Stay for 2 nights with partner and a dog. Staff lovely. Beautiful size room, very warm, bed comfortable and very clean. Extra bonus to have a bath! Tv are amazing! There also have biscuits and hot chocolate.. Breakfast included but only continental breakfast (very enjoyable) if want fry up pay extra. Meal here are fantastic we had Monday burger deal whichs are delicious 😋. Location are fantastic, free car park on cobbles front of hotel ( pay small dontain yellow box at bus shelter ). The room have thin wall can hear people talking, but no trouble at all for us we slept well.

Food was nice, i don't eat meat and I really fancied a cheese platter, so instead of pork pie and ham, chef offered me a lovely quiche. Red wine BAD EYE STAG shiraz/sovignon was the best one I've ever tasted. Room was cute and cosy , I had room 2. Overlooking lovely village. Bed suuuuuuper comfy. Hotel is very generous with complimentary tea, coffee etc which is replenished the next day as I stayed for 2 nights. Great location. Super shower. Will defo be back.

Only 2 things that I marked the hotel down was the floor in the bathroom- it needs a good scrub or just a replacement. The other thing is when I booked, I didn't realise that breakfast included was only a continental one. And you have to pay for cooked.

Location was great. Family run pub hotel, lovely people, very friendly & helpful. Pub food was really good, huge portions and lots of choice. Rooms were quiet considering its right on the main market place and a pub.

The water system is old so there were some temperature regulation issues when showering and the toilets in some rooms have a macerator which was loud but only for a few seconds each time the pump kicked in. Neither issue was the end of the world and neither caused our stay to be any less than great.

Our initial stay at the Black Swan was aborted due to a breakdown in Scotland on our motorcycle paired with a dose of Covid so we had to cancel - in theory we were not entitled to a refund but the hotel owner was kind enough to allow us to rebook for a follow up 2 night stay in better times, honouring the initial booking for one of the nights - much appreciated and worthy of recommendation based on that experience alone! The hotel itself is well positioned central in the town, parking was right outside of the front door if you got in there early enough, the staff were all very friendly, the room itself was spacious and clean, the bar area was typical of an old English pub with the addition of a sheltered courtyard area to the rear - unfortunately the area to the frontage on the main square was unavailable during our visit, which was a pity.

The interior of the bar/restaurant area was a bit run down and shabby but I suspect that they are working their way thro' the building carrying out a refurb as our room immediately over the bar was bright and freshly decorated. Financial constraints I imagine are always the issue. Breakfast was a an included buffet which was at first sight a little limited but it was possible to order extras such as eggs on toast etc at no extra charge and it turned out the buffet was lacking in replenishment so a better choice was soon reinstated.

Great value for money. Staff were lovely and helpful. Food was good and plentiful. The continental breakfast was limited but the cooked breakfast (supplement) was good value. The pub is right on the main square with plenty of parking directly across from the pub (voluntary donation - suggested donation £2). The room was fairly large and warm. The bed was comfortable although very high! We felt the bathroom could do with some updating. Overall excellent value for money

We had a lovely stay. We booked 4 rooms to celebrate a birthday and felt right at home in the pub and bedrooms. Staff were very nice, they made us feel welcome, as well as the doggos. It’s a very dog friendly pub! They even got a sausage for breakfast. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable (if a little dated with some noisy pipework). Location great and parking outside easy. We had an evening meal and breakfast and all was very good, we were stuffed. Thank you!

Central location in a small Yorkshire village. Ample free parking within the market square directly outside the accomodation. Nice friendly atmosphere and friendly staff. Excellent grub and great value.

The room we were allocated was possibly a little too small for a three night stay. The constant noise of the extractor fan from the kitchen below (... view from room as per photo attached).

The quality of the room was much higher than I had expected for a small provincial pub, both in terms of its size and of the comfort/facilities provided. Cleanliness was excellent Staff were helpful and friendly.

Breakfast was average - neither exceptional nor poor. The lighting around the buffet table in a dark corner could have been brighter (OK for the evening, but inadequate during the day). The evening meal was disappointing and, frankly, not worth its relatively high cost. I had steak pie with mash and vegetables. While the pie was very good, the vegetables (a few carrot rings and a couple of small floretts of broccoli) were overdone and sparse. All served swimming in a thin, watery, meat-flavoured liquid (I wouldn't describe it as 'gravy'!). Extremely disappointing and very poor value, in my opinion, for £16. Food-wise, if I stay there again, I'll probably pastronise the chip shop on the other side of the Square!

Breakfast excellent- especially Cygnet. Good "continental" too. Very good coffee. Very spacious room (no. 4) and first class shower in large bathroom.

The price of £7.90 for a 250 ml glass of wine - grossly excessive. Plus wine at £21.00 per bottle is not what one expects from a "pub".

Easy to book and great service. Conveniently located on Leyburn market square. Great pub with delicious food and drink. The breakfast was good - lots to choose from. Room was clean and comfortable and turned down and restocked every day.

If you're a light sleeper, just be advised that the walls are thin due to the age of the building. Maybe bring some earplugs!
