Cleanliness, staff, fixtures and fittings were quality and in good taste. Unexpectedly had to stay in and work on my laptop instead of going out for my own leisure but the room was so comfortable, pleasant and quiet during the day for this purpose. Cleaning staff were extra friendly and hospitable, and doing a fab job as I used to manage a team of hotel cleaners and know the team here are doing a great job.

Other guests were partying downstairs loudly until 3am with lots of arguing, loud 90's rave music and banging doors. Not the end of the world as I had earbuds but can't wear them when trying to sleep, but this was not the fault of the proprietors, just unfortunate for me after a very peaceful day in my room.

Staff are excellent, friendly and offer great customer service. Location is excellent if you want somewhere to relax. It made us feel at ease being surrounded by countryside. Room was lovely, clean and had everything you could need. Food is exceptional. We will be going back for one of the luxury rooms.

Minor issue but the bed frame creaked a lot at the slightest movement. It kept us awake over night. Definitely hasn't put us off going back as everything else was so good. We're really pleased we found this little gem!

Lovely staff. Helped us learn more about the area as we are planning to relocate to Durham. Suggested what areas are good and what to avoid. The room is very well maintained. We opted for breakfast, and it was really good. Overall, we will recommend this property to anyone who is visiting Durham.

The location is very quiet and peaceful and that makes it difficult to access if you don't have your own vehicle. We saw a bus stop nearby, but we haven't seen any buses during our stay. The restaurant is not open throughout the day, so please carry something with you. There are no shops nearby.

Check-in is easy and convenient for any time arrival. We got there at 20.30. Rooms are clean and warm, which is super when the outside temperature is freezing. Extras available include tea, coffee, milk, and biscuits, as you can help yourself. Staff are very friendly without being overbearing. Special thanks to the breakfast chef and housekeeping. You make your guests welcome, and nothing is too much. Breakfast is amazing with freshly cooked full English and any combination, homemade sweet treats, and a range of continental items.

contact before arrival regarding ordering a meal with my unusual requirements already heralded a good choice of place , not big in size but big in soul and atmosphere there, I was taken care of from arrival to departure every second, the kitchen and its chef are a wonder, in the whole of England I have not eaten such surf and turf as here, I was full and happy, the staff took care of every second that nothing was missing. rested and satisfied with although a short but successful trip I returned home 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Service

This is a gem of a property it is modern but withy a quaint feel. As the restaurant is not open every day, they encourage you to use the local take aways and have crockery and cutlery on hand for you to use even if you bring your own food a great idea. There are also areas you can eat in so no need to eat in the room. The breakfast is very good with great Eggs Benedict as well as the usual English breakfasts.

The double bed was not large but any bigger would have swamped the room which was not big but with all thew other areas to sit in was not a problem.

Friendly staff ,the bed was excellent and the breakfast tip top the Jacuzzi a treat, but my first impression of the room from how well the bed was made told me the room,Sagitta was well presented and certainly dust free,I don't think I'll ever get used to square toilet seats.😊

From once a thriving village in my youth to witness how exhausted Byers Green is now , that saddened, I had a slow walk round to find Byers Green still holds it's charm and why wouldn't it my roots are there what's needed is a Tesco Express and mini leisure centre.

The whole experience from arrival to departure, arrived 5 mins before reception closed, nothing was too much trouble. Room was stunning as was the corridor wall paper leading up to the room, not sure I want to say too much more as we want that room every time, stayed in the Aquila suite. Facilities, welcome, staff and breakfast were all first class. Honesty bar in the reception and ice machine running 24/7, perfect.

No price guide on the honesty bar, having said that £5 for 2 bottles of lager certainly was not extortionate.

Staff were so friendly and welcoming, the room was everything we wanted and more and great value for money. We got breakfast delivered to our room which was delicious, a massive jug of orange juice not just a glass each, it was still nice and hot when it arrived and you even got a little fruit pot for after. There was a complimentary bottle of Prosecco in the fridge and we even got a complete drink of choice on arrival. We wanted a nice and quiet night away and we got just that. Would definitely go back in the future.

The staff at Thomas Wright House were outstanding and couldn't do enough for us throughout our stay. The complimentary Prosecco was a lovely touch. We stayed in the Phoenix Suite and it was absolutely beautiful. The huge spa bath was amazing and so relaxing - just perfect for a romantic getaway. The fact that the hotel offers room service was a huge positive for us as well, so we could eat in the privacy of our room. The breakfast was fantastic! Cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend staying here and look forward to returning 😊
