The hotel is beautiful. We stayed in a newly refurbished room which was stunning. The hotel is going through a re-furb and reception notify you on arrival, however it doesn't affect your stay and will make the hotel look even more fabulous. The spa is lush and worth the entry fee. The food in the restaurant was beautifully prepared and flavoursome. They do some great takes on classic dishes but also some different food also. Excellent gluten free range.

The only issue we had with our stay was with other guests who decided to have a 5 hour argument in the room next door. Our room had an adjoining door which hampered the sound proofing so we heard every word, and despite us kindly asking them twice to keep it down they didnt. Regardless of this, when we informed the night porter he was so calm, kind and efficient and gave us another room to sleep in so that we could actually sleep. The hotel reception were also very apologetic and did their best to appease the situation. They couldn't have handled it better.

Everything. It was such a pleasant experience, from the bedroom cleanliness and tidiness, to the lush Spa and pool and the absolutely stunning restaurant. The chef is something else, food was the best I have tasted in long time.

Nothing

The Manor House hotel was like nothing we’d ever stayed in before, we loved the buildings, the spa facilities and the history of the place. All the staff were so lovely, letting us have a nose around the function rooms and the courtyard was a great sun trap for drinks. The breakfast was really great and we were glad to have it made to order. We also ate in the evening which was also amazing.

The only real complaint we had was that the bed in the room was quite small - I’m 5’8” and my partner is 6’1” and both of us had our feet hanging off the bed. The bed was also not that comfortable, which was disappointing given the rest of the hotel. It seems that lots of update works are being done so perhaps we weren’t in one of the newer rooms. We would still return as it was a lovely stay.

The staff were great, special mention to Dianne, Andrew and Riley, plus the ladies who cleaned our room up every day, the Spa was also a special treat for us.

Sadly there were some repair work that needed to be done at a very early time during our stay right beneath our room,,, to be fair we approached the reception who quickly solved the issue to give us a chance of a decent night's sleep,,,,,, in addition, some guests thought having a loud full scale conversation/argument in the garden outside our room was appropriate,,, hopefully the hotel will impose a stricter nighttime regime for the benefit of sleeping guests in the future. On this matter, the staff were very helpful and sympathetic.

95% of the staff I met were fab, including Ronnie the gardener! Very friendly, helpful, down to earth and clearly enjoy their jobs. The spa facilities were a dream, and my massage was wonderful, which was on offer for residents. The bed was VERY comfortable. The grounds and building were impressive. Steak for dinner? WOW.

Carpets weren't too clean. I had no hotel info for meals, room service, spa facilities, etc, in my room - mentioned it twice, and still yet to see it. Breakfast was good, however felt the fresh continental items should have had some kind of covering, or been in a cold cabinet. No outdoor bin. Duvet cover, although good quality, was coming away at the seams. Just little niggles, nothing major.

Superbly clean room and bathroom. Both rooms were spacious with no cluttering of furniture. Lovely fluffy white towels and a bathmat. Separate shower and bath that were both in very good condition. Proper hot water. Room was light and bright. The hotel is in an old, large hunting lodge full of character in lovely grounds with easy access to good walking area especially with dogs. The breakfast was very good. Lovely selection of fresh fruit, proper thick unsweetened yoghurt, delicious porridge served with honey and a homemade fruit compote, delicious eggs royale. Use of the pool and spa facilities (I'm not referring to treatments - one expects to pay additionally for those), could be inclusive when booking into the hotel.

Staff in the spa and the spa reception were so helpful and it was a real treat x Staff in the restaurant were lovely, especially the tall dark haired young lad, he made the whole experience of dining there extra special. Food was delicious

The response from the hitel reception staff. She asked how was my stay and I said all the positive above but when I mentioned the smoke alarm light flashing above the bed all night which kept me awake ( I never slept a wink) she just shrugged and said well we have to have them..I said maybe not directly above the bed and again she just shrugged. Thus hasn't put me off staying again because everything and everyone else was brilliant x even though I was very tired having not slept x

Staff were really great and very welcoming throughout. Our room was very spacious in a lovely older part of the hotel. The hotel was very atmospheric with some really interesting and quirky rooms. We had a really enjoyable evening meal.

For breakfast hot food is cooked to order. We must have turned up at exactly the same time as most of the other guests on Sunday morning and consequently the service was extremely slow. So slow in fact that we left before our cooked breakfast arrived - and that was more than 30 mins after we came down to breakfast. The hotel should either consider having an additional cook for busy Sunday mornings or think about whether some hot items could be provided as a buffet.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Thequirky, almost playful decor melded the historical aspects of the manor with modern touches. The light fittings throughout were fascinating. The spa was great!

I stayed for 5 days and I had to ask for the room facilities like bottled water to be topped up twice- other than those times very little was refreshed. I like it when a facility tops up all the original offerings of shower gel, coffee, water etc every day as the price remains the same for each day.

Outstanding welcome by all staff. Everyone we met was welcoming, friendly and willing to share their experiences of this hotel. It is a long time since I have stayed in such an amazing and atmospheric location. A bit creaky in places added to the charm of this 15th century listed building. We would normally stayed in a national chain Inn but was attracted initially by the price and value. All I can say is I am glad we chose to be a bit more adventurous.

Much renovation taking place did not interfere with our stay and will be happy to return when other areas are finished.
