Lovely old building with lots of character, in the centre of Richmond. Good room with large comfy bed, plenty of hot water for a bath and good breakfast. Small car park and folk music on during our stay was added bonus.

What a beautiful, historic hotel and Pub. Our stay was only for one night, but we had an exceptional visit and the Hotel was very clean, our room was beautifully decorated the bed was so comfortable even with the Pub below us we heard nothing . You thought of everything from the tea kettle, teas, biscuits, breakfast in am which we sadly had to miss due to our early departure. The food in the pub was exceptional! Sophie the young lady who sang last night in the pub had such a soulful, beautiful voice she sounded just like Amy Winehouse. The Staff was so accommodating. We especially loved the dog friendly city and seeing the many dogs in the pub.. Which we were giving lots of belly rubs to many of them.. we just couldn’t resist. As we had left our three at home.. and miss them terribly. Your town is enchanting! With the beautiful cobblestone roads, historic buildings, old architecture. We came to see your Artist Mackenzie Thorpe whom I absolutely love and have several of his beautiful pieces of Art. The gallery was just beautiful and finally was able to personally meet Mackenzie and his lovely staff. Hubby loved your historic Military Museum and Castle. The lovely boutiques and other wonderful lil restaurants looked like wonderful places to try had our stay been longer we would have definitely tried. Beautiful city and beautiful people ❤️‼️

Fire Alarm went off at 1Am.

We booked a double with a bathroom across the hall however on arrival we we offered a twin en suite which was good. The room was small but we appreciate it's a very old Inn and alterations are not always possible. Room was well equipped, great tea tray! Amazing beds, feather quilts, so lush! Private parking although blocked in by the chef the next morning , luckily we had a late departure. The bar area and snug are cosy and we had a drink before exploring, served in a marked glass. We were told earlier that tea and coffee for the room could be topped up from the bar, there was only sugar and decaff available. The breakfast menu was good and plentiful although we weren't made aware of the deviations available to the table next to us who had smashed avocado poached eggs on toast and porridge. My advice is if it isn't on the menu- ask! Overall it's good value for money and a good night's sleep so would stay here again. Our critical eye is due to 30 years in this industry!

Staff were super friendly and helpful, the food was amazing, and the atmosphere in the pub was warm and relaxing.

The only thing we had an issue with was the fact that the room we had was on a slop, I know it's an old inn, and this is to be expected because of the age of the building and it's not the company or staff fault BUT after lying in the double bed my wife vertigo was triggered because of it not being level, which caused us a sleepless night and some issues. This isn't a negative about the stay because we would return and happily stay again, but we would need to ask more questions about the room, that's all.

Great location. Very close to the main square, castle, and other attractions such as the railway station businesses and riverside walks. The staff are friendly and allowed us to book in early and park our car while we visited the castle and did the river walk. The beer served there is excellent. In the room, there were tea bags and good quality coffee bags, as well as biscuits and hot chocolate sachets.

There was some noisy renovation work going on outside, and the floors are uneven in places. But this is an old building and added to the character.

The location is perfect, 30 seconds walk from the bustling market square and a great base for exploring Swaledale and Wensleydale. The breakfast was delicious and there were a variety of options. Our cockapoo, Jackson, particularly enjoyed the sausages the chef cooked for him each morning! The bar is very welcoming and extremely dog-friendly. We struck up several conversations built out of initial compliments of other people’s dogs! We ate in the hotel each night; there is a lot of choice, the set menu is great value and the food is excellent. There is also a good range of drinks with excellent local ales on tap. Would definitely stay here again if visiting Richmond.

We were happy with everything

In the heart of Richmond. Good breakfast in a dedicated breakfast room and very convenient for the town and surroundings.Our room was spacious and bed was comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful

Parking a bit of a lottery. Limited spaces at the hotel. Parking close by is free overnight otherwise limited to 2hrs mon-sat. using disc display system Toilet flush was a fine balance in our room. Hot and cold tap pressures were either torrent or trickle.

Great location. One minute walk to the main square with loads of restaurants, shops and pubs. Market on Saturday morning was a bonus. Free parking, just a bit tight. Lovely brekky with lots of choice set in a really nice room. Tea/Coffee facilities in room had lots of choice. Staff friendly and helpful. Quality bedding and pillows. Good TV package. Lunch at pub decent.

WiFi intermittent. Room too hot to start off with until I turned the heating off. Corridors can be noisy when people are walking past. Woken up by a family with kids around 10.30pm running up and down.

Convenient in the middle of Richmond. There was parking on site. The staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing seemed any trouble. Room clean and tidy but looks tired. The hotel is very old which could make it difficult to modernise. The breakfast on the Saturday was tasty and they were able to substitute the bacon for vegetarian sausages on the eggs Benedict.

The breakfast on the Sunday wasn’t enjoyable. The mushrooms were bland and didn’t taste of anything. The beans were also bland and looked like they were the last of the pan, having sat there for ages.

The location was as stated: within a short walking distance from shops and tourist attractions. The beds were extremely comfortable (much more than the big chain hotel we stayed in the week before) and the pillows were of exceptional quality. There was a good variety of choices for breakfast, where you could order something from the menu and help yourself from the buffet too. Staff were pleasant and attentive; we arrived early and were able to check in before the specified time, which was much appreciated after a long journey.

Being an old building, it was a little chilly. Having a blanket in the room for those of us who feel the cold would have been a welcome addition.
