The staff are always lovely and friendly and helpful. It is always lovely and clean. The food is very nice it has beautiful grounds. The spa is lovely and relaxing and you have the option to use the gym if you are staying at the hotel. The location is also great, I love being close to nature.. Pub at the top of the road and nice places to walk.

It no longer has a pool.. There aren't smaller meals, like a lite lunch or sandwich or options for smaller breakfast if you were to take children. Or even just a bowl of chips on their own. I found it difficult to pick what to eat. There is No fridge in the rooms.. This would be handy to keep my diabetic medication in, a sit need to be kept in the fridge.

The breakfast was great, it had a full English menu and Continental The lady on arrival was very helpful and even changed my room as she realised there might be noise in the room that was booked. She was very kind. The hotel is really beautiful, the views are amazing, and the room was lovely. The hotel was a stately home and has many grand rooms and period features, with modern, comfortable hotel rooms built on.

Definitely need proper coffee with the breakfast. They only had instant powder! This is the first time in several years where I haven't had either filtered or proper machine such as cappuccino. Even the small B&Bs I've stayed at have a filter machine at breakfast, included with the stay! Even worse, when I mentioned it at Reception before I left, the girl argued with me, instead of just acknowledging my feedback.

the breakfast! we arrived the first morning and there was barely anything left in the continental section. staff were clearly run off their feet and struggled to keep up with clearing up and restocking. we chose not to have breakfast in the hotel following this initial experience

Friendly welcoming team & receptionist on arrival very knowledgeable on area. Offered an upgrade on arrival very appreciated. Cooked breakfast was well cooked.

Cobwebs in room & toilet but I may be being picky as I was offered a last minute upgrade on arrival so perhaps that room wasn't prepped to the standards it may have been if they were expecting someone in there that day. Freshly ground coffee would've complimented the higher standards of breakfast rather than a buffet airpot of filter coffee, just a suggestion.

Everything. We stay here all the time and love it here. The staff are lovely. We stay in Room 1 and 2 for a certain reason...if you know, you know 👻🫢 . This hotel is steeped in history. We go on our little walkabouts, have a little sit in the library aswell under room 2, its nice and quiet, the staff know why we go there and are really nice, and think we are brave and a bit crackers at same time 😄 we love the Foresters pub along road aswell, lovely locals always made to feel welcome even though we are from north shields we feel like part of the community and the landlady laura always first words are "what Room you staying in and how did it feel when you walked in" haha great atmosphere though. I cant honestly say a bad word about this hotel or the staff, and any review that does say a bad word about it, must not be happy about anything in life, because its the people that make it great ❤️ from wendy and michael.

There is nothing not to like!!

We absolutely love Hall Garth Hotel, the staff are amazing🙏 and we love the grounds and location. We visit on our night off from work when we can, most Saturday nights now....it's just perfect. Plus the staff know we love the history of the place and why we visit here😇👻. It's an addictive place and we love to spend our Saturday nights here and like to visit the little pub along the road, we feel like locals even though we are from North Shields, everyone makes us feel really welcome. We love it here. We love it so much I nearly shed a tear when it's fully booked the next week when I try to book up and have to miss a week 😢☺️I don't often write reviews however, this place definitely gets my time and energy, they deserve it!! Dinner was well presented, efficient service and tasted really good. All staff happy an courteous, including chamber maids. Our overall experience for our stay was excellent and would recommend you to others that may be visiting the area.

I'm a designer and fitter of kitchen and bathrooms, so pay particular attention to these areas of anywhere I stay. From this perspective there are a couple of improvements that would change this from a good stay to a great stay.

The staff were excellent and showed what good customer service looks like, the food really stood out, they had a great menu for lunch & dinner with plenty of choice. I would Highly recommend this hotel

The room just needs some TLC and a refresh, I do understand this is in the oldest part of the building with some very challenging levels to work around but it was just in need of some love and updating especially in the bathroom first, the bedroom was very clean and well presented as a whole.

Lovely reception, bar, restaurant and spa staff. Our room was spotless, quiet and very comfortable. The food was delicious, well presented with generous portions. The spa area was being renovated when we went to get our manicure but we can’t wait to visit the new hot tub area once it’s been finished. We will definitely be back in the new year. Thanks to all staff for making our stay so lovely!

The beautiful old breakfast/dining area (Oswalds)could do with a revamp, the dining chairs need recovering and the decor and room dressings refreshed to enhance the original features. Maybe more subtle lighting and candles on the table too.

Four poster bed and room had a bath. Our evening meal was very good.

Was promised a garden view, but just got views of rooftops. When getting breakfast you get your bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms and beans, then when you get to eggs there are only hard scrambled eggs and a note saying please ask for fried or poached eggs! By the time the egg would have arrived the rest of the breakfast would be cold!! We should have been told about ordering eggs when we arrived in the breakfast room!
