Too many dogs! We are not dog lovers and most of them were well behaved. However we were in danger of tripping over leads and some dogs were allowed to sit on the chairs! It was particularly bad on Sunday because of the numbers so some were barking quite a lot. This is our third time at the Kings Head and we love staying there but I do think you are encouraging dog owners to the detriment of guests like us.

Room was upgraded & staff were lovely, welcoming & helpful. The hotel was clean & warm & we would definatly return.

Breakfast was a disaster. Tables weren't cleared (only 1 member of staff visible, dealing with the whole restaurant for the 1.5 hrs that we were sat there) and we waited for 70 mins for our cooked breakfast. We discovered that the order had been given to the kitchen immediately after it was taken, but the kitchen ?? ignored the order (no actual reason give, which was understandable as the young waitress obviously didn't want to point the finger of blame) She was incredibly apologetic for our ridiculous wait. It was not her fault - she was run off her feet! She needed more staff to help her. Other staff were visible, but stayed in the kitchen, not out in the restaurant.

The hotel was clean and the location excellent. Car parking available too. Lovely lounge area. Good breakfast and staff excellent

I paid for a superior room as I believed it to have a walk in shower as shown in photos. However it was a shower over the bath which I find difficult to access. We were offered the chance to change rooms after first night but chose not to as were with another couple and w didn’t want the disruption. Strong smell of paint in rooms and on stairs. Whole hotel was cold . Problem with pigeon droppings in car park but handled very well by reception who did not charge for parking.

Beautiful, big, high ceilinged bedroom. Our huge bed was really comfortable. The Roberts radio, on and tuned into Classic FM was a welcoming touch. It was a most comfortable and cosy retreat from the bitterly cold weather. We were very happy to have been complimentary upgraded. Cute rubber duck in the bathroom and lovely organic bathroom products. A very nice touch.

We opted against paying £10 to park in the hotel car park. There is free disc parking in the square outside the hotel for 2 hours between 8am and 6pm. We shuffled our parking between the disc parking overnight and free unrestricted parking a little way out of town.

I can not fault this place at all. I came up from Birmingham with my brother to stay for 2 days for my cousins wedding . Staff were very welcoming and helped us with the local taxi services as we would be getting back late. The food there was very nice and fresh. The room was very nice and spacious, but the bet topped it off and was massive and very comfy! I missed missed one morning breakfast, but on the last day, I made sure I woke up early to get it. The produce they use for the full English was very nice and everything came freshly cooked. With a nice variety of breads, tea and coffee, your fruits, and more.. I would highly recommend this place if you're in the Richmond area for sure. It is a shame we didn't get the explore the area more on such a short stay.

The only fault I can say is that there is no pay meter parking, which is right outside the hotel which is a shame . The hotel does provide a 2 hour slot which you have to change every two hours... Other then that I can not fault this place at all

The cleanliness of the rooms and dining area were exceptional and the rooms had everything you needed for a comfortable stay including tea and coffee facilities,TV, hairdryer and ironing board and iron and plenty of towels. The dining room was very tidy and catered for everyone with their choices of breakfast and evening meals. The staff were very friendly and helpful which was good to see aswel.

The private car park around the back of the hotel has a barrier to enter and you have to get close to the sensor for it to raise which was annoying and when leaving the carpark, we weren't told by the staff that you needed a code to lift the barriers so we were waiting for a while but no luck and so we had to go back inside the hotel to ask the question.

The 1st night I stayed here I was in a large double bed room. It had everything and was up to a high standard. The fan helped to reduce the noise from the square. A small radio playing classical music was a nice touch. Steeped in history, comfortable, spacious. The bathroom had a large bath, high quality toiletries, towels etc.

I waited a whole 1 hour for my breakfast. The cooked breakfast when it arrived was good quality. However the tea by this time was of course cold and I wasn't offered more. The set up with having to get your own milk and carry over a bowl of milk and cereal through tables didn't make sense. They could have easily brought milk to each table for cereal and hot drinks and allowed you to go and select your cereal. They seemed understaffed or not organised for breakfast properly.

I have stayed at this wonderful hotel for many years and seen it develop into a comfortable place to stay when visiting relatives.

As I get older, I find the lack of a lift and no staff to help with baggage accessing bedrooms surprising and wearisome. I also found the removal of the secondary double glazing in the bedroom I occupied on the first floor equally surprising given the intensity of the noise from the beautiful square at front of the hotel at “closing time” from the various entertainment/eating establishments. Ear plugs helpful!

We had a lovely room tucked up away from any hotel or outside noise. Super comfortable and clean. We slept very well. Great location for the town and exploring. Friendly staff.

We stayed two nights so therefore had two breakfasts and we also had Sunday dinner. Not one meal was hot when it arrived. Tasty, but cold. I was also a bit disappointed by the check in staff who assured us our left luggage would not be left unattended. When we came back to check in, there was no one about, but plenty of people milling around or using the toilet facilities at the back of the reception area. A bag could easily have been picked up.

1. The market started setting up at 5am - it woke me up. Very noisy. Windows are not double glazed. 2. Coffee machine was missing a small part so I had to hold onto the water container for it to work. 3. No serving tongs at the breakfast buffet for the croissants or bread. Very unhygienic. 4. The coffee table was taped in the bedroom and this was a 4 star hotel! 5. The chain for the bling kept breaking - easy to repair, but it just needs mending properly.
