The reception was warm and friendly, the room had a spectacular view of the castle and the town, the location is second-to-none. The room was spacious and had everything required. The bed was soft, but extremely comfortable and breakfast, which was cooked to order at a time of my choosing, was delicious. I wish I could have stayed longer.
I did not like that the divan of the bed was badly stained.

Excellent value for money. Room 1 was a very spacious family room with plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits. The beer garden was an absolute delight capturing the sun all afternoon. The full english breakfast was very good too and. overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Its location is good on a traditional cobbled street. We found free parking 5-10 mins away. Some friends visited us during our stay and they wished they had booked here too.
The central heating radiator didn't work on the first night so we used an oil filled rad that was provided to take away the chill. The central heating was on for the second night. The ensuite toilet and shower didn't have a sink so hand washing was in the sink that was at the far side of the bedroom, a small inconvenience.

Parking was very easy and plentiful. Breakfast options were good. Room very spacious with plenty of sockets to charge up cameras and batteries etc. Even though this is a pub, the noise was acceptable and soon quietened down in the evenings.
WiFi didn't work on the top floor (in fairness I did not raise this with the owners as it wasn't a big deal for me, but worth a mention). Shower water pressure low - I almost had to run around the cubicle to get wet. The street outside the property is cobbled and therefore quite noisy when cars or trucks were going passed (was only really an issue on Thursday morning with the bin lorry going up and down at early'o'clock). Symbols on the TV remote had worn away such that they were no longer visible - worked it out eventually but others would not have the patience.

We liked that it was close to the centre and close to lots of walks. We have been to Richmond a number of times and always love visiting. First time staying at The Buck Inn. It's very friendly, a local pub type feel. The Inn is just round the corner from lots of other pubs and restaurants. From our window, we could see the castle, the churches, and the Tower of Culloden. Beautiful views. The room was great, everything you need. Kettle, coffee, tea. Bathroom essentials and a hairdryer. The room was warm and cosy. We would definitely stay here again.
The only downside for us was the bed. It looks and feels a bit tired. Way too soft for me, but everyone's different.

Room etc much as you expect when booking an old pub of this type. Room was comfy and clean and had all you need for a short stay. Breakfast was great and the beer garden is lovely and has views over part of the town, including the castle. Staff were all pleasant and helpful.
Unfortunately the pub wasn’t doing food when we were there (except breakfast for B&B guests), which was a shame. However, there are plenty of options in Richmond and we ate at the Buck Inn’s sister pub, The Turf, which had a limited menu but the food was good and good value (and they offered a 10% discount)

Excellent breakfast and a family friendly pub / hotel that was happy to host our dog as well as my wife and I and our toddler daughter. Very good value for money and the central location was great for a stroll around the city in the morning. Clean and comfortable bed and sheets too and a nice view out from the breakfast room.
Cleanliness in the en-suite could have been a little bit better (some cobwebs in the ceiling) but it was very affordable so we weren't too fussed. Some smell was coming back through from the soil pipe after we had used it as well. At a guess I would think due to the age of the property, but not a problem when the door is shut.

The location is ideal, close to the pubs and restaurants in the market square, castle and river walks. We had a top floor room at the back with a stunning view over the beer garden and square to the castle and woodland. The room was comfortable and clean, the TV had all the channels. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the beer garden in the sunshine and the cask ales were good. The pub had a good atmosphere, it was quite busy in the evening but not too loud and our room was quiet. The breakfast was just about perfect, excellent quality and well cooked.
The only criticism would be that the decor on the stairs and in some public areas is tired. But overall it is a great place to stay.

As an old pub room, not a purpose made hotel, it was as expected for the price. Clean and good en suite. Friendly staff. Stairs and corridor narrow as others have mentioned but not a problem. We didn't have difficulty parking outside in the public areas, and landlord gave us time card for free parking up to 10.00am. Breakfast was good. A blown bulb in the bedside lamp and the headboard not attached to anything was interesting! All in all, what you would expect from a cheaper pub accommodation in town centre.
I imagine in high season it could be harder to find parking, and it could be noisy in a room overlooking the street, but we had no problems. Parking in the day is pay-and-display.

Nice friendly staff and locals .Made to feel welcome, and the dog was spoilt with treats and tickles. Breakfast was very tasty and the dog enjoyed his breakfast sausage too. Also went for food at the sister pub The Turf - lovely food and friendly staff and customers. Nice to be able to take the dog on holiday and to feel so comfortable.
Parking was OK just a bit of a pain that the area has parking disc restrictions so you only get 2 hours free parking during the day and would have to keep moving your car. The parking is ok from 6pm to 8am. It can be overcome if you go and pay to park on a pay and display car park for the day and just use the disc for the morning from 8am to 10am. It may be busier in peak season but wouldn't put us off going again - the pub can't be blamed for the parking situation.

Paul and all his staff were really friendly and welcoming. The location was good, no noise through the night. The room was clean, warm , and had a lovely view of the castle and surrounding areas. The breakfasts were excellent. During opening hours the pub was well run, good selection of beers and the locals made us feel very welcome. I have never been to stay anywhere where there is no charge at all for our small dog, and the value for money is exceptional.
For the price we played and the 3 nights we stayed there was nothing we did not like
