We very much enjoyed staying at The Cricketers Arms. Our room was well laid out with a very comfortable bed and spacious en-suite bathroom. Our welcoming host helped carry our bags to our room. Despite overlooking the fairly busy road, there was no traffic noise. There were nice little touches in the room such as a fan should it get too warm and a small heater should the temperature drop. We didn't need either but it was nice to see that they'd been provided. Parking the car was also easy as we got a (free) place in the street right outside. There is no food at the pub but we found a great fish and chip shop just down the road that fitted the bill! Barnard Castle is an interesting town with some lovely little shops. The nearby Bowes Museum is fascinating and well worth a visit.

There was nothing we didn't like.

The Cricketers only has two rooms and we booked both as a family of 2 adults and two teenage boys as we were attending a wedding nearby. Due to the way the third party booking app worked it would only let us book two twin rooms. When the Cricketers contacted us they were very accommodating and changed the set up to a double and a twin. The rooms were tastefully decorated, clean and cosy. The beds were comfortable. Being in the centre of Barnard Castle it is an old and characterful building, and it is right in the middle of Main Street. The Cricketers Arms is a pub and so there was some noise until closing time at midnight. It wasn't that bad though and we had expected that this would be the case especially as we were staying on a Saturday night. But after this time the noise dropped off quickly and we had a peaceful nights sleep. Overall we were very happy and would definitely stay again.

If I was being picky the bathrooms are probably due a bit of a refresh, but they were clean and had everything you could need. As said above, there is noise from the pub downstairs, but that really should be expected when booking a room in a pub!

The room was well presented clean with plenty of space ,very clean as far as I could see and I'm rather fussy good view from our window of the main street

Could of been more tea bags as only two and complimentary biscuit don't expect an early night as karaoke was on till late for the youngsters and those that like it will be ideal we'd had a long day so not so good but it seemed to wrap up by 1ish and check out wasn't till 11am so plenty of sleep so not all bad

No breakfast, just the room. A nice 'locals' pub, but there was no noise after 10. The pub is directly opposite the house where C. Northcote Parkinson grew up. He was the author of the famous Parkinson's Law. That's unique! There is a lot of history in the town, and the locals were very chatty.

No Complaints whatsoever.

Exactly as pictured. Beautiful decor, very clean with lots of commodities such as tea, coffee, water, air freshener in the bathroom, sky tv, tissues, hangers, plugs by the bed! Super comfy bed, luxurious pillows and bedding. No curfew, when at a wedding at Larington hall we had access via the garage for coming home late. Free parking out front and very friendly and helpful host.

Nothing!!

Lovely and clean, warm and Quiet. Bed comfy and we both slept well . Parking near property easy , as town looks very busy at times , right in town. Friendly hosts and the pub clients were cheery and friendly too. Dog as a guest no problem, we would definitely stay here again and recommend it to my friend’s.

No negatives

Location was excellent and a short walk to town centre. The room was very clean with plenty of space. Furnished tastefully with comfortable beds.

I gather that since the pandemic no breakfast is offered. However the town is well supplied with cafes and takeaways. It is a lovely busy pub so there is a fair amount of noise drifting up to the room. A pair of earplugs is a good idea if you are sensitive to this.

Even though the place is on the main thoroughfare, the room was quiet and clean with water and coffee making facilities, which was ideal after a walk around the market place. The bed was comfortable and the shower facility was perfect after a good wander around Barnard Castle.

Couldn't really fault the room apart from the television not working! Also maybe less pillows is more as I had to get rid of 3/4 to get comfortable. Apart from those, great stay!

Great location in pretty much in the centre of Barnard Castle. Saturday night stay, checked in about 3pm and the place was already busy, seems to be a popular watering hole with the locals. Room immaculately clean and well presented all the usual stuff present and correct. Free parking right outside, always a bonus. Room was directly over the bar, noise levels quite high as the evening progressed but not really a problem, to be expected when staying in pub. All round good experience and would visit again,

So much to like! It was quiet, nicely decorated, the bed was super comfy. Great location to get to Runa Farm for a wedding. Staff were really helpful.

Not much to not like, however we struggled to get into the property via the side door as we were returning after operating hours. Luckily someone was there to help us in and it was definitely more our issue than theirs.
