The staff, the breakfast and the bedroom decoration

The bed was a little uncomfortable to my hops. The bathroom needs a new sink cabinet, well worn at the bottom. And the shower grouting looked dirty with mould. Just small upgrade would put this right.

Ideal location for my journey, scenic scenery very surprised as it's close proximity to A66. The meals provided were excellent. We will hopefully stay here again.

Didn't find anything to dislike.

Met all requirements and allowed me to come earlier to drop my bag off. Once I got back from the wedding, the bag was in my room as I had checked in late. Super helpful and made it easy for me to enjoy my day

Staff were very pleasant and couldn’t do enough for us, delightful

A slightly larger room as we had the dog(room 22), and a more unrestricted view of the lovely back garden, otherwise great

My sister and I booked two small doubles - one was quite small but fine, but the other one was a standard room - both at the back of the hotel. Breakfast was very good with buffet for starters and then a served cooked breakfast - good quality ingredients. Evening meal in the restaurant was OK, but a little pricey for what was on offer. We also had a meal in the bar - better value. The gardens at the back are lovely and look out onto open fields. The location just off the dual carriage way is very convenient and easy to get to Barnard Castle from the hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay and found all the staff very pleasant and helpful.

Menu in the restaurant was the same for our 3 nights and as we didn't like or couldn't eat (allergies) several of the choices - we ate in the bar one night and went out the other one - but would have preferred the restaurant experience.

Staff was exceptionally helpful. Nothing to much to ask. We travelled with epileptic dog . We asked to move us to other end of bar area breakfast time as our dog was too wobbly on wooden floor . That was done instantly. We had standard room . Very clean, good value for money . Bed was double standard . A bit too small for us but that's personal preference. Nothing wrong with it. We will definitely come back with a vision of upgrading room as I saw it it's beautiful. Food was very good as well. Bar staff exceptionally good too. We can't thank enough for good service

Staff were very efficient and helpful from the start. We even managed to get booked in to the garage spa . The hotel was lovely with some great features there was a lovely Muriel in the bar hand painted , we had our evening meal there a that was lovely too and reasonably priced . The room was very spacious and clean and had all the amenities that we needed . The hotel was set in a gorgeous location even though there was a main road it was like you were in the middle of no where surrounded by glorious countryside.

There was nothing we didn’t like really enjoyed our stay and would return again

Very easy to find off the A66 . Looks impressive from outside . Our room was located in an annex just outside past the spa . Room 40 , spacious, with a beautiful four poster bed . I had booked a 'superior room ' , I wouldn't class it as superior but nice all the same . Bathroom had shower and huge separate bath . Very clean too . Nice bath towels , just missing a hand towel . Lovely complimentary soaps . And tea/coffee tray was nice , quality items . Bed was very comfortable. Double sockets either side of the bed . Hotel bar was nice with comfy seating and hand painted wall coverings . Plenty of seating outside in the garden where we also enjoyed a drink . Dogs are welcome in the bar area which we didn't mind at all . We ate in the Gilroy's restaurant in the evening , it was busy with a nice atmosphere. Michelle, our waitress is lovely , she lives locally and is a credit to the hotel . The younger waitresses are also nice , service was good . Our meals were beautiful, couldn't fault the menu , price and quality. Not a scrap left on our plates , and the pudding was also very yummy . 2 adults , 2 main meals and 2 puddings with 3 drinks cost £66 . Worth it . You get a bottle of water too on your table. There are lots of areas in the hotel to relax in , comfy sofa's and arm chairs. Breakfast is served in the Gilroy restaurant, it was busy but attended to with ease by the lovely friendly staff . I can tell you that the Breakfast was amazing , menu on the table but you help yourself to the continental options and cooked options , you can even ask for other specific items that are cooked to order . The choice was superb , and wow the quality of everything I ate was superb . There is something for everyone . Check out at 11am is great . I was gutted we only stayed 1 night .
