Breakfast is amazing as was the evening meal. Whatever dietary needs you may have the staff seem to go the extra mile to make sure you get a great meal. Good selection for vegetarians and vegans. All the staff were great , I cant stress this enough. I have never come across hotel staff anywhere that have been so friendly, professional and dedicated to making sure your stay there is the best it can be. if you want, they will give you a tour of the dungeons, definitely worth it. The grounds were great.

I would still want to return but i thought the room was looking a little tired.

Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful. A good breakfast. A good and quiet location for visiting local attractions.

More fresh fruit (Esp bananas) should be available at breakfast. There are EV chargers but other guests were parking in front of them, so we found a charger elsewhere.

The fact they put us in an awful room to start with, I returned to reception and we were offered a very nice room, this should not have happened in the first place. Management apologised and gave us a bottle of Prosecco on leaving the hotel.

The first impression is of grandeur and history as you enter via the impressive gates to see the castle, but the lasting impression is of the delightful, friendly and very accommodating staff. The hotel itself is a little confusing at first to find your way around, but the exploration is part of the experience. A very comfortable lounge was a welcome refuge and conveniently close to a bar! We were in a more modern room, which while on the small side was very good value. The breakfasts offered a great selection and were not too large.

The only thing to nit pick on would be a mattress that could have been a little more comfortable.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Setting was lovely and it was a quiet location, no traffic noise. Had a couple of EV chargers. Food was really nice, both at breakfast and dinner. Bed was very comfy. Very good value for money.

All these are pretty minor points when compared to the big positives. Room was a bit tired and quite small. Bed frame was wood all the way round and so you had a tendancy to bang your legs on it getting in and out. The door to the room had glass at the top and there was a hall light on all night which shone directly in and was difficult to block out if you wanted to keep the access to the ensuite open in the night.

Location of hotel was lovely with good outdoor areas to sit and have drinks, breakfasts were excellent with a good choice of foods, dinners were good too and very large. Our room was very clean and comfortable and we were given a fan as the weather was so hot. Excellent shower. Lovely to have no noise from other guests, even though the hotel was quite full. The building is a genuine old castle with creaky floors, stone windows and lots of character.

There is no lift and the rooms are on the first and second floors. Our mattress was a bit too soft for my liking, but alright for a few days. The stone framed windows have been plastered and painted inside at some time and so now the paint and plaster is coming off as the stone cannot ‘breathe’, this makes some areas look a little untidy.

The staff where fabulous,had a problem with the room we were staying in,problem solved by the staff we were up graded to a very nice room at no extra charge 👍 Stay for evening meal,again good value and very well presented and service was excellent. Nothing to much effort for the staff to attend to, great customer service and support.

Nothing to complain about but you would need a car to get to town but that’s only minor And I believe that the hotel will be going through a refurbishment in the near future fabulous.👍
