The Hotel location & room were as expected as we have stayed previously. Room was well decorated and functional for our needs. Staff in general were helpfull and pleasant

The breakfast was disapointing as previously it was plated not buffet style. Choice was limited with no black pudding available plus plates were cold. In particular some of the food was cold, especically the bacon was hard scrambled egg watererly! Ordering of fried eggs was complicated had to remind the waiter. Turning to the hotel facilities no phone in room or method of contacting housekeeping etc. (mentioned to reception) noted and maybe possible to add contact number to housekeeping pack.

Easy to find, parking great on the grounds. Beautiful building, bedrooms large. Bed rooms 3 and 1 very comfortable. Shower refreshing in room 3, cosy and inviting room (disabled). Refreshments available. Evening meals 2 or 3 courses available. We had 2 course meals, fish, chips and mushy peas,and two roast beef meals. Very tasty. Three dessert 's also very nice. Staff friendly and helpful. Slept well, warm rooms, breakfast buffet,or separate menu available. Plenty to choose from, coffee and tea hot. I'd recommend you stay. Staff extremely helpful,and quick to attend. Mistakingly pulled alarm cord, and within moments were knocking at the door. Thank you for your care.

Bedroom no 1, shower was leaking a bit. Little bit of modernisation in bathrooms to refresh the feel of safety.

Location

Dirty carpet throughout the hotel. Dated fittings. I had to use a magazine to prop window open to let air in to get rid of damp smell. Then when evening came and the temperature dropped, i found the windows not properly fitted, hence letting in draft. No hospitality from host. Very little English spoken. Supposedly, all information necessary was tired of in an A4 sheet left in the room. No toilet roll holder in the bathroom. Had to wait a good few minutes for hot water to come through, and I nearly gave up thinking it didn't work as it took so long.

I loved the spacious room & the meals were excellent, apart from my breakfast on the first morning was stone cold, so I had to leave it all, that's my only complaint, and because it was room service you expect your meal to be piping hot, may I make a suggestion maybe use metal covers in the future to keep meals hot and not plastic covers, plus the fact you are charged for room service only be served a cold meal, other than that I enjoyed my stay.

As above regarding my cold breakfast yesterday morning, it has put me off having a full English and making me choose to have a cereals ect.

Hotel its self was lovely and is very presentable from the outside. Quick checking in service. Staff were friendly! I like where it’s situated too, in a very quiet area of Darlington. Restaurant was beautifully set up the night before ready for morning. Wonderful little bar area, with quieter bar and one with live acts on.

Parking was a bit of a nightmare, however we did manage to get a space in the end. Some parts of the hotel were SLIGHTLY unclean I.E. dead fly and dusty on one of the windowsills in the hall leading to our room. Bathroom had grout all in the tiles & some decor in room needs changing. Kettle in room was over boiling (kept boiling and wouldn’t turn off until I turned the plug off) and was boiling hot to touch on the handle, so I couldn’t pick it up - may need replacing.

Location was really good. It was clean and had everything you needed. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was a very quiet and relaxing hotel.

It was quite hot in the room even though the radiators were turned off but they did supply a fan which was helpful. There was a good selection at breakfast however, I asked to have pancakes and got told I couldn’t have anything else from the breakfast if I did even though I saw a person have porridge the day before and they were allowed to have a cooked breakfast after so I was a bit confused as I ordered off the same menu.

Room was very good, comfortable, plenty of storage and comfortable bed Breakfast was very good, plenty to choose from hot and cold options, menu also available for other items not on buffet table.

I would have preferred some more light around or near mirrors for make-up purposes, one table was near the window but curtains blocked any light. Cereal area at breakfast was full with a selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, bowls, cutlery so not much room to actually pour out your cereal.

Location was perfect for me and in all a pretty nice place.

The room was ok , not too sure whether it is a cheap hotel trying to be high end or a high end hotel being cheap. Shower didnt work in the room and resception told me "i yeah we know about that "bit strange as surly you would just fix it or dont let out the room. Breakfast was pretty poor just dried out hot plate food with no real taste . Cant do with the laminated menus for dinner and breakfast .... however the place was nice and had a great nights sleep.

I had a wonderful night's stay at this elegant hotel which surpassed my expectations. I was upgraded to a suite which was so comfortable. The bed was amazing and I slept for ten hours as it was so comfy. I had dinner in the restaurant which was well priced and delicious. Breakfast was equally good with a buffet which was well above average. The staff were friendly and helpful. I couldn't fault my stay and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location was also very handy for the town.

Bed was high and comfortable with a thick mattress topper. Towels were large and fluffy. Breakfast was self serve with some things to be ordered eg porridge, fried or poached eggs, tea and coffee. The breakfast was included with the room price and was a typical hotel breakfast. We enjoyed it.

Some of the decor seemed in need of refurbishment eg the plug in the bathroom sink was coming out of its anchor and it did not retain the water for very long. The central light fitting was full of the bodies of flies and other bugs which had found their way in there and one or two were walking around the inside of the cover with one walking around the outside trying to get into the light. It was rather disconcerting when lying on the bed with the light on. Parking was available but because there was a wedding on it was rather more limited than was possibly the norm and there were some tight corners to navigate as the parking was around three sides of the hotel.
