Lovely staff very obliging fantastic breakfast

Bathroom Need bit of update no hot water from taps. Bed room needs up date carpet thread bear not very clean due to old age not nice to walk on.

Characterful pub with lovely open fire. Sits in beautiful surroundings a mile walk from Reeth so great distance for us for walking/exercising our dog. Our room overlooked the beautiful church. Food was exceptional and some mainstream beers/Guinness as well as local beers so a big tick from us. Ate there in the evening and choice was good. The inclusive breakfast was also lovely and set us up for the day ahead. Would definitely recommend and would stay again for sure.

Although very clean, we felt our bathroom could do with a bit of updating. Didn't spoil our stay though.

Friendly welcome. Good beer. Good food. Packed lunches for a tenner. Clean. Decor is a little tired but I think that is reflected in the price. We had a room with a bath, which was a great bonus after a days walking.

The lady in charge of serving food on our second night was a tad negative - instead of saying ‘ooh we are a bit busy at the moment, here’s a menu so you can decide what you want when we are ready to take your order which might not be for over 30 mins as you haven’t booked’, what she said was ‘I can’t serve you’ several times that left us wondering if we would actually get food even though we were residents.

The food is fantastic. We ate there in the evening and the breakfast was super. We even got a sausage for our dog (as did everyone with a pooch) at breakfast time The staff serving both meals were fantastic. I see comments about the place looking tired, etc, but it's obvious work is going on to improve the place. Also, if a place states muddy boots and dog friendly throughout, then you're not going to get 5* hotel looks. It's great value, and if you want a la carte and silk sheets, pay those prices Otherwise, get here with your muddy boots and dogs....

The only downside for me, it's the lack of choice of ales. We went elsewhere for a pint during the day, and I was envious of the choice on tap. The ale they have here is kept well, though It's just my preference to be honest But, having said that. The menu here has a better choice. So, swings and roundabouts, I guess.

Clean, warm room. Good breakfast. Friendly staff.

Very tired bathroom. There is no table or shelf for the kettle (it was sat on the floor). WiFi code was not available in the room.

The location was perfect, and there were nice views from our bedroom (room 1) The room was clean, had a bath as well as shower. We had been walking in the rain and it was lovely to have a bath after a long day. Food was lovely, we had evening meals and then breakfast, which was cereal, fruit, yoghurt, and cooked breakfast with any combination that you wanted and unlimited hot drinks Staff were friendly and accommodating, especially the ones serving food as they only had 1 person serving. I would definitely come back here

Bathroom was functional but needed updating and decorating.

Lovely location and old building. Atmospheric bar area. Great staff- helpful and friendly. Staff looking for advice as to making improvements to their offering. I am sure they will get there and we look forward to staying again. Good breakfast and thrilled to see Shreddies on offer!

Some of the food was very good, but some was rather ordinary (the main courses we had), bland and perhaps not prepared as carefully as it should have been, which was a shame. I know the new owners have a lot on their hands but I would suggest food should be at the top of the list.

The Friendly Staff and being dog friendly, lovely old pub in a beautiful area. The beer was first class especially The Wainwrights. I bit expensive for the San Miguel though. The food was all freshly and really taster but the a big too for us.

We were the 3rd people into the Breakfast but we're last to be served cooked Breakfast but the lady did apologize as they had oven problems today but we did not expect to be Third in and served cooked breakfast last after people who came in after us. we were waiting for 1 hour for the cooked breakfast.

Brilliant location and car parking. Exceptional breakfast with excellent, friendly table service from Tracy the lady that has worked there for several years now. Adrian, one of the new owners, went out of his way to be helpful and provided excellent customer care. Good atmosphere down in the bar (used by the locals) and a lovely warm room with a hot shower in the accommodation area.

Nothing really. This is a traditional country inn, ideally suited for walkers, and provides a great base for exploring the area. Excellent value for money.
