The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and big enough with a small but perfectly functional bathroom. The accommodation was quiet. The food in the restaurant was also very good (although my wife's Bloody Mary Rose prawn cocktail starter was a bit weird - her words not mine). My fish cake with poached egg starter was delicious and the homemade steak and onion pie was great but sadly neither of us had room for a pudding. The breakfast was very good except that there was no fruit option which was a shame.

The room was very hot and stuffy (although to be fair it was the hottest day of the summer at 32°) and we were unable to open the window due to the vast number of flies. A fan was provided so at least we were able to keep the hot air moving during the night. The flies were also a problem in the restaurant at dinner and breakfast. (The accommodation is surrounded by fields and sheep so it was probably to be expected.) We also asked if we could put our freezer blocks in the freezer for the journey the next day but they wouldn't do that for us as it was the "chef's domain"! Not a big ask when spending over £200 /night I thought. ☹️

Having driven 230 miles to this gem of a place I was a tad disappointed that I couldn't check in until 4pm. It didn't matter much as I was going to Catterick races (10 miles) but had i been attending a wedding or formal event I would have wanted to freshen up etc. It did say on the web site that check in was at 4pm but I didn't realise that the place doesn't open until then..so no lunch for me.... I returned early evening and was greeted by Ned, a very smartly dressed gentleman with good communication skills and was extremely pleasant and efficient. Ned showed me to my room (no 7) which was a corker. Beautifully presented with a large double bed, sofa, huge shower room and a terrace. The pub is old and has been given lots of TLC by the current owners with an array of quirky bits and pieces. The owner, Nigel, is also the chef and he's a lovely guy with lots of interesting stories. I had a couple of pints as I perused the dinner menu which was not short of a number of choices. I chose the chicken supreme with stuffed mozzarella and stilton sauce on a bed of leeks with new potatoes. It was delicious. I retired early as had an early departure in the morning so sadly missed breakfast (included in the room price) The room itself was immaculate, clean and very spacious. i slept well although the bed was a bit soft for my liking but that's a minor detail. the shower was amazing and I want one! In term of value for money, the room (including breakfast) was very reasonably priced. From where i come from down south I can imagine a similar property being over double the price. The food is not inexpensive though but, i guess, you get what you pay for and I am not complaining. If I am back in the Yorkshire Dales again, this property will be top of the list. Thank you Wyvill Arms

We stayed at the Wyvill Arms for a night away and had a lovely experience. The room, though not huge, was well-designed with a four-poster bed, a sofa, a wardrobe, and large mirrors that made the space feel much bigger. The bed was really comfortable, making for a great night’s sleep, but the highlight was definitely the shower—an amazing rainfall style that felt like a spa experience! The view from the room was a nice bonus, overlooking peaceful fields, which added to the relaxing atmosphere. Food-wise, the desserts were a standout—large portions and absolutely delicious! The staff were friendly, welcoming, and clearly part of a family-run team, with a nice touch of teaching and training going on while maintaining great service. Overall, a really nice place for a short getaway with comfortable rooms, great food, and a warm atmosphere. Would definitely stay again! https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g3153401-d1889108-r995378687-The_Wyvill_Arms-Constable_Burton_North_Yorkshire_England.html#

Warm welcome on arrival, lovely warm big bedroom. Bonus with an outside area.Walk in shower was refreshing, great water pressure. Food was exceptional. Exceeded my expectations, definitely not a pub meal, highest quality locally sourced ingredients. Breakfast was scrummy, the best hash brown I've ever had, I even got an extra sausage on request. Finally....the attentiveness of the staff from start to finish was outstanding. Ned who was our server in particular exceeds in customer service. Well done 👏 to the owners. Thanks so much for a lovely stay.

Our stay was too short.

Although we didn’t see much of it due to late arrival and getting away straight after breakfast, the place looked lovely and nice surroundings. Breakfast was spot on and can tell it’s locally sourced products. The hotel staff can’t do enough for you and will go out of there way to help you and make you feel welcome and happy. Also a large car park right next to the property helped, our other friends staying in different places struggled with parking.

The creaky bed every time one of us turned over the whole thing creaked like it was going to go through, and the floorboards could do with a few extra screws to stop those creaking. We came back late in the night from a wedding and feel like your disturbing other guests because the floorboards was so creaky.

The room was exceptional. Warm and welcoming. Beautifully decorated with a comfy sofa and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was sparkling clean and the shower? Easily the best shower I've ever used! Our room had a small terrace with seating which was lovely. Breakfast was included in the price and there were lots of tasty options. Be warned, portion sizes are more than ample! We ate our evening meal in the restaurant and it was faultless, it really was. As with the breakfast, the portions are more than ample and our food was cooked to perfection. The staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble and they work together like a real team delivering high standards with a ready smile. We will definitely be returning in the not too distant future.

It would be churlish to complain about something that the staff had no control over but sometime during the night the weather turned unseasonably warm. In most places it wouldn't have made much difference but here the duvets are so good that we struggled to sleep. We solved the problem by keeping the terrace doors open through the night.

The exterior of the hotel is deceiving but once you get in and are greeted with a warm and friendly front of house which is Ned you feel right at home and it is then like Mary Poppins bag, there is just more and more. This is a our second visit to the hotel and yet again we were not disappointed, this time we stayed in room 7 which is absolutely gorgeous. The rooms are spacious, clean and very well equipped and decorated. The bathroom was huge with an amazing shower and everything you need was provided. This is a family run hotel - brother (chef) and mum and sister look after the hotel they are all very friendly and happy to chat and you can tell that they have so much pride in their premises. We would highly recommend The Wyvill Arms and will be back to visit again around Christmas time.

There was nothing we didn't like We did make a recommendation because the room was so spacious if you want to watch TV in bed it was hard to hear so we suggested maybe a speaker hidden close to the bed just in this room.

I was warmly welcomed to The Wyvill Arms, shown to a beautifully appointed room that was spotlessly clean. WiFi speed was spot on, important for someone working on the move! I decided to Dine-in and the food was stunning - perfectly cooked Hake was my choice, served on fresh and crispy Samphire, a great wine list and a fab selection of desserts prepared on site by the extremely capable and experienced chef. After a good night's sleep I was served a superb breakfast. I would definitely stay again and would highly recommend it to others looking to stay in the area. The whole experience was great and I must say that the staff really took the time to engage with all their guests which is so welcome.

Unprepossessing property with a lovely spacious, warm and comfortable bedroom (room 7) with some wonderful furnishings and a large bathroom with an amazing shower. Our room had a private seating area outside. The food (both dinner and breakfast) was of a very good quality and it was excellently prepared by a chef who clearly enjoys cooking. Portions were generous and the prices very reasonable. Staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming. Easy to get to from the A1.....we stopped off en route from Scotland to London and there is lovely countryside round about.

Dining rooms were a bit on the dark side, but it was rather dull weather when we visited!
