did have the booking confirmation and the email receipt of payment. Anyway what could have been a real problem was resolved by the owners in a kind and exceptional way! They gave us the use of an immaculate holiday home a few miles away for the night! The house really was lovely in a beautiful little village. We were very grateful to the owners for this. We have stayed in the Rokeby Inn in the past and would certainly recommend it as a comfortable and convenient location.

Ideal for us. We were heading for Scotland to see family and basically just wanted somewhere to sleep. This place was ideal for us. Right on the road so we had no problem finding it. We thought we were going to be too late for dinner but it was not a problem. We had a fabulous meal in a cozy little bar. The room was great with tea and coffee making facilities and the full breakfast the following morning was exceptional. Staff so kind and accommodating.

Lovely friendly place with good food and good breakfast. Room was warm and cosy. Bath and shower was great to have choice. Dog friendly was a big plus and lovely welcome package for them on arrival. Handy for main road and Yorkshire Dale's. Lots of grass around accommodation to walk the dogs on.

One side of mattress had collapsed, we had to turn the mattress around so we didnt fall out of bed, also a few holes in duvet cover and pillow cases. Cost of dogs was quite alot, would be nice to have cost per dog advertised before booking.

Location and convenience for an overnight stop. Friendly staff Warm rooms Good choice for gluten-free guests, especially GF batter with the fish and chips, which you don't often get Good choice for breakfast, but see below

The sausage was disappointing, not up to the standard of the rest of the breakfast. We found the double bed a bit narrow, and I personally didn't sleep well, which was inconvenient as I was driving.

Very well-located on the borders of North Yorkshire and County Durham, a good place for a stopover. The rooms are on the smallish side but scrupulously clean, and the double-glazing meant it was quiet even though it's on a main road. We slept well, and the breakfast was terrific - the 'small English' was the perfect size for me, while my husband enjoyed his 'full English', and the quality was great.

We chose this location as a stop over on the way to Scotland. The staff were very friendly and welcoming.. Clean and comfortable room with a spacious ensuite bathroom. The breakfast was delicious and very generous. There was a variety of options available, and the host at breakfast was a lovely lady who couldn't do more. Enjoyable stay. We will definitely visit again.

Ideal for overnight stop off en route to Fife from Norfolk. Liked the option of a small breakfast, but would have liked a portion of baked beans!

Room was a bit cramped although bed was comfortable. No wifi available in the room although it was in the public areas. Base of bath very slippery, could benefit from a non slip mat.

Great friendly and smooth check in. Food was delicious and served promptly and good value Room was very clean and comfortable Breakfast was excellent with a good choice and nothing too much trouble if you wanted to adapt the range offered Location was perfect with great views and even though at the side of a road the noise was minimal. Would definitely retuurn

The atmosphere at this place is lovely , locals very friendly . The staff are absolutely incredible and can not do enough for u . The menu is classic pub grub but cooked excellent

rooms smelt damp must have had a recent leak but were clean and had everything we needed so didn’t mind

Friendly and welcoming, in a very handy location for Barnard Castle. Very pet friendly too, even providing a bed, feeding mat, bowl & some treats for our dog (there was a small charge for having him with us). Great breakfast included in our family room rate, which made it really good value.

WiFi didn't work in our room (although to be fair we didn't go and ask if they could sort it).
